My dear friend Jack Ames of Defend Life organizes a Maryland Face the Truth Tour every summer. It's a week of multiple stops each day using huge pro-life/abortion signs to expose communities to the truth about child-killing in the womb. Jack asked me to give a talk on the preliminary prep/training day about the early history of the pro-life movement. My qualifications? I'm old and started working in the pro-life movement in 1972 before Roe v. Wade. Some of the early heroes I'll be talking about directly impacted my own involvement in pro-life activism through their witness and inspiration. How much I thank God for all of them!

May 14th Red Rose Rescues at Capital Women's Center and Surgi-Clinic in our Nation's Capital!

Surgi-Clinic will kill babies seven weeks older
than this fully developed little one! Think about it!

The videos below were recorded at two Red Rose Rescues on Thursday, May 14th. The first was taken at Capital Women's Center on Georgia Ave. where at least one woman changed her mind and chose life for her baby.

The second video is from the Surgi-Clinic killing center which "terminates" pregnancies (murders babies) up to 27 weeks.

#WhyWeMarch: Reflections on the March for Life 2018

I didn't go to the March for Life yesterday for several reasons, but I watched the rally program on EWTN and have been reviewing commentary and videos.

What an incredible event! And what an incredible crowd! 

For the first time a sitting President addressed the March live and in person even inviting a contingent to be there in the Rose Garden for the event. Surrounded by parents with smiling children and babes in arms, he gave an inspiring talk including saying he would sign the bill banning abortions for pain capable-infants in the womb when Congress puts it on his desk. It isn't enough, but it will save many. Let us all pray and fast that it happens!

Many people do not know this about me but when I was about 11, my mom went to jail for the first time for trying to save babies by blocking access to an abortion clinic. She later became involved in Operation Rescue and she and my Grandma nearly missed my graduation from UVA after being arrested and jailed for three weeks on a trespassing charge in New York. 

Growing up, my parents hosted over a dozen unwed mothers. Many people refer to unborn babies as "the product of conception" "the fetus" or "clumps of tissue" but every one of those young women delivered a baby and, for the most part, gave that baby to another family to raise. As a young girl, I was deeply impressed by their courage and sacrifice.

Maybe if we treated human babies like pandas....

...people wouldn't demand the right to kill them. Think of the outrage if there was a group demanding the right to kill panda cubs...or gorilla babies...or newborn eaglets. But human babies are so much trash...unless the mothers happen to want them. And yet we are the apple of God's eye "worth more than many sparrows"...or pandas...or gorillas...or eagles...or any lower life form. Thank you Lord for providing the animals to feed and delight us. Help us to be good stewards of your creation. And please, Lord, save the baby humans!

BALTIMORE, MD -- The Maryland Board of Public Works, which includes Governor Martin O'Malley as one of its three members, announced today that it will grant a $385,000 settlement with nine individuals who were illegally arrested and jailed by Maryland State Police on August 1, 2008, in Bel Air, Maryland for displaying large pictures of aborted babies along Route 24.

This settlement must still be approved by the individual plaintiffs. After transfer of funds has been accomplished, a news conference with more details will be held in Baltimore.

Defend Life Wins A Round in Court

My friends at Defend Life in Baltimore sponsor a Face the Truth Tour every summer that exposes thousands of people in a number of cities from Hagerstown to Baltimore to the Delmarva Peninsula to the graphic reality of abortion. Two years ago, police in Harford County, MD violated the free speech rights of the Face the Tour group. Not only were 18 arrested but the women and girls had their shirts pulled out and their breasts inspected in front of the men.

Fortunately, Defend Life doesn't play nice when violation of constitutional rights is involved and they sued. The 4th Circuit recently upheld their complaint. Judge Richard D. Bennett denied immunity from prosecution to the police officers involved and his decision read in part:

The Amended Complaint sets forth sufficient facts to suggest that the Trooper Defendants, through their arrest of Plaintiffs, executed a policy of suppressing free speech that was based upon an unconstitutionally vague and overbroad ordinance...This Court finds with respect to the alleged sexually invasive strip-search at the Detention Center, Plaintiffs have sufficiently stated a claim.
