For Those Who Consider Themselves on the Side of the Angels. Are You Really?

Getty images

There are few human controversies: wars, feuds, marital strife, personal disagreements between friends, etc. where one side represents the angels and the other side the devils. Of course, sometimes individuals and groups deliberately align themselves with evil, a more serious situation. Terrorist and satanic groups (including freemasons), drug and sex trafficking cartels, etc. enthusiastically embrace evil. But even in those cases, the members often are a mixed bag. Only God knows the percentages of good and evil in a person's heart. Is there anyone on earth who has never done a good deed? I think that would be a hard case to prove in court. Jesus Himself made that clear through the words of St. Matthew:

Are We Catholics "In Season and Out of Season?"

Heaven is NOT inclusive! Don't lose it for the fleeting pleasures of this world!

I'm a fan and follower of Mundabor's blog and found this statement on today's post sobering:

The Need for Supernatural Perspective

Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven earth
As is immediately evident, our world is absorbed by political and secular concerns which seek as an ultimate goal a human utopia on earth, failing to recognize that this life is merely a way-station to eternal life and supernatural happiness in the next. This warped perspective ignores the character of God and the nature of ultimate reality professed by the Roman Catholic Church. It gives scant recognition to the divine and spiritual life. Implicit is a lost vision of Christ, extraordinary naivete, and a complete lack of logic.

A true Catholic perspective comprehends that our current natural, physical and material existence is only a part of reality, and a minor part at that. The essence of reality lies in the supernatural realm. As our Roman Catholic Church constantly emphasizes, we are on earth "to know, love and serve God in this world so that we may be happy with Him forever in heaven." We are human beings destined for eternal life.

"We are all People of the Book" - The biggest lie ever told

This is the biggest lie ever told.
Christians, Jews and Muslims are not all "people of the book" as Islam and multiculturalists want us to think. The ancient meaning of "people of the book", which Muhammad stole and placed in his Quran to twist the truth, only referred to Christians and Jews. The term was never used in reference to Muhammad, Islam - or even religion - since it originated long before Muhammad was ever born.

If we think about "people of the book" in reference to texts used in each religion, the term is negated since all three religions use and believe in a different book - OT for Jews, NT and OT for Christians, Quran for Muslims. The truth is that in his Quran Muhammad planted an ancient term already in use among the Arabs of his day which over later centuries, especially the past 100 years of Islamic influence bearing down upon mankind, morphed into the erroneous belief that all three religions have the same transcendent source, the same God, and the same line of prophets with Muhammad being the best and last of them all.

However the unspoken message when agreeing that we are all "People of the Book" is: "and Muhammad is our prophet because Islam is the one true faith." Why does modern man rely on political correctness for their world view, social media for their opinions, and biased leftist academic books for their history? When utilizing those devices, the truth is never discovered. It lies untouched in the dusty realm of past centuries while revisionist "history" is deviously fabricated.

ISLAM - the preferred religion of Books-a-Million?

Apparently superior to all else
Ever since I called Books-a-Million's (BAM) corporate offices years ago about pornography books (they said they were "art books") placed next to children's Valentine's Day books, I have been interested in "book placement" in BAM and other book stores. "In many big-box stores, publishers pay for good placement on front tables, end caps and window space in the same way General Mills and Procter & Gamble buy space for their breakfast cereals and detergents in supermarkets", says literary agent Andy Ross.

The Valentine's Day story goes as follows: I was perusing the children's Valentine's Day books on a table placed low enough so that children could pick up the books and look at them, when I looked at the table next to the children's table. All books on the second table, also low enough so that children could pick them up and thumb through looking at pictures, were pornography books of adults having sex. Being horrified at the possibility of a child looking at porn, I called the sales person over, then asked that the store manager join us.

Pointing to the children's table next to the porn table I asked whose idea it was to place the two tables together. Was BAM promoting pornography to children? The answer was that they were adult Valentine's Day "art" books and "book placement comes from corporate" so there was nothing they could do.

Of Cleaning Hot Spots and Lamenting "Progressive Preachers"

Have you ever heard of the Fly Lady? She's a whirlwind of activity against CHAOS which stands for "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome." I followed her for awhile trying to get my own clutter under control -- a never ending battle it seems.

This morning while working on one of my "hot spots," a counter filled with newspapers, magazines, junk mail, etc. I came across an article that temporarily halted my purge. Titled Questions for 'progressive' preachers, it was written by the president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Everett Piper.

The Primal Religion of Mankind Must be Identical to God's Revealed Religion

Did God write this in our hearts?
Should Mankind follow the Bible, Christ and Christianity or the Quran, Muhammad and Islam? Here's the answer.

God's Primal Religion
If God expects from us an account of our actions then it is necessary that He gives us a Law for the rule and judgement of those actions. That Law, called the Mosaic Law, the Natural Law, or moral law is written upon the human heart and is the primal religion given to mankind by God. It's God's universal standard of right and wrong rooted in our human nature. Therefore, the first religion which God gave to Man was that natural religion which He imprinted on our very nature when He first created us.

Reflections on The Everlasting Man

I have been enjoying a re-read of The Everlasting Man by G.K. Chesterton and it has amazed me how much went over my head the first time I plowed through this book.  Maybe that’s the problem.

Looking for Something for Your Bookclub?

I'm reading an interesting book that I happened to pick up in our lawyer's office when were refinancing a property we own. He's a committed Christian and we always enjoy our conversations, but what interested me in this book was one of the promotional blurbs in the front. It was by Peter Kreeft who teaches philosophy at Boston College and is a favorite writer of mine for his "Socrates" series. Here's an interview where he talks about it.

The book getting thumbs up from Kreeft is Lee Strobel's, The Case for Christ. Strobel is an investigative journalist who traveled a personal spiritual journey from atheism to faith. He approaches the "case for Christ" like a detective/lawyer examining the evidence. Each chapter begins with a real-life criminal case examining evidence. Among the subjects examined are the eyewitness evidence, the documentary evidence, the physical evidence, etc. He even looks at evidence that rebuts the case. He interviews experts in each area who present their proofs for the case. And it's interesting to see that there is more eyewitness and documentary evidence for the existence of Christ than for historical figures like Alexander the Great, Herod, and even Pontius Pilate.

I'm halfway through and am so impressed I just ordered two dozen copies of the book to share with others. It's that good.

What makes it especially useful for book clubs is that every chapter ends with discussion questions and suggestions for further reading. I really recommend The Case for Christ. I plan to give one to my pastor and our deacon. And who knows, if someone expresses curiosity about Christianity, it's a great resource to have on hand.

The ACLU Never Sleeps in their Zeal to Promote Intolerance....

against Christians. They will gladly promote atheism anywhere anytime.

Free Speech vs. Sound of Silence

Why not send the grinches at the ACLU a Christmas card. Enclose a prayer. It's becoming an annual rite and who knows what impact all those prayers can achieve against the enemies of God? Heap those burning coals of the Holy Spirit on their heads and pray for the graces of conversion to move their hard hearts. Don't forget to wish them a "Merry Christmas."

Wow! Two Thumbs Up for This Black Bishop...

Calling for Christians and Jews to exit the Democratic party en masse because Democrats at their convention "declared war" on Christians:
"We will not be treated like pawns in your power game!...The Ku Klux Klan did not do nearly as much to destroy black life as Planned Parenthood has done. Millions of black babies, unborn, unable to live because of the union between Planned Parenthood and the Democrat party....I am personally insulted by the comparison of being black to being homosexual....This is done for the purpose of manipulating people emotionally and getting them to buy into the acceptance of homosexuality....Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord!"
I am proud to claim this man as a fellow Virginian.

Live for God!

Holy Week is a good time to reflect on living our lives "under God." Lord, help us to do Your will every day with every breath we take, with every word we speak, with every step we take. Help us to return good for evil and never to harbor hate toward our neighbors. Help all who are enslaved by sin to be freed by the grace of repentance and reform and a desire to be conformed to You, not the world. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
