Sometimes Ya Just Gotta Laugh! Steve Skojec is an "Empath."

I used to read Steve Skojec and liked his articles until I noticed how vitriolic and nasty he could be to people who disagreed with him. I don't mean people who engaged in tirades and ad hominem attacks; I mean people who just politely disagreed and tried to engage in Socratic dialogue. 

Nope! He would have none of it! If you don't love everything I say, you hate me!

He blocked a friend of mine for an innocuous comment. "Well," I thought, "Here's a man who is totally full of himself. Time to move on." So I stopped reading and did, in fact, move on, leaving OnePeterFive off my daily visit list. Now that Skojec no longer runs the site, I visit again.

Of Cults and Cult Leaders and the Sad Story of Fr. Jonathan Morris

It's painful to read the stories about former priest, Jonathan Morris, and his exit from the Legionairies of Christ and the priesthood. Steve Skojec wrote about his own experience with the Legionairies in Why I'm Not So Quick to Judge Jonathan Morris for Leaving the Priesthood. I laughed a little when I read the article (about not judging) because, as my colleague Chriss experienced personally, Skojec can be pretty quick to judge someone if he or she dares to disagree with him even in small matters. But that's a discussion for another day.

Pope Francis and the Eclipse of the Sun of Catholic Truth

OnePeterFive is always thought-provoking and is one of my favorite websites. Steve Skojec wrote an article today about the eclipse of the sun using the heavenly event as a metaphor. Quoting a priest friend who encouraged him in his discouragement (Isn't that a common state for faithful Catholics these days?), he wrote:

When the Pope is an Abusive Father, It's Blow after Blow!

Hmm...What can I do today to beat up the faithful?
I know, I'll have La Civilta Cattolica discuss reopening
the question of women priests. Yes, that'll do it. 

It's clear to anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear that things are not well with Holy Mother Church these days with Pope Francis at the helm. (See the articles linked below.) The barque of Peter can never sink, but she is certainly being drilled full of holes by the pope and his liberal cabal that act more like mafia dons than apostles.

Faithful Catholics need to pray, but not to be naive about what's happening. Has the Lord allowed this because lack of faith and our lukewarmness? There is a saying that you get the leaders you deserve. Read these articles and then make a Lenten resolution to grow in faith by studying Church dogma, in hope by reading the lives of the saints, and in charity by loving and sharing the truth with others. We are the light of the world. If the Vatican is turning off the lights, get out the candles!
