On Friday, January 20, a set of people gathered in our Nation’s capital to march for...what? You may be as confused as I. A Women’s March? I’m a woman, should I be marching for this? I quickly discovered that the march was centered on a pro-abortion, anti-Trump, pro-Planned Parenthood agenda. Well that surely can’t represent all women, but since it’s called the Women’s March it must include women of all political mindsets. But, no, upon further investigation I discovered that not only did this march promote values that surely a good number of American women disagree with, but also they refused to allow women of other value sets to sponsor or march with them -- specifically pro-life women. These women were not marching for me. The Women’s March did not represent this millennial woman!

Without Grandma's Yes to Life, this Astronaut Wouldn't Have Been Born!

When Barack Obama championed abortion saying he wouldn't want his daughters "punished" with a baby, he was essentially willing the death of his grandchildren if they had the misfortune of being conceived at the "wrong" time in their mothers' lives. But he also willed the non-existence of everyone who might be descended from that line. One can only wish that he would be given the vision of what could have been -- the reverse of George Bailey's experience in It's a Wonderful Life. George got to see what the world would have been like had he never lived. Those who kill their children never get to see what life would have been like had their children survived.

But sometimes real life provides the "what could have been" scenario. A story published in the news recently (I blogged about it yesterday.)  told of an elderly woman who was raped as a young teen in 1929 and released her child for adoption after spending a month loving and cuddling her. She prayed to meet her daughter again before she died and recently that prayer was answered. The daughter she met was a mother of six one of whom is Mark Lee, a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate and former astronaut who participated in four space shuttle missions spending 33 days in orbit, circling the globe 517 times, and traveling over 13 million miles.

Can you imagine a movie about the family dynasty of this woman whose decision had such an impact on so many? Her story is the story of every woman who chooses life for her child: a rich future filled with unlimited potential. And then there's the flip side, the world without the millions of little ones murdered before birth. We'll never know how different the world would be had they lived?

George Bailey's guardian angel, Clarence, shows him what his world would look like if he never lived saying, "You really had a wonderful life; don't you see what a mistake it would be to throw it all away?" And Pottersville is, indeed, an ugly and dark place. But is it an unfamiliar one? Isn't our own country becoming Pottersville on a grand scale as we sink into economic disaster and moral depravity? It makes me wonder. What could have been had the mothers of the millions of aborted children let them live? What would our world like with all those individuals made in the image and likeness of God survived? We'll never know. Instead we are condemned to live in the Pottersville of destroyed lives.
