I'm reading the USCCB document on the Eucharist approved at their do-nothing November conclave. 

It didn't take me very far into the document before I laughed sardonically and rolled my eyes. In fact it was the third paragraph:

Many of the faithful appear to have had their faith and their desire for the Eucharist strengthened by such a long separation.

Really? 

I don't think so, just judging from the sparser attendance at my local novus ordo parish since Wuhan and the bishops' kowtowing to Caesar. But that's a subjective observation of one small faith community. 

So let's take a look at a recent survey conducted by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) which interviewed several thousand young Catholics between the ages of 18 and 35 from all over the country.

Sunday Meditation: On Receiving Jesus in Holy Communion

I'm reading the initial magazine from W.A.K.E.U.P. 

What a beautiful apostolate! You can see and read this powerful issue here which focuses on chastity, exposes the new sexual revolution, and emphasizes traditional family values. What a resource for families, especially families with teenagers!

One article by Fr. Ed Broom, offers "Ten Ways to Win the Battle for Purity." Of course the sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion are paramount in his list.

"A good confession," Father tells us, "can transform our souls ito the beauty of freshly fallen white snow on the virgin ground."

But it was Father's description of Holy Communion that made me pause and reread and then read again:

Bring Back Reverence! How? Here are a few suggestions.

"Jesus gives us his living, beating heart in the Eucharist." Bring back the Communion rail.

Since Vatican II all kinds of abuses have crept into our liturgies. I remember the clown Masses, the home Masses with no liturgical vestments, the guitar and mariachi Masses, the butterfly vestments, the crepe paper rainbow and cracked pot in the sanctuary, the sand in the holy water fonts during lent. My goodness, the list is endless!

I recently read The Ottaviani Intervention, compiled by Alfredo Cardinal Ottaviani, Antonio Cardinal Bacci, and A Group of Roman Theologians (who are not named). It is a Critical Study of The New Order of Mass, written shortly after the close of Vatican II.
Because I came into the Catholic Church in 1968, I barely remember attending mass at which the Novus Ordo mass was not in use. I did not realize at the time the change was made that I was witness to a great change in the Church, a change that would reverberate throughout the world causing more damage than we dare to imagine.

And by 2018, all the church's in his diocese will move the tabernacle back where it belongs -- in the center of the sanctuary. Praised be to Jesus Christ and two thumbs up for Bishop Morlino!

And two thumbs up to the pastor of St. Louis Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA. St. Louis was our family parish for over thirty years. During that time we grieved to see the tabernacle moved to a tiny side altar. In the latest renovation, the current pastor, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler, moved Jesus back where he belongs to the center of the Church.

When a worshiper enters a Catholic Church, there should be no question about its purpose, the honor and glory of God especially in the Real Presence of His Son here on earth. The larger "house of the Lord" is only there for the worship of the one who dwells within the little golden house on the altar. Thank you, Bishop Morlino and Fr. Zuberbueler. May other bishops and clergymen follow your example to make the house of the Lord a fitting place for worshiping the King of the Universe.

Happy Thanksgiving from Me and George MacDonald!

First things first.

We went to Mass early this morning to thank the Giver of all our gifts. Eucharist means thanksgiving so it is the perfect start to a day giving thanks. We prayed for all our dear ones near and far including everyone whose life has touched ours. That includes you if you are reading this message. May God bless and keep you this Thanksgiving Day and every day of the year.

We are united because we share the same Father God. He loves all His children, even the ones who don't know him. If you don't know Him yet, we are praying for you especially today. And here's a quote from George MacDonald's book, There and Back, from a delightful little character named Barbara, who doesn't know him yet, but sees his fingerprints all around her and longs to know Him. May you share that longing:

Just Fancy!...if God were all the time at our backs, giving us one lovely thing after another, trying to make us look round and see who it was that was so good to us! Imagine him standing there, and wondering when his little one would look round, and see him, and burst out laughing -- no not laughing -- yes, laughing -- and laughing with delight -- or crying, I don't know which! If I had him to love as I should love one like that, I think I should break my heart with loving -- I should love him to the killing of me!

Many of the saints loved him that way and burned out like candles in serving Him. What a blessing to be like them. Make me a burning furnace of charity, Lord!

Desecration of the Eucharist on YouTube

As of today, I'm not posting any more YouTube videos on my blog. Desecration of the Eucharist is apparently the approved policy of the video channel. Starting with PZ Myers desecration, there are now a series of such acts on YouTube and Catholics can expect to see more. Until YouTube changes its policy to halt these obscenities, I'm through with YouTube.

These desecrations are a powerful witness of why we must return to Communion on the tongue which offers much less opportunity to steal hosts for desecration. Of course, if a disturbed or wicked individual is intent on this behavior, nothing will stop him. Please make acts of reparation for the blasphemies and sacrileges against Jesus Christ and our Blessed Mother. Recite the Litany of Reparation and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the deluded souls who engage in what is a true hate crime against the Lord of universe. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy.

More Desecration of the Eucharist

Desecrating the Holy Eucharist is getting to be epidemic. YouTube is filled with videos of poor deluded individuals finding mindless ways to treat the Body of Christ with disrespect and blasphemy. I think it's pointless to comment on these things. As Jesus said, don't cast your pearls before swine. A priest explained that reading to me one time. He said swine will tear to pieces anything cast into their pens. Placing the truth before someone who essentially has identified himself with swine will just see him tearing into the truth while it has no effect on his state of soul. Pray for these poor deluded individuals. Put YouTube on notice about this by visiting America Needs Fatima and joining their petition to YouTube.
