Optical Illusions and Reality: In the Age of AI, What Can You Believe?

Sitting at my computer this morning I experienced an interesting optical illusion. Looking across the field through the "frame" of two tree trunks, I saw the head of a roman wearing a laurel wreath in profile. He looked very much like this:

As the wind blew his mouth opened and closed as if he were speaking. Of course, I knew it was just an illusion created by my brain, but it fascinated me and got me thinking about illusions and truth.

On this sad anniversary, let's remember that Trump was on the scene two days after the attack bringing in hundreds of his workers to rebuild. The fake news is denying it, but here he is being interviewed by German media on September 13th. The media will do anything they can to discredit this president. It's time to pull the plug on their lies!

How many have connections to now-deceased serial rapist and child molester Jeffrey Epstein? We'll never know because there are few investigations of virtue-signaling liberals and Epstein isn't around any more to tell the tale and expose his partners in orgy.

These establishment types are simply soldiers to the president. And soldiers are nothing but a great leader’s tool.

"It's a business....They've gotta do what they gotta do to make the money." Which proves the accuracy of the old adage - follow the money. "Trump is good for business right now." And, of course, they're talking about the rabid, mad dog attacks. It pleases their liberal viewers. And, hey! Did we mention it's good for ratings?

I'm working my way through the February issue of Chronicles and was intrigued by Scott Reichert's article, Why Fake News Matters. He points out that fake news comes from both sides of the political spectrum and seems to be motivated by agendas on both the left and the right to damage opponents.

I agree! And it's equally repulsive whatever the source. Fake news isn't a new problem. Aesop addressed it in his fables 500 years before the birth of Christ. Remember the little boy who cried "wolf!"?

I was concerned about fake news long before anyone coined the term. For years, a few of my email friends, one in particular, forwarded all kinds of questionable articles. Sometimes they wrote later to say it wasn't true after all. One friend began sending things out prefaced by, "I don't know if this is true or not, but...."
