Commentary from Tom McFadden of Front Royal on Yesterday's Rosary Crusade

My husband and I attended the rosary at St. John the Baptist in Front Royal yesterday to pray for our poor country and the world as part of the world rosary crusade. Christ the King and Mary His Mother represent the greatest hope for our poor, deluded civilization immersed in a putrid swamp of evil. Yes, we need to fight on the secular level: fight to get sane people on our local supervisors' boards and school boards, fight for decent national representation. But the battle begins on our knees storming heaven for the supernatural help to fight the real enemy -- Satan, the lord of the world.

St. Jean Vianney, patron of parish priests, pray for us.

I love priests! How much I pray that they will all imitate the great patron of parish priests, St. Jean Vianney. I heartily recommend the little gem, Eucharistic Meditations of the saint which you can order here. I've cycled through the meditations once and am beginning again. The spiritual benefit of reading these is such a blessing! I intend to use it as my "sermon" for all the virtual Masses I pray in front of the tabernacle until public Masses are restored. And I've already given copies to two priest and one to a friend and ordered three more. St. Jean Vianney, pray for all our clergy that they will love the Eucharist with the same fervor that you did.

Sunday Meditation: Want to Terrify the Devil?

Follow this advice from Fr. Gerard Saguto, FSSP

"It has become evident that we cannot all just get along -- and maybe that is a good thing -- but how we don't get along is very important. We do not go lopping off heads; rather, with firmness of faith, we go to the Cross and profess unashamedly the divine identity of the Crucified, ready to absorb what comes in a charitable effort to evangelize those steeped in the darkness of Islam and every other false religion. Always remember: the weapons of Christianity -- devout prayer, penance, the Rosary, and (most especially) the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass --- wage more terror in hell than a bomb does in an airport....No prayer, no sacrifice goes unremarked by our merciful Father in heaven.

I'm Back from Retreat, and Feeling a Longing Not to Be.

I miss my retreat already. There is something so wonderful about silence. All the ladies on the retreat were very good about keeping the silence this year, and it's amazing how it opens up possibilities to hear God. When your life isn't filled with chit-chat, the radio, social media, TV, blogging, etc. you can enter into the exhortation, "Be still and know that I am God." I'm longing for it to continue.

This year my re-entry into the noisy world was abrupt. I'm taking part in a conference on "end of life" issues and had to leave the retreat early. To go from complete silence to seeing old friends and meeting new ones, hearing stories discussing serious issues in the culture of death -- well...it's exhausting. I want to go back to the chapel and sit with the Lord and let the world go to hell in a handcart on its own without me.

Larry and I joined the 40 Days for Life at this Denver abortion mill last fall when we were on our cross country trip. I immediately recognized it in the picture. It's time to take our faith to the streets and stop hiding our light under a bushel basket. The demons of blood lust quake in fear at the mere name of Jesus. What do you think they do when he is physically present? God bless Fr. Joseph Hearty and pray for his protection. Satan will be after him big time!
