If I made a list of the most gay parishes in the U.S., Most Holy Redeemer in San Francisco's Castro District would have to be near the top of the list. The scandal there goes on and on. After being directed by the bishop to abstain from participation in the annual gay pride march a few years ago, MHR is back in full sodomy-promotion mode. The faith has disappeared in that parish and many others around the country where priests bless mortal sin. Remember the Bible passage that says a time would come when men call good evil and evil good? MHR illustrates it in spades! Their pastor is a false shepherd leading the sheep down the primrose path to the dropoff into hell. And the bishop who allows this to continue will have to answer for his spineless failure to govern. How long, O Lord? How long? Pray for Fr. Steve Meriwether that he will experience conversion of heart. When priests are mediocre their parishioners are bad. When the priest is actually evil, what will the people be?

Most Holy Redeemer: the Gay Agenda Continues
Anyone familiar with this blog knows all about Fr. Steve Meriwether, the gay enabling pastor of Holy Redeemer in the Castro section of San Francisco, who blesses gay pride parade participants riding a Holy Redeemer trolley and wearing gay T-shirt and has allowed the use of the parish hall for transvestite beauty pageants, card parties, and bingo with sex toys and obscene videoes among the prizes, etc. ad nauseum. Well, the padre can't let Advent alone either. He's arranged a weekly vespers service with a motley crew of worship leaders from other dominations (including the other denomination in the Catholic Church, aka heretics). You don't need to be Catholic to join the vespers' club, but you DO need to be a gay pride advocate. So who are the players? Fr. Meriwether, of course. Episcopal Rev. Jay Emerson Johnson on the staff at the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. Johnson is enamored by the "intersections of queer theory and Christian traditions." (Does that mean the Advent candles are phallic symbols for flamers?) Rev. Jeff Bert is a lapsed Catholic, self identified gay man, and an associate pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) of San Francisco. Among MCC's positions is its commitment to "marriage equality" for LGBT folks. The last participant is Ms. Kaya Oakes, a liberal Catholic and gay proponent as well. (Surprise!) All the vespers' players support same-sex marriage and the repeal of Proposition 8.

Now the question for inquiring Catholics is, "Where in heaven's name is Archbishop Niederauer?" Apparently still tolerating and enabling Fr. Meriwether and his gay agenda. Remember the sacrilege below? Fr. Meriwether continues as a priest in good standing. My friend Fr. Haley, on the other hand, is out in the cold. If this doesn't make you angry, it should!

The Scandal of a Homosexual Parish!
The phrase "homosexual Catholic parish" should be an oxymoron. Unfortunately, it's not. In fact, as New Ways Ministry's website shows, there are hundreds across the United States including two in my home diocese of Arlington, VA, Our Lady Queen of Peace (OLQP) in Arlington and St. Francis in Triangle. OLQP is well known for its dissent as well as its promotion of the gay lifestyle. A former pastor, Fr. James Healy, died of AIDS a few weeks after "coming out" although his public profession was anti-climactic since everybody knew it already.
Some of the churches listed on the New Ways' list are well known for their scandals: St. Joan of Arc in Minneapolis, Holy Redeemer in the Castro section of San Francisco, the Paulist Center in Boston, and St. Francis Xavier in New York City. That these parishes are allowed to continue to scandalize the faithful is shocking! That their pastors openly work to advance the kingdom of Satan (who loves sodomy and lust) is scandalous. These parishes aren't encouraging chastity for those afflicted with same-sex attraction. Rather they encourage them to wallow in lust because gay "love" is good.
One of the most egregious of these men is Fr. Steve Meriwether, the pastor of Most Holy Redeemer. The scandals coming out of that parish are legion. For the latest about the former vice president of the pastoral council who is the "master" in a master/slave homosexual relationship go here.
If you really believe the sex scandals in the Catholic church are over, you aren't paying attention. Whether children are being physically violated, they are definitely being spiritually scandalized and emotionally damaged by the promotion of the homosexual lifestyle as "normal" and "good." It's high time these flagrant pastors are disciplined. If they can't get with the program (i.e., the teachings of Holy Mother Church) let them get out. Pray for priests, especially the bad ones. They will have a heavy accounting on Judgment Day if they do not repent.

If you're unfamiliar with New Ways Ministry, it's the faux Catholic, gay group started by Sr. Jeannine Gramick and Fr. Robert Nugent that promotes the gay lifestyle as a positive good. Their website affirms their involvement in the notorious document Always Our Children released in 1997 that was so bad the Vatican ordered alterations. It was issued in the bishops' names without a single bishop approving it and is filled with so much misleading material that, even after correction, it is a dangerous document. Bishop Bruskewitz issued an excellent commentary warning against it. In 1999 Sr. Gramick and Fr. Nugent were ordered by the Vatican to sever their ties to New Ways Ministry. The disciplinary document reads:

The ambiguities and errors of the approach of Father Nugent and Sister Gramick have caused confusion among the Catholic people and have harmed the community of the Church. For these reasons, Sister Jeannine Gramick, SSND, and Father Robert Nugent, SDS, are permanently prohibited from any pastoral work involving homosexual persons and are ineligible, for an undetermined period, for any office in their respective religious institutes.New Ways ministry continues to do its evil work as do homosexual parishes that promote the gay lifestyle.

Gay Hate Crimes Continue
In the wake of the victory of Proposition 8, acts of vandalism and assault against those who supported the pro-traditional marriage effort continue. Ironically, last weekend gays even attacked a Catholic Church in the Castro district of San Francisco that orthodox Catholics have criticized time and again for supporting the homosexual agenda and marching in gay pride parades. Most Holy Redeemer pastor Steve Meriwether said, “I think it's unfortunate that they selected our community to attack, because it's the wrong one." (Read more...Interesting comment by the padre. Exactly what is the "right" community to attack? One presumes he means a church that considers sodomy, as did St. Paul, grievously immoral. So go ahead, gay vandalizers, paint swastikas on churches that preach against sodomy, assault old ladies who challenge your lifestyle, and vent your spleen by sending envelopes filled with white powder to churches that dare to disagree with you --- just not MHR where the wolf in sheep's clothing tickles your ears, blesses your gay pride events, and lets you hold lewd gay events in the church hall.
Well, Fr. Meriwether's position is not surprising since Most Holy Redeemer is up to its ears mucking around in the gay lifestyle. You can also find much information here about this scandalous parish which allows active homosexuals involved in public scandal to hold a number of visible posts. David Differding, Coordinator of the Liturgy Planning Group participated in the 2008 "Golden Dildeux Awards" and received a trophy. Differding was the Master of Ceremonies when Archbishop Niederauer visited the parish in 2007. He's the bald fellow next to Fr. Merriwether in the photo above.
Pray for all these poor deluded children of God, especially Fr. Merriwether, their false shepherd.
