Is the Diocese of Wheeling/Charleston Planning to Oppose Parental Rights?

This morning I received an email from Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute describing how the Diocese of Wheeling/Charleston plans to join a lawsuit against the state over a bill giving parents the freedom to choose vaccinations for their children. If true, it's a shocking position!

Does a Catholic Diocese have more rights over children than their parents? Not according to canon law.

A School Choice Success Story

Some commenters here oppose school choice because of the involvement of the government. And that certainly is a danger. But for children in public schools, the school choice movement offers an escape from horrible failed schools. How many people would willingly put their children in the shop class of the freak from Canada with the prosthetic breasts? The man impersonating a woman was fire from his last school, but has a new gig where he can continue to impose his transgender insanity on the kids. I won't post his photos here, but you can check out the new school where the kids will be assigned specific doors they must use to enter and exit the school. Inconveniencing the kids doesn't matter; catering to the transgender scandal trumps all!

Propaganda and Brainwashing Kids: It's What the Public Schools Do!

Don't believe your eyes and ears; just keep telling yourself this girl is a guy!

My dad was career navy. Our last home was in Elkridge, MD in Howard County. So when I
read this article about a Howard County English teacher using a transgender video in a middle school English class (8th grade), my ears perked up.

My Son’s English Teacher Showed a Transgender Activist’s Video in Class. Here’s What I Did Next.

Fight Virginia's Transgender Guidelines for the Safety and Protection of Your Children

Yesterday I posted the information about Virginia guidelines being developed that will seriously damage our children. It's time to fight for integrity and truth. Boys cannot be girls and girls cannot be boys no matter how confused they are by their feelings. It's time to stop the madness and protect our kids. Contact the Virginia Department of Education and make your opposition to this known.

Virginia Parents, The Schools Are Subverting Your Authority! Wake Up!

Virginia is a leader in perversity in the schools and has been for decades. Back when my kids were youngsters in elementary school 35 and more years ago, Fairfax County was promoting Planned Parenthood style sex ed. I went and previewed some of the materials. Parents were presented as the enemy. In a movie titled Hassles and Hangups, narrated by Michael Douglas, parents were the ones who caused all their kids problems by "hassling" them and giving them "hangups." Parents were depicted screaming at their kids. Ah... but they could go to the friendly school counselor to get all the help they needed (and all the drugs and plugs). I overheard the facilitator say to someone after the movie that they were showing the "least controversial" items.

Really!

From the Mouths of Babes: There are Still Some REAL Catholic Schools

Rejoice! And pray for these young people. They are the future of the Church and the future of our country. May God multiply their numbers!

On Grammar and The Abolition of Man

What is education doing
to our children?
I just finished reading C.S. Lewis' The Abolition of Man, and, it illustrates what I was saying in my last post -- words matter. Not only that, but the way words are put together, i.e., grammar, matters as well. The saying, "The pen is mightier than the sword." cuts two ways. The pen can be used to spread the truth and goodness as Dante does in The Divine Comedy or the pen can be used to spread the lie and evil like the works of Marx and Hitler.

Lewis' book is about education and how relativism leads to the "abolition of man" making him little more than a social experiment of his "conditioners." It begins with a discussion of an unnamed work Lewis calls the Green Book which is a "little book on English intended for 'boys and girls in the upper forms of schools.'" Lewis doesn't name the book or the authors because, "I do not want to pillory two modest practising (sic) school-masters who were doing the best they knew." At the same time he decries the evils he sees in the "actual tendency of their work."

He particularly emphasizes a "momentous" paragraph where the authors attribute statements of judgment to personal feelings when they write, "This confusion is continually present in language as we use it. We appear to be saying something very important about something: and actually we are only saying something about our own feelings."

Good News for Catholic Teacher Mark Smythe

Last month I posted about Orlando Catholic Social Studies teacher, Mark Smythe, being threatened with firing for quoting St. John Bosco's criticism of Islam.

The diocese, like many infected by liberalism these days, was punishing him for telling the truth after the Huffington Post rallied all the haters to get him fired. They failed.

Read about it at the Florida Family Association and if you were one of those who emailed or called the diocese or prayed for a good outcome -- give yourself a pat on the back!

What Did You Learn in Kindergarten?

The Joyful Illiterate Kindergarteners of Finland

I love this article because it shows a learning program that treats children like real little individuals who need to be children. No wonder Finnish schools are doing so much better than those in America.

I remember my own kindergarten experience.

Topsy and Tuptim Discuss Stuff Off the Cuff (Chapter 7 of Amoris Laetitia)

The pope, thinking Topsy and Tuptim are eco-fascists
Topsy and Tuptim meet at the playground with their grandchildren for a play date. They sit on a bench drinking coffee and watching the youngsters climb the ladders of the “castle” and slide down the chutes while they discuss the study session on Chapter Seven.

Topsy: Aren’t the children sweet. We're so blessed in our grandchildren. (Calling to a child at the top of the slide)...Be careful, Max! Wait for Bianca to get off.

Tuptim: We sure are. When I’m tempted to give up on the world I make a play date with the kids. (Laughing)...There’s nothing like getting down and dirty with a three-year-old to give you a fresh perspective.

Thought for the Day: What are you Teaching your Children?

Or even more importantly -- what are you allowing your children to be taught?

When you consider the situation of religion teacher Patti Jannuzzi being fired for speaking the truth on her Facebook page, and when you consider the constant brainwashing of children (even in Catholic schools) on tolerance for homosexual activity, and when you consider a host o:f other subjects like evolution, sex ed, etc. all being shoved down the throats of little ones.....

Well...maybe it's time to get back to basics and what the Church has taught for millennia about the truths of the faith and the obligation to pass them on.

Read these words of wisdom from Pope Pius XI (1939):

A Message for Graduates: Don't Forget Where You Come From!

Rachel with her brothers in times gone by!
Another grandchild milestone yesterday -- our sweet granddaughter, Rachel, graduated from 8th grade at All Saints School in Manassas and heads to Pope John Paul the Great in August. During his homily, the pastor, Fr. Bob Cilinski, talked about memories -- how memories need to take us into the future. It reminded me of what I always told our college-bound children. "Don't forget where you come from."

The world is filled with temptations to forget.

Forget everything your stodgy old parents told you about virtue and goodness. Live for today. Enjoy life. Eat, drink, twerk, fornicate, and be merry. "Just do it!"

Forget what all your teachers said about knowledge and education being for the purpose of committing yourself to the common good and making the world a better place. No, it's all about you and all about now. Eat, drink, twerk, etc.

Forget what the Church says about loving God first, keeping the Commandments, serving you neighbor, etc. Think about yourself first. You only go around once. Eat, drink twerk, etc.

Yup, the prince of this world wants to fill your head with thoughts of selfish pleasures and a world whose boundaries are your skin -- where you are the tinpot dictator of all you survey. He doesn't want you remember God, or family, or your eternal destiny. And all that "happiness" he promises? It's nothing but a beautifully packaged lie. When you open his "gift" it's filled with a rotting, maggot-covered corpse.

So, graduates, remember where you come from and where you are going. You are the apple of God's eye and He loves you. Don't ever forget that and live like a child of the King with dignity, walking in grace and beauty accompanied by all the angels and saints of God. You belong in the court of the King, not wallowing in Satan's garbage dump!

Quick Facts on Common Core

The entire idea of common core flies in the face of the Catholic teaching on subsidiarity. The federal government has no place in regulating the educational system in every small town in America. And as more information comes out about common core, it's apparent it's one more federal disaster. Take a look at some quick facts on common core.

Quote of the Day: From Tom Fleming in Chronicles

"Americans today are the dumbest human beings since our ancestors crawled down from the trees to have a look around to see what they could steal."

Fleming's article in the September issue of Chronicles (which is not online) outlined the disastrous result of our current education system where feelings are more important than facts and cooperative learning is more important than getting the correct answer. Rachel Jeantel illustrates his point with her statement that, "Well, the jury, they see their facts. My thought of the jury, they old, that's old-school people. We in a new school, our generation, my generation."

And that, friends, is the problem. The "new school" is more focused on raising sheep for the elite government bosses to herd than in educating critical thinkers who may actually stand up to them and kick them across the field into the ditch.

Portland Teacher Facing Dismissal for Opposing Planned Parenthood

Do you think he'd be facing dismissal if he had the kids write Jesus on a piece of paper and told them to put it on the floor and stomp on it?

Put These School Officials in Straightjackets

Hello Kitty assault weapon
Five-year-old designated "terrorist" because she challenged classmate to shoot it out with her Hello Kitty bubble gun (which was at home at the time).

Next thing we know Hello Kitty bubble guns will be designated assault weapons by Diane Feinstein.

The child was required to get a psych evaluation, but we all know who the real nuts are. Which just goes to show that working for the government makes you crazy. And the higher up you are, the more in need of the straight jacket and the padded cell.

This would be hilarious except for the serious ramifications for the child and her family. I hope they sue the dickens out of the school! Are teachers today really so silly that they can't solve a problem in the classroom between two five-year-olds? When my fourth graders were mean to each other, I always cited the golden rule and urged them to treat each other with respect (the BIG rule I had in my classroom). Did they always do it? Of course not, but their mistakes were learning opportunities. Today, respect has been replaced with correct, politically correct that is. Teach your children to be critical thinkers and question everything they are told by their teachers. If it doesn't stand the test of truth and common sense, ditch it. Just because someone is in a position of authority doesn't mean he's telling you the truth! And that goes for men in roman collars and miters.

More here. It's time the names of these people were published so they could be held up to the public ridicule they deserve. (Note the elementary school photo in the article. Doesn't it look like a jail? If it were my child or grandchild, she'd never go back. I'd home school in a nano-second for her mental health and safety.)

Narcissism on the Rise among Students

Study reveals rocketing sense of entitlement on U.S. campuses
When kids hit the real world and find they're idea of themselves and their abilities is an inflated lie, what happens? "These young egotists can grow up to be depressed adults."

An excerpt from the article:
Despite a library's worth of self-help books promoting the idea we can achieve anything if we believe we can, there's very little evidence that raising self-esteem produces positive, real-world outcomes.
'If there is any effect at all, it is quite small,' said Roy Baumeister of Florida State University, who authored a 2003 paper on self-esteem studies.
Baumeister found that while successful people did have high-self esteem in many cases, it was unclear what actual caused their success if the first place.

Both self-esteem and success were often influenced by another factor.
'Coming from a good family might lead to both high self-esteem and personal success.' Baumeister said. 'Self-control is much more powerful and well-supported as a cause of personal success. Despite my years invested in research on self-esteem, I reluctantly advise people to forget about it.'
Twenge compared it to a swimmer trying to learn a turn who needs to believe that learning the skill is possible but who won't actually be aided in acquiring that skill by their belief.

How Islamic Terrorists are Infiltrating Our Schools

This video is a wake up call to parents. See how much money Islam is pumping into our schools -- $28 million to Georgetown, for example. Is anybody really surprised that they cover up Christian symbols when Obama comes on campus?

And listen to what they are doing in middle school in public schools with three weeks of Muslim indoctrination. This is horrifying! Children pick Islamic names, wear Islamic clothing, study cards about Islamic terms like Jihad ("a struggle by Muslims against oppression, invasion, and injustice"), are taught Islamic prayers, etc. Other activities: become a Muslim warrior during the Crusades.

If any of this was done for Christianity or Judaism the ACLU would be up in arms. This must be stopped! And the first step is throwing out the chief proponent of Islam in the country, Barack Hussein Obama. Don't miss a minute of this important video!

"We came all together here to become Americans...to keep it a beacon of light.....To those who hate America, if America is so bad we'll give you a one-way ticket to any country you choose and leave America to us!" Amen!

UVA Medical Center Performs Abortion

The University of Virginia has been using student health funds to finance abortions for years. Should a publicly funded university be doing in-house abortions in the first place? There are two abortion mills in Charlottesville to exploit young coeds. Why should the medical center do abortions?

In addition, do parents financing their children's college education know some of their money may facilitate killing their grandchildren? My husband and I sure didn't when we had two young adults at UVA. But it comes as no surprise, since we could see the school was a haven for sexual promiscuity. On one visit to our daughter's dorm early on a Saturday morning, a young man came out of a room on the "girls' wing" in his underwear and went down to the "girls'" bathroom. The odor of vomit assaulted us at the dorm entrance. UVA was all about partying and fornicating.

The university has performed over 2600 abortions in the last twenty years.
