Don't Let a Single One of Those Little Babies (especially the minorities) Get Away!

The health care debate goes on and the pro-aborts are mobilizing groups all over the country to make sure abortion is kept in the health care bill. We wouldn't want any of those little parasites in the womb to get away now would we, especially the "human weeds" (as Margaret Sanger considered the poor, Irish Catholics, minorities, in fact anyone who wasn't a WASP.)

Politico has an interesting article today. Note that the White House always has time to talk to the pro-aborts. When two million tea party activists hit town, they were ignored. When 20,000 rallied in less than a week to protest Obama-Pelosicare, they were ignored. But get a handful of NOW and Planned Parenthood harpies together and the White House puts out the red carpet and welcomes them for a "frank exchange":

ABC’s Jake Tapper, who first reported on their meeting with chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and other senior advisers to the president, wrote that the abortion-rights advocates had a “frank exchange” with administration officials, according to a source who participated.

Anybody want to read the monstrosity? Let's play, "Find the Earmarks"

Here's the bill, H.R. 3962, all 1,990 pages of it. The question is -- how many bribes were built into it to buy votes? Let's play, "Find the Earmarks!"

Here's an interesting untraceable goody for selected Democratic supporters and voters will never be the wiser:
One such earmark suddenly appeared in H.R. 3962 in Section 1745, “Nursing Home Supplemental Payment Program.” This provision did not exist when the Committee on Energy and Commerce had completed its work. Section 1745 creates a new $6 billion slush fund with the Medicaid program to dispense to nursing homes.

This new fund has several unique characteristics that set it apart from the normal operations of Medicaid. First, payments to Medicaid nursing homes are made through states and require a state to match the federal funds. Under this section, there is no state money and the decision as to what facilities will receive the money will be made by Secretary Sebelius (and therefore no state involvement in decision making). Although the legislation provides $1.5 billion for each year in the period 2010-2013, the Secretary could hold the money for 2010 and 2011 and make big lump sum payments in 2012. Second, she does not have to go through any formal rulemaking process to award the funds. Third, her decision is final and is not subject to any type of review. This is important because facilities that receive the money will have a comparative advantage over its competitors. Finally, the Secretary will be required to tell the respective committees of Congress which facilities received the money, but is not obligated to tell anyone else.
Which nursing homes do you think Kathleen will shower with sweets? Perhaps those in districts of Democrats that contribute to their campaigns? Six billion could buy a lot of votes. Did you note her discretion to hold the payments until an election year? Did you notice the secrecy? So much for "openness and transparency" from one of the most corrupt administration/congresses in history. (TO BE CONTINUED...)

He's Here, He's There, He's Everywhere! Dr. Obama & his magic healthcare elixir.

President Obama is out and about this weekend on all the talk shows (well...the liberal talk shows) selling-selling-selling Dr. Obama's Magic Elixir for curing all your aches and pains. Only $900 billion for a ten-year supply. Part of his quack selling technique is to demonize those who debunk the elixir's potency. "It won't work," they say. "In fact it will make you sicker! Drink tea instead."

But the Doc knows how to treat that kind of talk. He told Bob Schieffer of CBS, "The 24-hour news cycle and cable television and blogs and all this, they focus on the most extreme elements on both sides, they can't get enough of conflict. It's catnip to the media right now. And so the easiest way to get 15 minutes of fame is to be rude to somebody." Ah yes, Doc Obama's opponents are rude! They're just trying to keep you from drinking his magic potion because they don't want you to be cured.

Remember, this snake oil salesman is a community organizer and the community organizer uses conflict to sell his elixir. Here's how Saul Alinsky put it, "Your function [is] to agitate to the point of conflict." Dr. Obama needs conflict to freeze his opponents. They are the ones pointing out that Doc Obama is a con man and his elixir is snake oil. So watch for language this weekend that seeks an enemy: the bloggers, conservative talk-radio, insurance companies, etc. Dr. Obama will tell you the tea is poison and the only real cure is his magic elixir. Buy it at your peril. It isn't just sugar water, it's a mix of ingredients downright dangerous to your health.

Obama Wants Single Payer System, i.e. Socialized Medicine

The president is great at saying what he thinks people want to hear, but look behind his back. His fingers are crossed. We could call him the great pretender. Cardinal Francis George got it right when he met with the president last March and told Catholic News Service, "It's hard to disagree with him because he'll always tell you he agrees with you. Maybe that's political. I think he sincerely wants to agree with you. You have to say, again and again, 'No, Mr. President, we don't agree (on abortion)....He said we weren't exporting abortion. I said, 'Yes we are. He would say, 'I know I have to do certain things here. ... But be patient and you'll see the pattern will change.' I said, 'Mr. President, you've given us nothing but the wrong signals on this issue.' So, we'll see, but I'm not as hopeful now as I was when he was first elected."

As Cardinal George's experience indicates, President Obama is either a liar or incompetent. To say that the U.S. isn't exporting abortion when one of his first acts was to dump the Mexico City Policy banning funding abortion through our foreign policy is irresponsible. The president demonstrates over and over that he and the truth are strangers to each other. So when he says he doesn't want a government health care system don't believe it. Pray for him, but don't trust him.

Will you get the swine flu shot?

The hysteria level in the media over swine flu is rising and the best defense against panic is common sense, a deep breath, and a little research. Whether you get the shot is up to you. Get the facts before you make up your mind. There are plenty of sources out there saying yes. Here are a few opposing views (along with an article on clinical trials in children).

Ten things you need to know about the untested and potentially dangerous flu vaccine.

Do You Know What's in the Health Care Plan?

Liberty Counsel has a rundown of the Obama health care plan with identification of issues by section and page number in the bill. There are lots of people saying critics are lying about what's in the bill. Even when we quote chapter and verse, the Obama administration scream "right wing conspiracy." Read it for yourself. It's as bad or worse than what you've heard.

Here's the bill (all 1000+ pages).

Here's Liberty Counsel's rundown on some of the serious issues that should concern taxpayers.

Now I'll itemize a few that concern me (N.B. The numbers in the text are the lines on the page):

1) Rationing. The bill establishes a committee to determine what benefits will be allowed. "There is established a private-public advisory committee which shall be a
15 panel of medical and other experts to be known as 16 the Health Benefits Advisory Committee to rec17ommend covered benefits and essential, enhanced, 18 and premium plans." (p. 30) In view of the fact that the President says the bill will be funded in part by cuts in Medicare, this should raise red flags. What services will be denied to those considered too old or too handicapped to be worth the cost?

2) Illegal Aliens get free care paid for by citizens. "(2) NONRESIDENT ALIENS.—Subsection (a) [which imposes a 2.5% tax] 2 shall not apply to any individual who is a non3 resident alien." (pg. 170)

3) The government will limit and control hospital capacity, another form of health care rationing. "(C) PROHIBITION ON EXPANSION OF FA22CILITY CAPACITY.—Except as provided in para23graph (2), the number of operating rooms, pro24cedure rooms, or beds of the hospital at any25 time on or after the date of the enactment of •HR 3200 IH 1 this subsection are no greater than the number 2 of operating rooms, procedure rooms, or beds,3 respectively, as of such date." Should the feds really be deciding how many beds are available in every community in America? Some things are best decided at the local level. The Catholic Church calls that "subsidiarity."

4) Mandatory end-of-life counseling. This requirement goes on for ten pages (424-434) and gets very specific about counseling on palliative and hospice care, living wills, etc. Having been involved in both the Hugh Finn and Terri Schiavo cases where brain damaged individuals who were NOT comatose and were NOT terminally ill were deliberately murdered by dehydration and starvation, this section gives me the willies. It is clearly oriented toward urging people to refuse life-sustaining treatment when they are not imminently dying. Included in the document is government control over which health professionals can write an end-of-life order. Consider when these documents talk about chronic diseases that are "incurable" encompassed in that language are diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, kidney disease, Down Syndrome, heart disease, and many other chronic conditions.

5) School based health clinics. Those in the pro-life movement have been fighting these clinics for years. They often provide contraception and referral for abortion without parental knowledge or consent. While the bill claims to follow state laws, what is the guarantee tht will be the case. The past is prologue to the future. School-based clinics usurp parents rights and often encourage fornication. (pg. 992 and following)

These are just a few of the items that concern me. There are dozens of others: the government having direct access to your bank account, home visitation programs for pregnant women and families with young children, government data networks of medical records, etc. ad infinitum. The more I read, the less I like it. Government already controls too much of our lives and this bill expands that intrusion exponentially.

Take a look at some of these things for yourself and you'll understand why folks are going out in droves to Town Hall meetings to protest Obama's health plan.

Tell Congress to Use Government-run Health Care if they Inflict it on us.

Congressman John Fleming, a medical doctor from northern Louisiana, has introduced a bill calling on members of Congress to use the same health no-care they plan to inflict on the citizens of America. Unfortunately, the bill does not make it a requirement. For more information about Congressman Fleming's bill and to express your opinion to Congress go here.

Oregon Shows What's in Store for the Elderly - Take the Death Drug, Granny!

EDITORIAL: A euthanasia mandate

"The Oregon health plan last year refused to pay for a recognized drug to prolong the life of lung cancer patient Barbara Wagner even after her oncologist prescribed it. Yet the same bureaucrats told Ms. Wagner that the plan would indeed cover doctor-assisted suicide if she chose that option."

Has anyone said that to Ted Kennedy? Yuh think? Who is more likely to have their health care cut off and to be pressured to choose euthanasia? Rich politicians like Ted Kennedy -- or the poor and minorities.

New Ad Can Help Sink Stinking Socialistic Health Care Plan

The elderly are a growing population in this country. They need to know what Obamacare has in store for them: rationing, encouraging them to sign up to be starved, dehydrated, and denied antibiotics and other ordinary care.
