Connecting the dots between ACORN, SEIU, and Obama

What I know about ACORN, the SEIU and Obama

"I'm quite sure part of Obama and the SEIU's long-term plan is to unionize every American health-care entity. And thuggery toward that end doesn't bother them."

  1. Unionizing America again is not an anti-catholic goal. It has historically been a priority for the church as evidenced by the encyclical Rerum Novarum by Pope Leo XIII.
Even the current Pope Benedict has called for unions and justice for workers worldwide in his recent encyclical. There is no place for thugs on either side: business or labor. But there always room for justice toward the workers of this world.

  2. Don't you think it all depends?
Should workers be forced to unionize?

If employers acted according to Rerum Novarum and Caritas in Veritate (Some do.), it seems like unionizing wouldn't be necessary. And certainly eliminating the secret ballot and intimidating workers to support a union vote, violates the freedom of the individual.

The biggest abuser of workers' rights is the government which has made people wage slaves who no longer have the right to the fruit of their labor. Usury is usury.

  3. Unions have been given excessive power. The idea of collective bargaining is fine until you make it industry wide and national in scope. Then it isn't any longer the "workers" striking against XYZ corporation's offer but the working class trying to run the country. That is an abuse of power manipulated by union thugs. Most of you are too young to remember Jimmy Hoffa's Teamsters striking by doing national slow downs on the highways.
None of this is about justice. It is about the manipulation and extension of power by force.
