"The faith must survive in someone!...The thing that unites us is the Catholic faith itself.....God has given us, even in the midst of this darkness, He has given us oases of light....God has not left us orphans. He has not abandoned us, Yes the shepherd has been struck with the sheep. Maybe we don't need to scatter as much as we thought. Because God has provided us faithful shepherds....So what do we do? We support them.

Remember the Springtime in the Church: Reality is Demographic Winter!
It's bad news for Catholics from a PEW Survey on Religion in America, the first since 2014. For every 100 new Catholics entering the Church, 800 leave. This from Eric Sammons at Crisis Magazine:
No other religion has nearly as bad of a join/leave ratio. For every 100 people that become Protestant, 180 leave. That’s bad, but it’s not Catholic bad. Conversely, for every 100 people who leave the religious “nones” (i.e., they join a religion), a full 590 become part of that irreligious cohort.
Where are the former Catholics going? Of all the former Catholics, 56% become religious “nones” and 32% become Protestant. I think we all know from personal experience that these numbers ring true. What Catholic doesn’t have family members who have become Protestant or have stopped practicing any religion? It’s just part of being an American Catholic these days.

Sunday Meditation: Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus Christ to Fight Our Cultural Insanity!
God's Providence is impeccable! A two-year-old study of the Shroud of Turin recently published by the Daily Express presents us with the Holy Face of Christ. Using the negative image from the Shroud, the scientists have given us a recreation of the Holy Face of Jesus. Not only does the image reflect numerous icon images created throughout the centuries, but he looks almost identical to previous images from the Shroud circulating for years.

Does the Novus Ordo Foster an Environment of Heresy?
Hmm....I was watching Crisis Magazine editor, Eric Sammons, discussing the question Did Online Trads Cause the TLM Crackdown? It's an interesting video. Sammons made the point that if individual's questionable actions cause the suppression of the TLM, then why do not individual's questionable actions cause suppression of the Novus Ordo? Is Fr. James Martin untouchable but Taylor Marshall is a legitimate target?

The Pope is NOT an Absolute Monarch! Catholics Must Understand the Limits of Episcopal Authority!
![]() |
| How many bishops are willing to walk in the footsteps of martyr Bishop John Fisher? |
make all the decisions and impose them on his underlings beginning with the heads of the various departments. They can express their opinions to him, but he is the ultimate authority and if they disagree they can obey anyway or "off with their heads!"
That is not a proper image for the Catholic Church.
The pope is not a dictator with the ultimate power to throw out bishops on a whim because he doesn't happen to like them. Unfortunately, the bishops themselves have promulgated that image by the unjust treatment some have dished out to their spiritual sons. Cancelled priests are a growing problem. I know some of them and it is disturbing to see how unjust some bishops are. The sad truth for those bishops is that you reap what you sow. They will be measured out the same measure and rotten fruit they've dished out to others. Get ready for it, Your Excellencies!

Will Bishop Strickland be Banished to Muck Island!
Editor's note: Msgr. Antall's article struck me immediately when I saw his reference to the book, The Catholics, which was made into a film of the same title later changed to The Conflict. I recommend both the book and the film. It's amazing how prophetic they were. We are now experiencing a very similar situation to the Catholic flock in the movie who are deprived of the Latin Mass and other devotions.
Anyone who is currently attending a Traditional Latin Mass is on a modern Muck Island. We can hope and pray, however, that our modern Fr. Kinsellas, with no belief in Catholic doctrine praying to who knows who from their lotus positions, will be converted. Nothing is impossible with God!
We don't know what happens as time moves forward at the end of the movie. Neither do we know the end of God's story here and now. But we can be ever confident in the reality that "All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and serve according to His purpose."
Welcome to Muck Island

A Touching Portrait of Bishop Strickland from One of His Flock in Tyler!
They're grieving in Tyler. The portrait of Bishop Strickland from a member of his flock varies significantly from some of his critics. The latest negative article for me came from Fr. Raymond de Souza at National Catholic Register. It was a serious hit piece. His portrait of the bishop totally conflicts with this article at Crisis Magazine from a member of Bishop Strickland's flock:
When the Cathedral bells swung five minutes before Mass last weekend, they seemed to know. The Ave sung with the Rosary was so mournful, you’d think someone had died. A light went out in Tyler on Saturday.

We Need Our Faith with Skin On. The aesthetics, music, and reverence prepare us for the reality: THE REAL PRESENCE!
This video is really worth watching. I found his point about our "incarnational sense" absolutely on target. We need our faith with skin on. Here's a bit of what he said beginning with what he, as a former Protestant, felt was a big problem:

Another One Bites the Dust! No Wonder We Don't Trust the USCCB!
The Limits of a Priest’s Right to Privacy
Note the priest's position. It's almost funny. The man using an app to "hook up" with other men looking for sex with other men (Any man will do.). was in charge of....wait for it...."overseeing sex abuse cases."

The Other Side of Francis -- Things for which to be Grateful!
| Where are the other nine? Did only this foreigner return to give thanks? |
Let’s be honest. Actually, let’s state the obvious. Many orthodox Catholics have had it with Pope Francis, as have non-Catholic conservatives who liked previous popes. It’s no stretch to say that a good number detest him. At the very least, many faithful Catholics are frustrated by the current pope. What with the ongoing confusion from Rome, atop the 2018 abuse report from Pennsylvania (with many more states to follow), plus the Cardinal McCarrick fiasco, and the Viganò letters—their patience is exhausted.
