"Vestments soothe, but appointments alarm." John Henry Westen

When Pope Leo walked out on the balcony in Rome clothed in the traditional vestments, one hoped that the exterior matched the interior. Did we have a pope who would restore the faith of our fathers and set us back on the right track? Or would we soon be disillusioned and see that we had a man walking in the footsteps of Francis.

The Latest from the LifeSite News Soap Opera

| John-Henry Westen and Stev Jalsevac |
The new head of LifeSite News is its co-founder Steve Jalsevac who sent out the message below. Is this the whole story? I doubt it and I suspect there are other issues. I was once involved with a contentious fight over who would run a pro-life organization. We ended up in arbitration. The primary issue had nothing to do with the focus of the organization. It was management style and personality conflicts. I'm wondering how much of that played into Westen's firing.

Anchored in Charity: Monday Morning Musing
I often check LifeSiteNews in the morning. Today I read John Henry Weston's commentary. I love the phrase he used, "anchored in charity." Imagine a world where all of us anchor our little boats with charity! Check out the article. It's short but pithy.:
Toward a more excellent way: speaking the truth in charity

When Will the USCCB Come Out in Opposition to the Scandalous Fiducia Supplicans?
Don't hold your breath! This is their pathetic response in answer to the Pope's latest blasphemy against God:
WASHINGTON - In response to the Declaration “Fiducia supplicans” (FS) issued by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith today, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) offered the following statement from its spokesperson, Chieko Noguchi, executive director of public affairs.
“The Declaration issued today by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF) articulated a distinction between liturgical (sacramental) blessings, and pastoral blessings, which may be given to persons who desire God’s loving grace in their lives. The Church’s teaching on marriage has not changed, and this declaration affirms that, while also making an effort to accompany people through the imparting of pastoral blessings because each of us needs God’s healing love and mercy in our lives.”

Some of CM's reporting has facts to back up their assertions. And that's fine. Present the facts; ask the questions; see where they lead. If someone's committed a crime bring criminal charges. Hold those accountable who are proved to be guilty by solid evidence not by rumor, hearsay, and innuendo.

How are we to respond? In times of confusion and crisis Catholics must cling to the doctrine promulgated by Holy Mother Church for two millennia. Let me suggest a good starting place.

Bishop Bruskewitz: A Bold Man of Truth
Are you ready for the persecution? It's here and if you don't toe the party line you are likely to feel the jackboots!
Bishop Bruskewitz tells it like it is with no pulled punches. I wish he were my bishop. Since Bishop Loverde reached 75 in September we are waiting for announcement that his resignation has been accepted and we have a new bishop. I really fear that Pope Francis will give us a shepherd like Cupich. I have certainly been critical of Bishop Loverde, but have always prayed he would stay here because I didn't want to see him promoted. Now I wonder what's in store for us.
Lord Jesus, please protect our diocese and send us a shepherd after your own heart!
