Papolatry refers to the excessive reverence or worship of the pope. It is derived from the combination of "papa," meaning pope, and "latry," which denotes worship or adoration.
Really! Yes, some Catholics put the pope right up there with Jesus Christ, the head of the Church. After all, since the pope is the "visible" head of the Church, he must be a saint who never gets anything wrong. Right?
The laity are not members of the Society so if rumors turn out to be true, I presume we will be told we cannot fulfill our Sunday obligation by going to Mass at SSPX chapels and that they do not have the authority to forgive sins so sacramental confessions will be invalid. And, of course, so will the sacrament of Confirmation and Matrimony. Whew! The sword of Damocles will be over our heads wielded by Cardinal Fernandez of kissing and porno book fame. Really, it boggles the mind. So while Pope Leo embraces and dialogues with Patriarch Bartholomew of the schismatic Easter Orthodox Church, he refuses to meet with the SSPX.

Since Francis cannot do what Henry VIII did - physically torture and kill Catholics - he's doing psychologically with known methods of psychological torture to cause the disintegration of personality - or more to the point, the disintegration of the Traditionalist personality - to the point of acquiescence, that is, to the point that Traditionalists will go without protest into the Novus Ordo Mass.
His only option to kill the Old Mass is to psychologically torture Traditionalists until they give up their recalcitrant ways and to do this entails a new attribute previously not wanted in the character of bishops - cruelty. On the part of Bergoglio it's apparently pagan sadistic cruelty since he seems to derive pleasure from Traditionalists' suffering and humiliation by deleting Jesus within our souls with the killing of the Old Mass, crushing it then putting it to death. Then when psychologically tortured Traditionalists have lost resistance to losing their Faith, they, spiritually broken, will finally surrender and join the dance that is the Novus Ordo.
I don't consider the war in Ukraine "interesting," but horrifying so I'm not going to talk about it except to say, people need to stop listening to the simplistic pap of CNN, MSNBC, and the blathering idiots on The View. I suspect those folks haven't cracked a book since they used Cliff Notes in college and term paper websites for their essays and theses. Have they read the Pandora Papers about Zelensky's offshore stash, one of the things his predecessor was booted for? Do they know anything about the U.S. involvement in the 2014 coup in Ukraine that threw out a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED president and replaced him with someone more agreeable to U.S. interests? Hey, Uncle Joe needed the buddy system so Hunter could cash in on his Ukraine connections. But...I said I wasn't going to talk about the war, so I'll switch to a very interesting item.
Sandro Magister of L’Espresso, a well-known Vatican reporter just released an anonymous memo, under the name "Demos" - Greek for people, that may have been written by a Cardinal. Or, considering the plural nature of the name, perhaps by several insiders. The memo addresses the catastrophic situation at the Vatican and the next conclave which is likely to take place in the next few years. I'm publishing the entire memo with highlighted sections and my comments. As I said, it's interesting. |

Parolin's temperament suggests that as Vatican Secretary of State he will try to take different ecclesiastical sensitivities into account, countering that self-referential aspect of the Church that Francis has always spoken out against. In the true spirit of Vatican diplomacy, Parolin has always been realistic, carefully studying contexts and problems that need to be solved and searching for possible solutions. In the face of the regional conflicts which continue to rock the world – starting with the Middle East – and the risk of new global clashes between old and new superpowers, the Holy See will once again be well placed to offer its wisdom and foresight in order to promote peace. Following Francis' path of pastoral conversion, Vatican diplomacy will be able to offer a creative contribution to Church action, inspired by the Bishop of Rome’s invitation to come out of itself and go out to men and women in the geographical and existential peripheries in which they live.
The Pope's on-line with a new website. I like the YouTube bit myself with the opportunity to see clips of papal liturgies and visits to other countries. Fans can get this via I-phone, Facebook, etc. Now who says the Church is stuck in the Middle Ages?
