There's a psychological term that applies in spades to our age of confusion and chaos. It's called "cognitive dissonance" in the language of mental health and "doublethink" in the language of dystopian literature. Both terms mean the same thing: the act of trying to believe two contradictory things at the same time. 

Sadly, modernist Rome has become the icon of cognitive dissonance and doublethink. The Vatican pays lip service to the unchanging Catholic faith taught for two millennia, while, at the same time, undermining it with modernist claptrap. One bishop says contraception and abortion are wrong. Another says there are circumstances when they're not. Moral relativism takes center stage in the synodal church where sexual deviance is love.

The House passed the Orwellian named "Respect for Marriage" act which enshrines into federal law same-sex marriage. The bill makes two men or two women sodomizing each other equivalent to the marital act blessed by God in the sacramental union of husband and wife. It now goes to the President who announced how happy he will be to sign it into law. 

A Question for Readers in the Archdiocese of San Francisco about the Planned Ordination of Homosexualist Cheerleader James DeWan

Archbishop Cordileone was scheduled to ordain ten men to the permanent diaconate on May 28th. According to reports, James DeWan was one of them, a man with a history of homosexual advocacy and promotion of same sex marriage. Only nine men were ordained on Saturday. Was James DeWan among them? I watched a good bit of the ordination ceremony. I never heard the men's names announced even when they put their hands between the archbishop's and promised obedience. I pray James DeWan was not among these men. He certainly shouldn't have been!

Joseph Sciambra posted screen shots of DeWan's Twitter feed in 2015. DeWan was clearly an enthusiastic apologist for all things homosexual to the extent of being disgusting and blasphemous. I'm posting a few of the screenshots, because I think people need to know and be warned. Would you let your sons associate with this man?

Sodomy is the New Catholic Marriage

On April 24th Belgian Cardinal Jozef De Kesel, the Cardinal-Archbishop of Brussels, said, "The Church must respect homosexuals and lesbians more, also in their experience of sexuality. Twenty years ago I would have spoken differently about it than is the case now. I would then have followed the official teaching of the Church. I now look at it much more 'comprehensively' where respect is central." [He rejects "the official teaching of the Church" in favor of his own personal opinion of respecting sin.]

He went on to say that an ecclesiastical prayer from the Catholic Church is possible for a sodomite relationship between two men or two women as long as it does not start to look like an ecclesiastical marriage between one man and one woman. 

Do You Simply Stand Against What you Oppose, or Do You Witness For What You Believe?

I have just returned from a 12 day road trip with a friend who needed a companion along for the ride to Texas where she had the task of preparing her parent’s home to be sold.  It was also her goal to retrieve some precious treasures still in the house which were too large to be carried on a plane.  One such jewel was a cradle her father had made for his own children, including my friend, and which has now been slept in by most of his grandchildren.  

As we drove along, I read aloud from a tote bag full of books I had selected for the purpose of sharing specific chapters with my friend, a like minded Catholic, thoughtful, very smart, and leaps and bounds ahead of me, a convert, in knowledge of Church history and doctrine. 

Our trip each way took three days in the car so we had a LOT of time to read and discuss and read and discuss.  It was a kind of “retreat from the world” which whizzed by us, as we rolled along from one state to the next, and an opportunity to step outside our daily routines and spend the kind of time you generally only WISH you had with a good friend.

Every time I've hooked up with someone, I'm left with a fuzzy feeling of discontent. Thoughts run through my mind that I've let my body be used. The danger of hooking up with someone is that you risk feeling awful afterwards.

To compare two guys engaging in anal sex to discrimination based on race is an absolute insult to those who worked, and even lost their lives, for civil rights. There is no civil right to do what is impossible. Two men or two women cannot marry!

And the AG's statement about not telling his kids whom they can marry is ridiculous. Should a father be able to marry his daughter if he "loves" her? Just think -- Daddy wasn't abusing his young teenager; he was adding her to the harem. Once marriage is defined by each individual person, there is no limit. If you want to throw out an institution that has been the basis of every society in human history, it seems the burden of proof ought to be on you to show how your actions will benefit the common good? The reality is that we will probably get universal same-sex marriage in the U.S., not through the will of the people, but the same way abortion came -- through the dictatorship of liberal courts.

What does that mean?

The pro-aborts predicted that Roe would end the debate on killing babies in the womb. In reality it was just beginning. But the polarization of the country because of abortion will look like a cakewalk compared to the impact of same-sex marriage. Those who oppose it will be demonized (We already are!) and "gay" activists will use the same intimidation tactics against supporters of traditional marriage as in California against supporters of Proposition 8. Some may become bloody martyrs like Mary Stachowisz. Others will lose their jobs (Some already have.) and become victims of hate-speech legislation which looms on the horizon. Homosexuals will continue to dress anal sex and other disease-ridden practices in a mantel of respectability and the children will pay the price as they teach in our schools that sodomy is normal and offer details on how-to-do-it "safely" which is a joke. Homosexual behavior is more dangerous than smoking and kills a lot younger. Just read the obits columns in "gay" papers and see the ages of the dead homosexuals. Parents who promote their children's perverted behavior don't love them enough to challenge what is clearly wrong both physically and morally. They would rather be "liked' by their children than tell them the truth. God forgive them. And thank God for parents like Phyllis Schlafly who refuse to enter the game.

On this feast of St. Maria Goretti, model of purity, let us pray for our poor country enslaved in lust and reaping its evil consequences.

Randy Engel Comments on Pope's Condom Statement

When I read the pope's comments a few days ago, even in the longer context, I immediately thought how they would be used to promote "safe sex." The comment seemed imprudent to me, at best, better left to the spiritual counsel of a priest working with a hardened sinner. The pope's statement, in the context of an interview, is certainly ripe for misinterpretation. Frankly, I wish he hadn't said it. The faithful are already fighting tooth and claw to hold our ground.

 I posted Janet Smith's comments a few days ago on the matter. Now I'm posting Randy Engel's who I respect very much.

The Lambeth Conference of 1950 should be studied by every Catholic because it set the stage for the Protestant churches, all of which opposed contraception at the time, to fall like dominoes into embracing contraception and "the contraceptive mentality." From use by married couples for serious reasons, contraception quickly became the family limiter espoused by Planned Parenthood, especially with the advent of "the pill" ten years later. So Randy's concerns are legitimate. And I add my lament: "Your Holiness, Why?"

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ -
Having woken this morning, as if from a bad dream, to the reality of Benedict XVI's remarks in favor of condom use for male prostitutes engaging in sodomy, I thought it my duty to set forth the Catholic Church's timeless condemnation of sodomy as enunciated by Saint Peter Damian in his Book of Gomorrah. This medieval treatise on clerical sodomy and pederasty, and the abuse of the Sacraments of Holy Orders and Penance by homosexual bishops, priests, and religious in the Roman Catholic Church was written in the 11th century. Saint Damian believed the vice of sodomy surpassed the enormity of all other vices:

Without fail it brings death to the body and destruction to the soul. It pollutes the flesh, extinguishes the light of the mind, expels the Holy Spirit from the temple of the human heart, and gives entrance to the devil, the stimulator of lust. It leads to error, totally removes truth from the deluded mind. ...It opens up hell and closes the gates of paradise. ...It is this vice that violates temperance, slays modesty, strangles chastity, and slaughters virginity. ...It defiles all things, sullies all things, pollutes all things. ...This vice excludes a man from the assembled choir of the Church. ...it separates the soul from God to associate it with demons. This utterly diseased queen of Sodom renders him who obeys the laws of her tyranny infamous to men and odious to God. ...She strips her knights of the armor of virtue, exposing them to be pierced by the spears of every vice. ...She humiliates her slave in the church and condemns him in court; she defiles him in secret and dishonors him in public; she gnaws at his conscience like a worm and consumes his flesh like fire ...this unfortunate man (he) is deprived of all moral sense, his memory fails, and the mind's vision is darkened. Unmindful of God, he also forgets his own identity. This disease erodes the foundation of faith, saps the vitality of hope, dissolves the bond of love. It makes away with justice, demolishes fortitude, removes temperance, and blunts the edge of prudence. Shall I say more? *

In 1930, at the 7th Anglican Lambeth Conference, approval was given to married couples for the use of birth control in hard cases thus opening the door to the pollution of the marriage bed, and to contraception's handmaidens - sterilization and abortion. In light of Benedict XVI's recent comments in favor of condom use for male prostitutes engaged in sodomy, one may, I think, legitimately ask if Catholics are being prepared for a Lambeth-like attack on the Natural Law and Catholic morality - one which will open the door to sodomy and other homosexual acts which have always been condemned by the Church?

Gay Activists Support Kicanas for USCCB Head

Well, if anyone wanted confirmation that Bishop Kicanas is a bad choice for USCCB head they only have to look as far as the Rainbow Sash web page. You remember those folks. They're the ones who wear the rainbow sash to Mass to show their support for sodomy and gay marriage while demanding to receive Communion. Since homosexual activity is mortally sinful and those who wear the sash are publicly advocating mortal sin, receiving Communion while committing that scandal is a mortal sin of sacrilege. And a few bishops like Archbishop John Nienstedt have acted accordingly and refused them Communion.

The endorsement of the Rainbow Sash homosexuals should be the death knell for Bishop Kicanas' candidacy, but with so many homosexualist bishops in the U.S. perhaps it will enhance his chances. They certainly must think so.

It is appropriate for the only LGBT Catholic Organization in the United States active within the parishes of the Church, and visible about that activity to add its voice to the Bishops election process for its next President. We understand Bishop Kicanas understands that Bishops are privately changing their position because input is bubbling up from the pews of our parishes in support of such issues as Gay Marriage, and Pro Choice.

The not to distant past situation at Notre Dame was an attempt on the part of some fundamentalist Bishops to make a hard turn to the right in general, and the Tea Party in particular. The end goal was to turn Catholic support away from President Obama. Bishop Kicanas voice during this difficult situation called for moderation, and listening.

The fundamentalist Bishops have also turned their sights on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The program has donated $290 million to groups combating poverty during the last four decades, according to Rainbow Sash Movement News. But the program has also attracted fierce church critics who are suspicious of anything that sniffs of socialism. These fundamentalist Bishops have gone as far as to form “Reform the CCHD Now” whose primary goal is dismantling the organization, rather than reforming it. At least 10 fundamentalist bishops have stopped CCHD collections in their diocese so much for the needs of the poor.

Joe Murray the Executive Director of the Rainbow Sash Movement said “that while we have difficulties with Bishop Kicanas present position on Gay Marriage we are hopeful his position will evolve. We believe that Bishop Kicanas follows in the footsteps of the late Cardinal Joseph Bernadine, and will lead the USCCB to a position of common ground on issues that are deeply dividing the US Catholic Church. The impending election of Bishop Kicanas I believe is an attempt on the part of a majority of the Bishops to unravel a strangle hold that fundamentalism have on the US Conference of Catholic Bishops." Murray further stated, "Fundamentalist Bishops are trying to tag Bishop Kicanas as being very vulnerable in the area of clergy sexual abuse. I believe that to be a red herring. It may play to the fundamentalist such as Archbishop Chaput and Archbishop Dolan, it does not play well among more moderate and reasonable Catholics, and most of their Bishops. Following this logic could not the same claim be made of Cardinal Francis George current President of USCCB.

The Rainbow Sash Movement believes it is critical that Bishop Kicanas be elected to the Presidency of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to set the tone, and be a reasonable public voice and face for the country’s Catholic bishops. It is time to start rebuilding the Church.

Uganda Considering Death Penalty for Gays!

Uganda is considering a bill to make homosexual behavior a crime that could even result in imposition of the death penalty. While Christians oppose sodomy and same-sex acting out, executing those who engage in it is not the answer. The bill would even criminalize outreach ministries to gays with prison sentences for "aiders and abeters" of homosexual behavior.

All of us are sinners (except those who never reach the age of reason, whose only sin is the one inherited from Adam and Eve). Most of us have committed sins serious enough to deserve, not only physical death, but the spiritual death of eternal damnation. Why stop with homosexuals engaged in consensual sin? How about serial adulterers like Tiger Woods? And fornicators? You could empty out most dorms in the U.S. with that legislation. How about those who rob the taxpayers by diverting money to special interests? How many would be left on the floor of Congress? Then there are the abortionists, crime syndicates, and gangs perpetrating murder and mayhem. Who would be left at the end of the executions?

There are seven "deadly sins;" lust is only one of them.

Uganda and other countries in Africa are trying to protect the family and it's a laudable goal. It's one of the reasons the U.S. had anti-sodomy laws until they were overturned by the 6-3 2003 Lawrence vs. Texas Supreme Court ruling. Law is supposed to protect the common good and anti-sodomy laws are legitimate. At the very least they prevent homosexuals from recruiting the young which is one of Uganda's goals. (Isn't it interesting that most sinners like Tiger Woods are in the closet. Wouldn't it be nice if the homosexuals had stayed there instead of demonizing as homophobes everyone who deplores their behavior?)

The Ugandan legislator who introduced the bill, David Bahati, welcomes "constructive criticism" to improve the law, but thinks serious action is necessary to prevent homosexuals from "recruiting" the young. In view of the experience here in the U.S. with active recruitment efforts beginning in kindergarten it's easy to understand the concern of Africans over negative "western influence."

According to the Associated Press:

The Ugandan legislation in its current form would mandate a death sentence for active homosexuals living with HIV or in cases of same-sex rape. "Serial offenders" also could face capital punishment, but the legislation does not define the term. Anyone convicted of a homosexual act faces life imprisonment.

Anyone who "aids, abets, counsels or procures another to engage of acts of homosexuality" faces seven years in prison if convicted. Landlords who rent rooms or homes to homosexuals also could get seven years and anyone with "religious, political, economic or social authority" who fails to report anyone violating the act faces three years.

Let's pray that Uganda alters their law to eliminate capital punishment for homosexuals, but criminalizing attempts to spread it to the young sounds like common sense to me. Sodomy pushers are at least as dangerous as drug pushers.

Sodomy and Theology of the Body: The Death of Common Sense

Today is the feast of St. Charles Lwanga and Companions, the martyrs of Uganda. These 22 young men lived and died near the end of the 19th century during the reign of King Mwanga. He was a pederast who demanded that the young men of the court engage in lustful relations with him. They refused and were put to death either by being burned at the stake or beheaded. What saints for our immoral age when in-your-face homosexual lust has taken to the streets and hotel ballrooms of our country! And what was the primary sin St. Charles and his companions condemned? Sodomy.

Please, somebody explain how sodomy can be considered acceptable foreplay in a loving, Catholic marriage or any marriage for that matter. It defies common sense! If anything goes in foreplay, what's the problem with using pornography or sex toys or with tying your spouse to the bedpost?

In my two year study on John Paul II’s Theology of the Body which ran as a 7-part series in Catholic Family News (May-November 2008) and is now available online at www.newengelpublishing.com, I tackle the issue of the morality of anal penetration by married couple as a form of foreplay as explained by Christopher West.

In Chapter Five of his book Good News About Sex & Marriage – Answers to Your Honest Questions About Catholic Teachings (First Edition), in response to a question on the morality of anal sex for married couples, West states “There’s nothing inherently wrong with anal penetration as foreplay to normal intercourse.” This is a false teaching and a serious moral error.

Based on my 17 years of research for The Rite of Sodomy – Homosexuality and the Roman Catholic Church, which included a study of all of the Church Fathers, including Saint Peter Damian and Saint Bernardino of Siena, on the vice of sodomy, I can categorically state that the Catholic Church has always defined sodomy to include anal penetration, with or without ejaculation.

The act of sodomy, whether carried by homosexuals or by spouses, is intrinsically evil and a perversion. A married couple who engages in anal penetration and then goes on to normal coitus has engaged in two separate acts - the first, sodomy, is a grave sin, whether or not ejaculation has occurred. Further, the physiology of anal copulation is such that it would be most difficult to prevent ejaculation.

In West’s revised edition of Good News About Sex & Marriage, this grave moral error was not corrected. After pointing out that anal penetration is unsanitary and unaesthetic, West asserts:

Perhaps in some abstract, objective sense, there is nothing to condemn mere penetration of the anus as absolutely and in every case immoral. But subjectively speaking… it is very difficult to justify anal penetration as a loving act of foreplay to the marital embrace. It is an act that seems to stem much more from the disorder of lust than from a genuine desire to symbolize and renew the marriage commitment.

Now, alas, we have Janet Smith, claiming that:

Certainly there isn’t any “Church teaching” about this action at a magisterial level, but few seem to know that there is a tradition of approval of such behavior as foreplay to intercourse (not to be confused with the biblical condemnation of sodomy which replaces intercourse) by orthodox Catholic ethicists. The principle generally invoked is that consensual actions that culminate in intercourse are morally permissible…. Perhaps it is time for ethicists to work on the question…

What madness is this?

Where, pray tell, is the Catholic tradition that approves of anal penetration as a forerunner to coitus to be found?

What question is there for ethicists to work on?

Isn’t 2000 years of Church teachings on the immorality of sodomy good enough for West or Smith?

Do West and Smith have to be reminded that not all married couples have normal sexual desires? Indeed some are drawn into sinful acts as a prelude to intercourse including sadomasochist acts, the viewing of pornography to stimulate sexual excitement, and sodomy.

Isn’t it time that TOB advocates like Christopher West and Janet Smith be held accountable for their erroneous and dangerous pronouncements on Catholic sexual morality and conjugal love?

Boys will be boys?

The sado-masochists of the gay community are upset with Americans for Truth for publicizing their "pig sex orgy," an inaugural-associated event scheduled at the Doubletree Hotel in Washington, D.C. for earlier this week. The last time we saw this kind of depravity was during the Clinton inaugural. Fortunately exposure led to cancellation and the staff and normal visitors to the Doubletree (including children) will be spared the health risks associated with public sodomy in a hotel ballroom. (How would you like to be on the cleanup crew?) Anybody who believes the propaganda that gay "love" is no different than marital love between a husband and wife needs a reality check.

Examine the Weimer Republic before Hitler's rise with cabarets serving every perverted sexual desire, or the sexual libertinism leading up to the French revolution, or Henry VIII's adulteries and sexual excesses that threw England into an orgy of violence against Catholics. The misuse of God's gift of human sexuality for lust and perversion leads to violence and murder. It's a fact of history. Heterosexual lust in this country has bathed our country in the blood of millions of dead babies since 1973. What will normalizing sodomy and perversion bring us? More violence.

Sodomy is not a Civil Right; Defending Traditional Marriage is not Hate

Marriage is both a civil and religious issue. All civilizations have protected marriage between a man and a woman. Why? Because it's the safest and healthiest place to raise the next generation upon which survival of the culture depends. The traditional nuclear family is the basic building block of society. The breakdown of the family through divorce and cohabitation has already taken a serious toll on the culture. Just ask teachers in the classroom. When I taught fourth grade, about a third of my students came from dysfunctional homes and the impact on the classroom was serious. It's hard to learn when you are angry that Dad abandoned you and Mom is shacking up with a boyfriend. How is redefining civil marriage to be whatever one says it is going to help? Caligula married his sister; polygamy was common in many pagan cultures. Once you redefine marriage, what possible limit can you put on it? Is the solution to the breakdown of the family to shoot another arrow into its weakly-beating heart? What insanity!

The fight over homosexual marriage will continue as those who want to see the United States survive as "one nation under God" fight for the truth. Same sex couples began to "marry" in Connecticut a few days ago and in California gays attacked the Mormon Church for its support of Proposition 8. The homosexual propaganda machine says marriage is a civil right and cannot be denied to same sex couples. Nonsense! In other words, they equate their right to bugger one another and engage in mutual masturbation with marital intercourse, the unitive and procreative love of husband and wife for the good of each other, children of the union, and society. Homosexuals also equate defending traditional marriage with supporting slavery and segregation. Then they attack their critics as hatemongers who want to murder gays, a strategy called "jamming." It's a brilliant maneuver if they can pull it off, and they may. I have yet to see a reporter challenge their claim to marriage as a civil right. And sadly, there may be enough dumbbells in America to swallow the camel.

There is no civil right for gays to marry. Homosexuals can't be mothers and lesbians can't be fathers because they don't have the right body parts. Same-sex couples can't "marry" because the nature of marriage requires two bodies that fit together for the procreation of children which is a societal good. As for love, homosexuals haven't got a clue about it. Love wills the good of the other. Read the obituaries in gay newspapers and take a look at the perverted behavior at the Folsom Street Fair and other obscene gay pride parades. AIDS didn't come from nowhere, but from filthy practices that threaten your life. Lust and perversion are not love. No civilization, even the most depraved, has ever recognized homosexual sodomy as "marriage." But plenty of cultures have collapsed because they embraced sexual immorality and the murder of the innocent. The culture of death has a stranglehold on America and the barbarians are within the city destroying her foundations. Is it too late to save our beloved country? No, but it will take a miracle of grace. Pray the rosary and ask Our Lady of America to raise up young people to evangelize for purity and restore our country to sanity.
