Hurricane Harvey makes landfall near Corpus Christi. |
God sometimes uses big events to get our attention and the storm in Houston is a big event. Keep in mind that in 2010 Houston built the biggest abortion mill in the world outside of China right smack dab in the middle of four minority neighborhoods. Here's what Catholic Exchange wrote at the time:
Three of these neighborhoods have an average 85% Hispanic population and the fourth is 80% Black American. The third floor is being specially built as an ambulatory surgical center for the purpose of performing late-term abortions. Obviously, Planned Parenthood is targeting these minority communities and families to fuel their abortion industry like never before.Houston also elected one of the first openly gay mayors in the country -- three times! Annise Parker, who served from 2010 to 2016, "married" her partner in 2014 during her term as mayor. The current mayor, Sylvester Turner, is also a big proponent of LGBTQ rights.
Houston's tragedy is, indeed, a call to penance. The courageous reactions of many in the area reminds us of the goodness of the American people and their ability to immediately respond to "love their neighbors." But Houston also calls to mind that our national sins, like those of Nineveh, cry out to heaven for vengeance. The murder of the innocent and sexual perversion are biggies, but what may be even worse is indifference to their glorification. And who is most guilty? Catholics. When Catholics, blessed among all the people of the world with the Body and Blood of Christ, approve of or are silent about these abominations, we sow the whirlwind. It is time to put on sackcloth and ashes like the people of Nineveh and repent. Let us pray for Houston and recognize its invitation to all of us to put on penance and beg for God's mercy. May we not flee in fear like Jonah, but embrace God's call to conversion.
Have mercy on us, O Lord. For we have sinned against you. Show us, O Lord, your mercy. And grant us your salvation.
Mary Ann:
ReplyDeleteInteresting observation. I pretty much grew up in Houston. The huge abortuary there was at one time a bank building, and is clearly visible from Interstate 45.
Like you mentioned, this Planned Barrenhood clinic is strategically placed. Not only is it on close proximity to minority neighborhoods, there are at least four universities within a 15 mile radius, as well as three law schools and two medical schools.
There are several female lawyers and doctors who have had abortions (probably higher percentages 20 to 40 years ago) while in professional school, and quite a few are saying today"I regret my abortion."
I worked with that bank many times! When P.O. took over, the black glass facade became such an ominous sight.
DeleteWhen I first saw the Houston building I thought it looked like a giant cash register. Appropriate in view of Planned Parenthood's love of money. They worship the almighty dollar.
ReplyDeleteHouston was at one time the fastest growing local economy in the US with oil industries, space exploration, industrial tools, computers, robotics, agricultural ... We were a different country then, before we turned from economies of service and production into economies of speculation selling the same product under different shapes over and over to the unsuspecting consumer. That in time gave way to the indiscriminate extermination of children in the womb and outside the womb. I lived in Humble (near Houston International Airport later dubbed Bush) and I went through hurricane Alicia there back in the 80's. It was a harrowing experience with tornadoes missing my home for just a few yards (we clean lost the roof and the Exxon service station nearby simply disappeared). CONCLUSION: America has to decide if she wants to be Gomorrah or Jerusalem. The years to come will bring more and more punishment. I don't enjoy saying this but this is what happens when millions of babies are aborted, millions of illegal immigrants are exploited, and millions of young lives are sacrificed to the "business" of drug addiction while most of the population is led into various forms of sexual degeneracy. God was patient. Now, God is good and He is a benefactor. A nice admission of guilt and effective repentance WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. God is NOT eager to punish and he only does it when we are in danger of losing our souls. Think about it. The theme of the storm has been repeating please see these articles below. Forgive my shameless self promotion... There is a PATTERN to this that is not hard to discern.

Recently also I presented a book where basically I advance this simple idea: What happened to the Aztec Empire in the years before the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Tepeyac Hill is a scale model of what is going to happen to the global culture of death.

Thanks for the fascinating information, Carlos. It's hard to shrug off the signs of the times and the warning they are giving us.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Mary Ann. Time to reflect, repent, do penance.
ReplyDeleteI forgot one article. https://casorosendi.wordpress.com/2017/08/22/the-eclipse-a-catholic-view/
Texas is also a huge hub for human trafficking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_trafficking_in_Texas
ReplyDeleteHow about this fact? The eclipse has always been a precursor of doom and gloom. Houston's visibility of the eclipse was 66.6%! Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteThe blood of these aborted babies
ReplyDeletecries out to heaven!!!!
Whose lives were snuffed out
by devils in disguise before
it even start...
Whose dripping blood that
drenched this darkened
world incurs the
WRATH OF A RIGHTEOUS GOD!!!
A brother Priest recently published a series of talks at a Carmel on Our Lady of Revelation (an Italian apparition in Rome), on Sensus Fidelium, a YouTube channel. In it he mentioned that the Flood did not come, in the time of Noah, until man started same sex and even bestial marriages.
ReplyDeleteThere will be many worse things that will happen in this world, until the rights of God are observed. Mankind must repent. For us, stay in a state of grace.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your article on Houston. It was most interesting to me since I had just written and sent an email with reference to Nineveh:
“Secretary Rex Tillerson,
This nation as a whole needs to understand what happened at Charlottesville and why! Firstly, it was a clandestine operation planned well in advance. Secondly "professional" anarchists were employed by both factions. There were numerous participants who were legitimate protestors who were swept up by a "cause". They were victims of a plot to bring about division among the citizens of the Republic. Such groups as KKK and Antifac were doing the bidding of their common Masters. The protest was the product of those elites wishing to destroy the republic and establish a socialist state in a world community as prescribed in Agenda 2030. DONALD TRUMP was correct in his assessment. He could have said a lot more, and is to be recognized and applauded for the courage he possesses. His goal to drain the swamp has majority support among the people, but not among the Obama leftovers, and it appears so even among some of those selected for his team. The Globalists and their cronies may eventually overpower him, but in the end chastisement from Heaven will be upon the nation. GOD will hold back his hand only so long where morality is no longer the standard. Consider the case of Sodom & Gomorrah versus that of Nineveh who followed Jonah's request for a return to decency. My prayers are that our course as a nation can be corrected as well as that of the world.
Jim
