We finished our usual Sunday brunch today with the Epiphany house blessing.
Did you know that the letters C, M, B which stand for the names of the wise men (Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar) also stand for a Latin phrase? Christus Mansionem Benedicat means May Christ bless this house. For more about the Epiphany tradition go here.
What a great tradition to begin a new Anno Domini. Bianca who loves to help washed off last year's chalk and helped me write the new year marks on the inside of the door. Here little brothers and older sister helped sprinkle holy water on the door, the front porch and the steps leading up to the porch. We want God to bless our coming in and our going out.
Have a blessed Sunday and a new year filled with all the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to your children! We used to have them take seven beans and recite: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear of the Lord. I wasn't so good about getting them to memorize the fruits, but all of us should know them since they are among God's greatest gifts.
