I was thinking about going to see my sister for a few days. Frederick, MD is halfway on the two hour journey to her home. We've met in Frederick before and walked the Cross Creek path which is lovely and level. So I was looking at restaurants in the area where we might stop after hiking and before going back to her place.

Monday Morning Meandering: "Climate Change" and other Stuff

• False prophets on the left keep blathering: Just thinking....we should all be dead by now. Paul Ehrlich, the bug scientist who predicted in the 1960s that overpopulation would kill us all by starvation is still spouting nonsense and people are still dumb enough to give him a platform including the Vatican. And then there's Al Gore whose silly movie, An Inconvenient Truth, claimed Miami and Manhattan would be underwater by now. Of course, they aren't, but that hasn't kept him from continuing to impersonate Chicken Little with a stupid sequel that is filled with errors and junk science. Just go home, Al, and take Paul with you! Let's listen to a real climate scientist, Roy Spencer.

Last week two of these signs on wires appeared on the lawns of two of my neighbors.  We live in a small cluster of homes which are very close together in the planned community of Reston, VA.  It is our hope that the signs will disappear quickly, since from my own interpretation of the "Design Guidelines' of Reston Association, such signs are not allowed.  However, when you consider that "planned communities" such as Reston have a smell of socialism about them to start with,

The Dark Side of the Moon, by Anonymous is a book about the terrible events that occurred when Russia took over Poland and exported to slave labor camps all those people who had ever had anything to do with national Polish loyalty.  It is maybe one of the saddest books I've ever read.  

General Sikorski Monument

Polish general and beloved hero, Wladyslaw Sikorski collected these accounts with the desire to preserve them and share them with the world which needed to know what went on so far away it might as well have been the other side of the moon, shut off from world press and beyond anyone's imagination.  The general died in a mysterious plane crash the soviet pilot managed somehow to survive.  His widow later published  the information he had collected, but did not take any credit, leaving the authorship unknown.

We hear a lot about tolerance today: tolerance for homosexuals and lesbians pretending to be married and playing house, tolerance for couples who fornicate freely and kill their babies, tolerance for every kind of sexual deviancy, tolerance for those who shove their sins in our faces and demand we approve them, etc. But there's one group that cannot be tolerated and must be shamed into changing their beliefs or gagged into utter silence:

Or A&E who won't allow a politically incorrect viewpoint? I've only seen Duck Dynasty a few times but the family's unapologetic declaration of their Christian views is refreshing. And their humble discussion of their conversion is inspiring. So I'm standing with Phil! How about you?

The Vortex: A Clear Explanation of What's Wrong with the BSA "Gay" Policy

Michael Voris is totally on target again! There is no way the BSA can be "neutral" on the gay question now that they have welcomed openly gay scouts into the fold. By so doing they have made it clear that those with same-sex attraction are no different than those whose attractions are ordered by the natural law. That is a lie and all the young men will be learning it either directly if the issue comes up during a meeting or indirectly. If any scout dares to say that gay activity is wrong, he will be seen as bullying.

Silence can be a sin of omission. Children will be learning that, in the face of evil, silence is good and "tolerance" is better. But "tolerance" is not a Christian virtue. More often, it leads to tolerance of evil. Look at our "tolerance" of abortion. How many millions of babies have died under that wicked banner! Send tolerance back to hell where it came from.

The real Christian virtue is hospitality which requires us to be kind, even to our enemies. In fact, the word hospitality has a connotation of a relationship with an enemy. Hospitality and hostile have the same root. Interesting isn't it? Chesterton gets into that very issue in The Ball and the Cross and a popular Chestertonian aphorism is "Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions." The next time someone calls you "intolerant" tell him he's absolutely right and then quote Chesterton to him. Some things are worth fighting over.
