Virginia elected the most evil slate in our history last November. Abigail Spanberger represents the farthest of the far left favoring abortion up to birth, enabling transgender "girls" the opportunity to rape and injure our daughters and granddaughters by allowing them in girls' bathrooms and locker rooms and to compete against them in sports, etc. You name a liberal cause, no matter how evil, and Spanberger supports it. Her Lieutenant governor is just as bad and Jay Jones, the Attorney General fantasizes about murdering his opponent and celebrating the death of his children. What a trio! And what does their election say about Virginia voters? Read the Old Testament about the infidelity of the Israelites and the condemnation of Yahweh. It's not a pretty picture.

I'm a fan of Victor Davis Hanson, although I don't always agree with him. In this video, we parted company when he began talking about the Civil War, but that's a topic for another post. On the whole, I find him a trustworthy historian with clear insight. If you want to understand the future, you need to understand the past. But, like Big Brother in 1984, the servants of deceit are destroying and rewriting the past. When they tear down statues of the Founding Fathers and deface and burn historic buildings, you know they hate our heritage. What they want to erect in their place is a utopia of evil.

There's a popular story, which may be apocryphal, about Abraham Lincoln meeting Harriet Beecher Stowe, the Connecticut-born writer and abolitionist who wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin. Lincoln supposedly greeted her saying, "so you are the little woman who wrote the book that started this great war." Whether or not the story is true, the book did, in fact, influence northern attitudes toward slavery which, at least in part, contributed to the conflict.

Today we fight another great war, and, once again, slavery plays its part. Alan Keyes, in an eloquent piece on LifeSiteNews writes:

I'm reading the April issue of Chronicles. The major articles focus on Appomattox because April 9th was the 150th anniversary of Lee's surrender there. Editor Thomas Fleming makes this sobering point  about the outcome in his commentary, Why They Fought:

The family pays land use fees to the county, but the Bureau of Land Management says they owe over a million dollars to the feds. Hey, if they want the land it's their land!

Can anyone explain to me how the feds have the right to just scoop of state lands all over the country and declare it federalized? If the EPA sees a puddle on your property they can declare it a wetland. Should Obama Be Able to Kill American Citizens....

...on his own authority and without due process. Eric Holder says he has the authority. But if a president can target an American citizen for death, and send a drone to kill him, why can't he send officers to arrest him? Our Constitution demands due process? No president has the right to kill citizens without trial. This is tyranny plain and simple and it bodes ill for the future if Congress does nothing to stop it.

We've already seen Americans murdered on our soil when the Clinton administration committed atrocities at Ruby Ridge and Waco. Enough is enough!

I Can't Get the Hunger Games Out of my Head

Ever since I saw The Hunger Games last week the movie keeps keeps intruding on my thoughts. No matter what I'm doing the tap-tap-tap on my memory chips continues. So maybe if I write about it, I can move on to other things. Spoiler alert - read at your own risk.

First of all, I had no plans to see the movie. The premise sounded too violent and I hate gory films. (I've never been able to watch Braveheart a second time because of the scene where Wallace's bride has her throat slit). We were actually going to see The Avengers (sold out) which is a little hilarious in retrospect. My sister said it was funny but my brother and sister-in-law told me later it is nonstop violence. My sister-in-law left mid movie.

But I digress. The Hunger Games is frightening - not so much because of the characters stalking and killing each other (mostly non-graphically), but because the movie so accurately depicts America here and now.

If you aren't frightened by the totalitarian moves of President Obama, you must be ignorant of history. This man believes he is an emperor with no limits on his right to exert his will on the American people. That Congress is allowing him to do this with nary a peep reflects the moral cowardice of our political elite. As long as their sinecures are protected they go along with creeping tyranny.
