I'm not particularly afraid of the coronavirus despite the fact that I'm high risk. I'll be 73 next week, I have an autoimmune disease, and I'm blood type A which has been shown to be more susceptible to the virus.
My husband and I are exercising prudence with frequent hand washing, cleaning surfaces, avoiding unnecessary exposure to large groups, etc. But panic is not an option. What good does that do? Good grief, I lived through the cold war with bombing raid practice in school and I survived the polio epidemic, measles, mumps, etc. I don't believe this is Armageddon. Although I do believe it's part of the chastisement.
As for those panic-stricken folks emptying the shelves of supermarkets, well...I just shake my head. I'm buying less and using this as an opportunity to empty my freezer and my pantry. I'll leave the Doritos and ice cream for others. After all, it's Lent. I refuse to act like shoppers on Black Friday fighting over....a package of toilet paper.
But one thing does scare the daylights out of me! The tyranny of government officials who are using this as an opportunity to flex their muscles. Some of the brown shirts are essentially putting their citizens under house arrest for the crime of possibly becoming a carrier and spreader of the coronavirus.

Alfie's dad continues to fight for his son giving us an example of a manly father's love for his child. Before the ventilator was turned off he made this statement reported by LifeSiteNews:
He said that if the hospital’s actions result in the death of his son, he will sue everyone involved for "murder."
“But if my son dies now, I will instruct lawyers to start private prosecution of every single person who helps to make that happen,” he said.
Just think of it -- the same government that gave us Benghazi and Fast and Furious being in charge of policing every little community in this country. (I'm pausing here for that to sink in.)
If you want to see what federal cops look like read 1984 or Fahrenheit 451. What we don't need is Big Brother controlling every tiny community in this country. We already have too much federal intervention - even the control of thoughts and beliefs. The rule of subsidiarity has almost disappeared!
Now, if you're Catholic you probably know about the rule of subsidiarity and how important it is. Fr. John Hardon defines it this way:

The children being trekked from Central America across Mexico are in danger. Some are dying in the process. Young girls (even as young as three and six) are being raped. Children's bodies have washed up along the Rio Grande.

Anybody wonder how things happened the way they did in Nazi Germany? People just following orders. Read this article and the statement of the ranger dragged into Nevada from out of state to persecute Clive Bundy and his family for daring to graze their cattle on public land, a practice in their family since the 1880s. The family pays land use fees to the county, but the Bureau of Land Management says they owe over a million dollars to the feds. Hey, if they want the land it's their land!
Can anyone explain to me how the feds have the right to just scoop of state lands all over the country and declare it federalized? If the EPA sees a puddle on your property they can declare it a wetland. If a snail darter is found in your pond or a kangaroo rat in your field, you can lose any right to use your property as you wish. If the government decides

Where do you think DHS plans to use these armored vehicles? New York City? Chicago? L.A.? Your home town? It's pretty clear, the government is preparing for civil unrest. You almost get the sense they are looking forward to it! They have contracted for 1.6 BILLION rounds of ammo in the next few years. Is it plausible that all those rounds are needed for target practice? And what do you think of those "targets" in my previous post? I'm a pacifist by nature and I trust in God not guns, but anyone with eyes can see that the most dangerous assault on the U.S. at present is from our own government. When talking too much about the Constitution makes you a suspected terrorist or asking police their authority for stopping you at a random check point or belonging to a "hate group - Christian identity," or "violent anti-abortion extremism" whatever that means, or using cash (all these categories are included in FBI flyers, more) it's pretty likely that almost any citizen can fit their definitions.
Whoa! Technology can be a great benefit, but it can also be used by tyrants to dissolve all your rights. As one of the reporters says, we are already in a police state, a "soft" police state. Much information is being gathered illegally not only by government, but also by private agencies. Using the "war on terror" and "national security" and unconstitutional provisions like the Patriot Act, the government is militarizing domestic law enforcement and appears to be preparing for citizen opposition with massive ammo buys and targets that show average citizens: pregnant women, children, the elderly, etc. The first way to fight is to pray, the second is to do the duties of your state in life, the third is to resist the unconstitutional attacks by government. Watch this for an eye-opening look at how close we are to tyranny.
Judge Andrew Napolitano, in an article in the Washington Post, gave a history lesson on the right to bear arms. It's not about hunting, it's about the right of citizens to defend themselves against tyrants. Can anyone doubt that our government has crossed the line into tyranny? When a sitting president gives himself the right to assassinate American citizens without trial or even judicial review, accountable to no one if he says the citizen is a "terrorist," what is left? (Even the New York Times took umbrage in an editorial.) As a pro-life activist, I might very well be on the government's list of "domestic terrorists" even though my biggest "crime" was being chained to an operating table in an abortion mill. So I am concerned about giving the right to any president to decide that some citizen he doesn't like is a terrorist deserving assassination. I am particularly concerned because liberals tend to think of, and often call, those who disagree with them terrorists and other names too vile to mention.

The historical reality of the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms is not that it protects the right to shoot deer. It protects the right to shoot tyrants, and it protects the right to shoot at them effectively, with the same instruments they would use upon us. Most people in government reject natural rights and personal sovereignty. Most people in government believe that the exercise of everyone’s rights is subject to the will of those in the government. If you really want to know who the biggest, richest, and greediest organization on the planet is, don't look for an oil company or a car manufacturer. Just look east to Washington, D.C. at the federal land grab. We hear all the time the government in a constitutional republic works for the people through their elected representatives. But it's pretty clear, under this administration particularly, that Uncle Sam is greedy and selfish and wants to put the unwashed masses in their place which is NOT on "federally owned" land. Check it out here. The Founders were opposed to federal government ownership of land and, in a number of acts, transferred federal land to private use. The Homestead Act, granted 160 acres free to anyone who would live on and develop the property for five years. The founders would be shocked at federal government policies today. Did you know that the federal government "owns" almost 30% of the land, most of it in the west. Almost 85% of Nevada is federally owned and controlled. It is one more abuse of state sovereignty that was sacrosanct when the first colonies joined in a confederation of states for their mutual benefit.
Don't tell me that we need to have FEDERAL protection from the greedy old states. Every state has a system of state parks for the enjoyment of the people. My husband and I mostly stayed at state parks last fall when we spent seven weeks going cross-country. The marshland in the photo was at Indiana Dunes State Park. We don't need the feds removing land from all human use. We have a lot more input at the state level. Subsidiarity is a principle of Catholic teaching. Responsibility should be exercised at the lowest level beginning with the family. The feds have become the tyrannical Big Brother of 1984. But government is SUPPOSED to work for us, remember?
Now why would a county bother people living out in the middle of nowhere, much less send armed teams out to harrass them? This reminds me of what happened to the people who lived in the mountains of Virginia when the government forcibly removed them to form the Shenandoah National Park. Don't get me wrong -- I love to go hiking in the park, but who gives the government to forcibly take people's property? This could happen to anyone. They begin by intimidating those with little support. But who's next? I suspect this is all about money as the video below suggests. It's almost always about greed. If this were you or your family, what would you do?

You see it today in the growing movement toward crisis precipitated by massive spending and the advancement of immorality. It is throwing our country into moral and economic chaos. Review the stages below and then watch the video. Can it be stopped? Absolutely, but only through a miracle of grace. Americans must wake up! Resolve to pray and fight with a rosary in one hand and the sword of truth in the other.
1) Demoralization: The process takes place over a generation as the young are brainwashed to the degree they can no longer make rational connections. I see that in discussions on Facebook with the young hving a knee-jerk reaction toward conservative principles and a mindless acceptance of homosexuality as "normal." Exposure to the truth doesn't matter as they spout the politically correct platitudes of the liberal culture. It illustrates Bezmenov's point that the individual will not believe the truth even when he is given proof. Destabalization is far advanced int he U.S. It is necessary to retrain a new generation to counter it. How many young people do you know who are totally brainwashed about "choice", homosexuality, the welfare state, global warming hysteria, etc.? No matter what you say to them or the scientific evidence they spout their personal "truth" saying, "That may be true for you, but not for me." Home schooling is the great countermeasure against cultural brainwashing in the public schools.
2) Destablization: Over the course of about five years essentials are attacked: the economy, foreign affairs, defense, etc. Marxist/Leninist ideas are promoted with government intruding into more and more areas. This is very advanced in the U.S. and the Obama administration has put destabalization on the front burner doubling the debt in his first year and removing all obstacles to immorality.
3) Crisis: Bring a country to crisis where the free market is destroyed, government takes over more and more elements of the society, etc. Leaders promise loads of cures to placate the populace as they put more controls in place. Haven't we seen this in spades since Obama was elected? Crisis in housing; government takeover. Economic crisis in auto and banking; government takeovers. Continuous hysteria over all kinds of things: global warming, the flu, etc. The leftists, including the intellectuals, participate in the destabalization, but are no longer needed once the process is in place. They think they will come to power and often become bitter enemies of the Marxist/Leninist society they help put in place when they are marginalized. They are often imprisoned or executed.
4) Normalization: Cynical expression for the takeover under tyranny. It's shown literally by the history of Soviet tanks moving into countries and dictators taking over. Sometime the country becomes a "benign dictatorship." Can it happen here? Study history!

Persecution of Christians for violating the "newspeak" laws of Big Brother is on the increase. In Canada, even a Catholic bishop was accused of hate speech for daring to speak the truths of the gospel.
And now, here's another example, a Christian street preacher being targeted by the thought police and hauled off to jail under the Public Order Act (POA) in the U.K. Keep in mind that this act was put on the books to protect against riots at soccer games, etc. Like RICO legislation in the U.S. that aimed to have a chilling effect on gangster activity but is commonly used against pro-lifers and those who oppose sodomy, POA is being used against U.K. Christians who dare to challenge the morality of same-sex relationships. Harry Hammond, a pensioner, was convicted under Section 5 of the Act in 2002 for holding up a sign saying “Stop immorality. Stop Homosexuality. Stop Lesbianism. Jesus is Lord” while preaching in Bournemouth.
Stephen Green, a Christian campaigner, was arrested and charged in 2006 for handing out religious leaflets at a Gay Pride festival in Cardiff. The case against him was later dropped.
Christians be prepared. Like the Apostles who were dragged into court for proclaiming Jesus, you will be dragged before the magistrates for daring to uphold the word of God. Hate speech is coming here in the U.S., one more assault against Christians. Prepare yourselves for active persecution through prayer and fasting.
Victoria Jackson may play the dumb blonde, but after watching a bunch of her tea party videos, I'm sold on this lady. This video, particularly, shows she is "dumb" like a fox. Her beautiful testimony to the unborn and her obvious religious underpinnings make her a courageous witness. She reminds me of Gracie Allen in her humor heyday playing the comedienne to George's cigar smoking straight man. Pray for Victoria Jackson as she goes around the country speaking the truth in her inimitable style.
Feldblum Appointment Underscores Threat of Homosexual Agenda to Liberty by Alan Sears
You hear it, in one form or another, every day. For all the fervent debates and spirited arguments and plain old yelling matches we are wont to get into on everything from politics to sports to religion, something deep in the soul of most Americans still holds to our quintessential conviction that “everyone’s entitled to his opinion.”
In our democratic republic, that’s about as democratic as it gets.
Which is why it’s so surprising, sometimes, to learn that not everyone believes this…and why it’s so dangerous when someone who doesn’t moves into a position of powerful government authority.
Consider, for instance, the case of Chai Feldblum, one of a number of President Obama’s recess appointments over the weekend. The President nominated her in September 2009 for a post on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which governs workplace issues across the country. Ms. Feldblum is on record as stating that “private beliefs” that do not affirm homosexual behavior should not be tolerated in American society.
Not public speech, mind you. Not overt, out-front demonstrations or protests or letters to the editor or call-ins to local radio shows. But “private beliefs” should not be tolerated.
In other words, people who don’t have “private beliefs” like Ms. Feldblum does about homosexual behavior should, under the right circumstances, be prosecuted to the limits of the law.
Attorney General of Virginia, Ken Cuccinelli, filed a lawsuit against the federal government for their unconstitutional mandate on citizens requiring them to purchase health insurance. Ken has also initiated a petition to generate support for his efforts to stop the mandate. Ken's message follows.

On Tuesday, March 23, 2010, President Obama signed into law a healthcare bill of historic proportions. That bill includes an individual mandate on Americans that declares that they must buy health insurance or face penalties. This overreaches the authority of Congress under the Commerce Clause and is therefore unconstitutional.
Buying health insurance can be said to be an act in commerce. However, if someone doesn’t buy insurance, they are by definition not engaging in commerce. This legislation greatly oversteps the Commerce Clause.
Please join in Virginia’s fight to overturn the individual mandate on health insurance. I ask that you indicate your support by signing the petition below. Please also forward this to your friends.

I thought it had to be an article in The Onion or an early April Fool's joke, but a little research verified it. There is actually a New York Assemblyman (Felix Ortiz of Brooklyn) who thinks his job is to institute the salt police in New York. His bill A10129 bans the use of salt in restaurant kitchens and imposes a fine of $1,000 for each violation. Add a shake of salt to the salad dressing and you violate the law! Off to the salt mines with you.
This solves the mystery of who was behind the creation of the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld. He had nothing on this lunatic assemblyman. Let's see: women can choose to kill their children, but a restaurant can't choose to sprinkle salt in the soup.
People have joked for years about the government making Big Macs and other fast food illegal. Ortiz is one government busybody who wants to do it. This gives new meaning to the expression, "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen."
Two other foolish assemblymen joined in the silly salt shaker shenanigans. Now let's see if an assembly committee will be dumb enough to report this bill out. It deserves a quick death and these three pols should be ridiculed and sent home in the next election.
