Fr. Tom Collins: Bishops provided a "safe environment" for sexual predators!

Msgr. Rossi, protege of Cardinal Wuerl
Editor's comment: I doubt if we've seen the end of the sex scandals. Msgr. Walter Rossi, rector of the Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, is likely to be among the next group of outed homosexuals keeping their boyfriends in comfort using the assets donated for the care of the Church. Check out the American Spectator here, here, and here.

Abuse of minors is horrendous, but pederasty isn't the only problem. Homosexual priests engaging in "age appropriate" sodomy often, like Bransfield, consider the assets of the Church their personal property and help themselves to the proceeds to fund their extravagant lifestyles. The next big scandal as the Bransfield financial raping of West Virginia indicates, will likely be all about money. Stay tuned and pray hard.

Will Huge Church Financial Scandals be Next?

In view of the on-going scandals in Wheeling with disgraced Bishop Michael Bransfield, one can expect the answer is a resounding YES. I was told years ago by a priest friend on the West Coast that a papal financial advisor privy to inside information was predicting the next huge scandal would be over the money. There is too much money and too little accountability. Rod Dreher recently weighed in on the Bransfield scandal here based on the Washington Post's expose. Here's a bit of his commentary:

Cardinal Wuerl: Liar Extraordinaire and his Enabler is the Pope Himself!

Don't worry, Donny, I got your back!
Below is an article by Pieter Vree, Editor of New Oxford Review about homosexual-enabling Cardinal Donald Wuerl. Here is one more prelate who belongs in jail as an accomplice of child abuse. But what about his enabler? We were told last November when the bishops were stymied by Pope Francis in their efforts to deal seriously with the clerical sex abuse scandal that they had to wait for the summit in February. And what did that faux hot meal produce? A huge nothingburger! Once again the victims were paraded to tell their gruesome stories, the bishops beat their breasts, ringmaster Cardinal Cupich did a slick song and dance routine drawing attention from the homosexual elephant in the ring, and the sideshow ended. The audience in the pew failed to applaud. And so things continue. Please, folks, stop enabling these clowns with your money. BOYCOTT THE BLA! There are so many worthy Catholic apostolates that deserve your support. Give to the Little Sisters of the Poor or the FSSP seminary or a local crisis pregnancy center or a Catholic free clinic. And pray and fast this Lent for the purification of Holy Mother Church, the battered Bride of Christ.

Remind Us Again Why We Should Believe Cardinal Wuerl Is a Champion for the Sexually Abused?

On the contrary, he was an enabler and covered up for abusers except when it was politically useful to take action against them.

Say NO! Loud and Clear to Cardinal Donald Wuerl's Participation in the Youth Event for the March for Life

Update: January 5, 2019. This video disappeared yesterday or the day before. I suspect Fr. Goring was instructed to take it down and complied out of obedience, although I haven't seen any statement from him. It's important for us to pray for this courageous young priest. We've seen what the corrupt bishops do to those who stand up boldly for the truth. Fr. Goring needs to be surrounded with prayer. Our Lady, Queen of the Clergy, pray for him and for your poor flock of battered sheep.

Below, find a list of those who need to hear about the necessity to remove Cardinal Wuerl from public ministry, particularly as a voice to youth.

Homosexual Clergy Scandal and Money Scandals Go Together like Bread and Butter!

Bread and butter and circuses for everyone!
And Pope Francis wields the butter knife!

Is the Purification of Holy Mother Church really on his agenda? The signs aren't good, that's for sure, and Cardinal Wuerl's treatment this week sends up a whole pole of red flags.

Yes, Pope Francis accepted Wuerl's resignation. He's also, inexplicably, made him apostolic administrator for D.C. until a replacement is selected and is praising him to the skies.

How do you think the unhappy flock of the Archdiocese feel about that? I don't know what you think; it sure smells rotten to me. But I can't say I'm too surprised. It fits with everything we've seen from the Francis papacy. Check out these articles.

What Do We Want to Know, Cardinal Wuerl? The Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth!

Don't miss my show at the comedy club tonight!
Cardinal Wuerl could be a stand up comic, albeit a closeted one. The title of his soon Not-to-be-published book, What Do You Want to Know? A Pastor's Response to the Most Challenging Questions about the Catholic Faith, sounds like a joke in view of the Grand Jury report. Was the cardinal laughing up his sleeve when he titled it?

The fact is, Cardinal Wuerl has been a cover-up meister for years doing all he could to keep the coverup lid on evil and the duct tape over the mouths of his brother bishops who might be tempted to speak up and boldly condemn intrinsic evils. How embarrassing!

Did you know that in 2005, just a few short years after Dallas, Wuerl planned to introduce a Mechanism of Review via the USCCB. It wasn't, of course, a review of the bishops and their on-going efforts to hide their involvement in the sex abuse crisis.

#Wuerl'sGottaGo! Predator Priests Thrived in Pittsburgh and Wuerl was an Enabler for Almost 20 Years!

Who me? Cover up sex abuse? I moved the
predators around to protect the children!
#CATHOLICMETOO: WILL CDL. WUERL BE THE NEXT ONE TO FALL?

Excerpts from this sordid story:
"According to reports, at least 90 priests in Pittsburgh alone are implicated in the findings. And — a fact largely unknown to the public — Wuerl was named in multiple lawsuits during his tenure there, accused of conspiring to cover up sex abuse. Though often portrayed as a bishop tough on sex abuse and years ahead of his time in implementing 'zero tolerance,' Wuerl's actual history tells a different story."

Who is Cardinal Wuerl Talking To?

Cardinal Wuerl laughing it up with the pretty people!

Wuerl says only ‘very few’ are unhappy with Pope Francis

I confess I laughed when I read the interview. Let's face it. To whom do you think Cardinal Wuerl speaks? Do you think he's spending a lot of time outside his chancery speaking to the ordinary people of the diocese or is his contact with them from the window of his lavish apartment on embassy row? (Oh look, somebody dressed in jeans and a t-shirt is going into the church to make a visit!) Here's a bit from the interview with my comments in red.

The Vortex and One of My Favorite Bishops -- Rene Gracida...

...and one of my "least favorites," Cardinal Donald Wuerl.

Right on, Michael!  And for those who want to hear straight talk from Bishop Gracida including naming names of Catholic clergy who helped institutionalize the culture of death, watch this video on the "Virus of Proportionalism."

Superman (er...Bill Donohue) Coming to Cardinal Wuerl's Rescue!

Bill Donohue has come out swinging at those criticizing Cardinal Wuerl and his $43 Million penthouse on Embassy Row. (See here.) In his article Donohue attacks George Neumayr who called Wuerl our own "bishop of bling" and says this about Christine Niles of ChurchMilitantTV:
Christine Niles...says "today’s archbishop of Washington owns a penthouse in a complex valued at $43 million." That is a lie. He owns not a centimeter of his third-floor "penthouse," an apartment that sits atop Our Lady Queen of the Americas parish. Like bishops all over the world, he resides in a spot that was specifically designed for the local Ordinary. There is nothing scandalous about this Church patrimony.

Cardinal Wuerl: Comedian or Hypocrite?

I was just reading an article describing how Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, D.C. called an unnamed bishop a dissenter (pretty clearly directed at Cardinal Burke's recent interview when he said he would resist the pope if he attempted to change doctrine on Communion for the divorced and remarried). You can read Cardinal Wuerl's blog post here and the article about his post here. Here's the salient sentence from Wuerl's blog:
They (dissenting bishops) disagree with the Pope because he does not agree with them and therefore follow their position.
What a bunch of hooey! First of all, in the article Wuerl was talking about rejecting teachings in papal encyclicals which are not, by the way, necessarily infallible except to the degree they uphold the unchangeable doctrine of the Church. Cardinal Burke has not dissented at all. he has pointed out over and over that no one has the ability to change Christ's teachings, not even the pope. He has begged for clarity from the pope in the face of the confusion sown at the Extraordinary Synod on the Family where Cardinal Wuerl was among the smoke-blowers.

As for dissenters, the LifeSiteNews article emphasizes Wuerl's own dissent from Vatican instructions, i.e., his refusal to implement Canon Law 915 which is unequivocal in its demand to deny communion to those in persistent grave manifest public sin. And yet Wuerl happily subjects Jesus Christ to sacrilege because doing what Church Law says isn't his "style."

Cardinal Wuerl spins a web in his blog post with lots of nice words. He even implies that he supports encyclicals like Humanae Vitae, but his priests better never preach on that or same sex marriage. A priest friend of mine got the "tone-it-down" call from the chancery after one brave bulletin letter about same sex marriage. Wuerl is the spider at the center of a web of hypocrisy. And if anyone is a dissenter it's himself. He punishes good priests like Fr. Marcel Guarnizo and embraces heretics like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden.

Pray for him. With bishops like this in powerful positions, it's not hard to figure out why the Church is in such a mess! He has been an ambitious man since ordination and his "style" has helped to elevate him in the eyes of the world. Whether that corresponds to his status in God's eyes is another matter. For a history of his rise to the top read this article.

Vatican Shakeup: Levada and Wuerl Named to Bishops' Board

...Cardinal Burke off.

Hmm....what does it mean?

Cardinal Burke retains his many posts at the Vatican, including head of the highest Vatican court so he definitely hasn't been packed off to Mongolia as some fear...at least not yet.

But how should a faithful Catholic take the news that Cardinal Levada and Cardinal Wuerl will be vetting new U.S. bishops? What will that mean for the quality of men selected for the U.S. Church which has improved in recent years? Will it be back to the Bernardin era which saw the rise of the lavender mafia and the "Good-bye, Good Men" style of seminary gatekeepers?

Check out the news here and here. Thomas Peters is optimistic, the Badger Catholic not so much. As for me, I think I'll imitate Mary and ponder all these things in my heart. I think an extra hour of adoration this week is a good response.

Pray for Holy Mother Church.

The Scandal Continues: Biden and Pelosi Committed Sacrilege at Papal Mass

Well, the White House has confirmed it: Pelosi and Biden went to Communion sacrilegiously at the papal installation Mass. (Huffington Post article.) What I found especially hypocritical, however, was Cardinal Wuerl's statement:
Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, part of the conclave that elected Francis, has said he would offer Pelosi communion despite her views on abortion because he didn't believe communion should be used as a weapon. "We never -– the Church just didn't use Communion this way. It wasn't a part of the way we do things, and it wasn't a way we convinced Catholic politicians to appropriate the faith and live it and apply it; the challenge has always been to convince people," Wuerl said in a 2010 interview. His position would logically extend to Biden. The vice president's bishop, Francis Malooly of Wilmington, Del., has also said he would not deny communion to Biden.

I'm With George Neumayer

Cardinal Wuerl's Continuing Crisis

I expect somebody will take issue with the paragraph below, but I agree. Go, George!

It amazes me that a clericalist culture of toadying and flattery still exists in American Church circles, given the scandals into which the bishops have routinely plunged the faithful. I have no desire to participate in this worldly game of ring-kissing in which the Cardinal Wuerls wallow. They enjoy the trappings of their office without actually exercising it for the good of souls. They demand 13th-century obedience while behaving like 21st-century flakes who play church in costume and staff.
And Cardinal Wuerl has plenty of company. Clericalism needs to be trashed. A roman collar or a crook and mitre may be symbols of the bishop's authority, but that doesn't mean he's exercising it.

A bishop is only as good as his fidelity to the deposit of the faith. Bishops who advance homosexuality in the Church like Wuerl did in Pittsburgh need to be outed for their treachery. Bishops who fail to preach the truth about abortion and contraception need to be outed for their treachery.

The reason Catholics are fighting on so many fronts in the United States today is thanks to dereliction of duty on the part of so many bishops who have loved the world and toadied to the world's powerful. They need to remember where the "kingdom, the power, and the glory" really reside.

Cardinal Wuerl to give invocation at mayor's inauguration despite his support for gay marriage

Wouldn't Henry VIII love the bench of bishops in the United States -- at least those like Cardinal Wuerl who is scheduled to give the invocation at Vincent Gray's inauguration as mayor of D.C. Gray is a pro gay marriage Catholic who says he attends Mass regularly (and presumably receives Communion while he thumbs his nose at the Church) but that apparently doesn't give the cardinal a qualm.

I wish I could believe that he'll pray that the government of D.C. will stand up for traditional marriage, but the odds of that seem pretty slim. This is, after all, the man who turned a blind eye to Nancy Pelosi's coronation at Trinity College where the Mass was celebrated by the notorious pro-abortion Jesuit Fr. Robert Drinan.

The cardinal has also made it clear he has no problem giving Jesus to those receiving Communion sacrilegiously.

No, there's not much hope that Cardinal Wuerl will publicly offend the high and mighty by raining on the inaugural parade. It would be so outré and he might be banned from the elite D.C. society. Just think, what if he had no social options but slumming it with ordinary faithful Catholics in the pew?
