I got this on my Facebook Wall today. One of the comments was this (I've blocked the name of the college to protect the young woman involved.):
My daughter is at (a state college) and her professor opened the class yesterday with an anti Catholic rant after asking if there were any Catholics in the class (not meaning to offend, of course). A total set up. My daughter called me in tears. I talked her through it and told her she was brave for raising her hand and to offer the distress it caused her to God and to pray for these people. Thankfully she calmed down and went to Mass later. It's become fashionable to bash Christianity (especially Catholics) unless you're an LGBTQ Christian. Then you just pretend everything is ok and God doesn't care that you hold yourself in a state of mortal sin. They say ignorance is bliss, but you have an obligation to know, so use your head.

There must be some recourse here. Can you imagine if the teacher had mocked transgender students? Is there a college ombudsman? How about some pushback? Think of the impact Riley Gaines is having pushing back against trans swimmers. She's also taken a lot of hits. But things are beginning to turn at least a little bit. Smiling and saying a quiet prayer is a good reaction to persecution. You're never more on the cross with Jesus than when you're being stoned.
Riley Gaines is a great role model for young women being abused in college situations. Check out this video interview on Fox. She's pushing back and will give other female swimmers the courage to do the same.
Situations like this can be the training ground for Catholic warriors. I don't know what Riley's religious background or politics are, but she is standing for truth courageously despite being severely attacked. With struggle comes strength as I'm reminded by the logo on a gift T-shirt.
If this were my daughter I would advise her to change classes if possible. The teacher will discriminate in her classroom treatment and grading. That happened to one of my daughters at George Mason. To her credit, she went and challenged the teacher and her grade was changed.
I might suggest Thomas More Sociery or Alliance Defending Freedom. Do document to the hilt.

Sending your kids to a higher education is sending them to hell. Plain and simple. They are not prepared for the abuse and lies.

I heard in the late 1980's some conservatives were calling out colleges on what they are beginning to 'teach'. With all that has come out for the past few years about the 'progressive' (communist) professors, I have no sympathy for parents who put themselves in debt for their children having a degree. Yes, a degree in hating America and all that our country stands for and now also Christianity. People have to be aware of what is going around them! No more putting your head in the sand. Stop being stupid people!

ReplyDeleteMy alma mater is now 67K per year for room and board. The degree I got is about ten times better than the same degree today. That’s a subjective assessment, but it’s probably a conservative estimate. Makes my heart ache to see the place go woke.
ReplyDeleteMy young relatives at our state university had to, as Christians, argue "there is no God" to the class. They were subjected to horrific feminism, blatantly angry female professors who really tormented the male students. It was relentless.
ReplyDeleteI would not send my child to public school unless I knew 100% the position of the school on many things. Every parent or guardian needs to go meet their child's teachers, especially the homeroom teachers of their young children. Meet them in their classroom. Look at the desk and the walls, what mottos and imagery do you see? Teachers put up with speaks to them, what motivates them, and you can see where there heart is, right there on the desk and walls. Also, take a good look at the teacher. Weird haircut? Multicolor hair? Piercings? You already know what you have, and they have your child many hours per day. Get them out of there.
I also would never send my precious child to a college or university today unless it were a really Christian-oriented school. You can't even go by recommendations anymore, some of those are meaningless, many schools are so watered down in teaching it's hardly any better than public schools.
Look into technical careers. College degrees are a dime a dozen. Why send your kid away to get back a communist or a freak. Or both.
I’ve sent 5 kids to 3 different large state universities and never encountered this and my kids have degrees ranging from nursing to neuropsychology to mech engineering. The closest story I can even think of is when a professor talked about his Jewish and Catholic parents being so disappointed that he married a Methodist. My son thought that was a funny joke because my husband’s family were so upset when his sister married a Methodist. I don’t think higher education (at least in our Midwestern area) is leftist or anti-Catholic. Proud of our five with degrees and our one in the military equally.
ReplyDeleteI have 5 kids who attended UVA, George Mason, and James Madison (all VA state schools) and they all ran into it. I expect the midwest (mostly red states) hasn't experienced as much corruption, but it's happening in a lot of places -- even at Catholic colleges. There's a reason Fulton Sheen said, "Send your kids to secular colleges where they'll have to fight for the faith rather than Catholic colleges where the faith will be taken from them."
ReplyDeleteIt also happened at the high school level. My sister lost her faith at a Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Today she is a liberal, new age, pro-abortion, 12-step Buddhist. If you can imagine! I think it all started at Archbishop Keogh where my mom was fighting over teachers handing around contraceptives in the classroom. St. Francis de Sales called scandal "spiritual murder." He called letting scandal destroy your faith "spiritual suicide." Wise man!
