Six Year Old "Criminal" Gets Expelled: More Public School Goofiness!

This is what liberalism leads to: nuttiness. The "gun" sounds like the kind of water pistols we have in our pool for the kids to play with -- "clear plastic." What is in the mind of an adult to expell a six-year-old, ban her from school property, and threaten her with arrest if she dares to set a toe on school grounds even when her parents pick up their other children. Good grief! Can you imagine the hysteria if a child made a "look alike" gun out of his hand and aimed at the teacher? They'd probably wrestle the kid to the ground and put him in handcuffs! Two thumbs down to the South Carolina school district. If I were the teacher of that Kindergarten class, I would have taken the gun from the child and sent a note home to the parents explaining that they aren't allowed in school and asking them to pick it up. And that would be the end of it. Does no one have any common sense any more?

Black Helicopters May Be Coming to your Neighborhood!

Exactly why is the military running black helicopter drills in our neighborhoods?

Could it be they are getting ready for domestic rebellion against an increasingly draconian federal government? Will states passing laws against gun confiscation, for example, be invaded by the FEDS?

Liturgy of the Hours Increases Hope

For the past few weeks, I've been praying Morning and Evening Prayer from Liturgy of the Hours. I'm finding it gives me a big infusion of hope despite my pessimism for the future of the United States. Take today's Morning Prayer. The first psalm (87) reminds us that it's the Lord who builds the city and gives each of us our place in it. The psalm prayer harks back to Jesus weeping over Jerusalem,  "soon to be destroyed for its lack of faith." But Holy Mother Church doesn't leave us with that gloomy picture. She tells us, "He established the new Jerusalem firmly upon rock and made it the mother of the faithful" leading us to "rejoice in [our] Church."

The Canticle (Isaiah 40) shows us the power of God "who rules by his strong arm." He is no tyrant like so many worldly leaders, but a loving God. "Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; in his arms he gathers the lambs." We have nothing to fear because it's He "Who has cupped in his hand the waters of the sea...Who has held in a measure the dust of the earth....Behold, the nations count as a drop of the bucket, as rust on the scales; the coastlands weigh no more than powder." Yes those blue "coastlands" on our eastern and western shores and all the nations of the earth "are as nought, as nothing and void he accounts them."

So, let us never stop fighting the Culture of Death, but neither should we let the state of the world get us down. As Psalm 99 and its antiphon remind us today, "The Lord is king....He is throned on the cherubim; the earth quakes....He is holy, full of power."

And for the faithful who persevere, "The Lord, the mighty conqueror, will come; he will bring with him the prize of victory."

God will never abandon us and so, "Let us joyfully cry out in thanks to God the Father whose love guides and nourishes his people." Amen!

If you need an infusion of hope, pray the Liturgy of the Hours.

Blacks Doing Worse Under Obama...

...and that doesn't even take into account the genocide of black babies by abortion! Black women are FIVE TIMES MORE LIKELY TO ABORT than white women. Do black women really care less about their babies or are they being targeted by the Culture of Death? Is the economic depression of blacks a strategy to encourage them to kill their children? Is that why Planned Parenthood locates abortion mill in black centers?  Obama has done a good job of fooling blacks into thinking that he's their man while he works hard to make sure their biggest killer increases the body toll. Wake up, black citizens, and rebel against your exterminator!

What's Your Favorite Old Movie?

I'm reading bits and pieces from Frank Capra's autobiography, Frank Capra: The Name Above the Title. His movies have always fascinated me and I absolutely love a few of them. I think my favorite is Lady for a Day, a black and white picture about an apple peddlar in New York who's spent any money she's ever made (along with donations from her fellow "godparent" beggars) to send her illegitimate daughter to boarding school in Spain and keep her scandalous beginning secret.  Capra remade the film several decades later as Pennies from Heaven with Betty Davis and Ann Margaret, but the original was the real gem.

Capra had a Jimminy Cricket in his background, a hulking fighting Irishman named Myles Connolly who told him early on that he was the "best director in Hollywood" but wasted his efforts creating "picture postcards" when he could be making films like the "Sistine Chapel and the Mona Lisa." Here's how Capra describes one exchange between Connolly and himself:

Shocking Obama Scenario....Will Military Fire on Americans?

According to this video interview with Dr. James Garrow, Obama is creating a litmus test for military leaders. They must be willing to order troops to fire on Americans or be purged. In his second inaugural speech, Garrow says, Obama dropped all pretense of moderation in favor of collectivism"Now what you are seeing are the beginning signs of a despot. What he did in that speech is remarkable because he threw aside all the niceties and proclaimed very clearly that he was a progressive socialist....I think you no longer have a warning of what he could be, you now have full in-your-face a declaration of what he is."

Note the information about China in the video. The Obama administration is exchanging our debt for Chinese rights to American resources. Read about it here. Bush blocked it, Obama welcomes it. Why, when we import so much energy are we selling our resources to the Chinese? To keep Chinese money rolling in to fuel Obama's massive spending.

One other thing that makes this seem feasible is the massive ammo buy by government agencies. Back in March 2012, the Department of Homeland Security bought 450 MILLION rounds of .40 hollow point ammunition, a type of bullet banned for use in international warfare. Since then, they've stockpiled even more. Check it out. So what exactly does DHS plan to do with all this ammo and who will be the targets?

"You Have a Duty to Protect Yourself and Your Family"

This message is from Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee. Law-abiding citizens need to partner with the police to protect themselves and others. The function of the police department is primarily to investigate crimes and catch criminials AFTER THE FACT. Police aren't mind readers. They cannot be in every house in the country guarding people. Rich folks hire bodyguards and have expensive security systems to protect themselves, their families, and their property. What do you have?

I Couldn't Make the March Due to a Bout with Strep Throat...

....but our family was well represented. Only three of the adults in the photo were born before Roe v. Wade. All the rest of these dear ones are survivors of the abortion holocaust. If you are a survivor, how can you be pro-abortion? It's only by God's grace and your mom's decision to let you live that you didn't end up like one third of your spiritual brothers and sister - in the landfills and sewage systems of this once great nation!

The Survivor Generation Will End Abortion!

Pray for them! And may abortion become the unthinkable crime against humanity it is among all those who survived the holocaust.

Getting a New Hobby: Guess What

I'll give you a hint. It involves LOTS of new friends. We'll be spending more time doing it in the spring, summer, and fall than in the winter. We'll use some special equipment while we do it. And it's completely out of our current experience. If you're curious and want to see what it is, go here.

"Safe, Legal Abortion": What a Myth

Mississippi is likely to close its last abortion mill. Why? Because it's dangerous to women! Mississippi requires doctors to have hospital privileges and apparently nobody wants to accommodate the out-of-state fly-in abortionists. They were turned down by five hospitals and didn't even approach the two religiously-affiliated institutions The owner, who has other mills (hey, abortion is a goldmine), is very familiar with health violations. There were 76 pages of them at her facility in Birmingham. Read the article at LifeSiteNews linked above. Abortion doesn't just kill babies; abortionists kill and injure women as well. They really are the bottom feeders of the medical community.

Sounds Like the Boy Scouts are about to Cave

Boy Scouts may soon welcome sodomite leaders

Excluding same-sex attracted men from being Scout leaders is not an issue of "civil rights" or discrimination; it's common sense. The fact is that almost 40% of child sex abuse is committed by homosexuals who represent 2% of the population. That means, if you take a random group of men from the pool of homosexual men and an equal group from the heterosexual population, you are much likelier to have abusers among the homosexuals than among the heterosexuals. When my boys were young I would no more put them in a troop with a gay leader than I would send them to the store with a shoplifter. Even if the homosexual is not a molester, his view of the world is skewed and he is an unhealthy masculine role model..

No matter how much the world tries to make homosexuality normal, it isn't. It isn't normal to pretend that another guy's anus is a woman's vagina. And no matter how many people buy into the homosexual's imaginary world, it is still an imaginary world. Pray for those with same-sex inclinations. They aren't normal and, if they indulge in their fantasies, they put both their physical health and their spiritual health in jeopardy. And pray for the Boy Scouts. If they change this policy they may very well be on the way to extinction.

The "Pro-Choice" Gang Admit It: It's a Baby; So What!

The article in Salon is here and it's so sickening I could hardly read it. Although, it's not the first time I've heard the argument. Back in the 70s when I talked to an abortionist, Thomas Gressinger, at one of our trials, he admitted it was a baby and said exactly that, "Sure it's a baby, so what?" He would kill a baby for any reason if the woman wanted it and had the money to pay for it.

One More Example of Media Bias

They keep the West Coast March for Life under wraps! Well, what can you expect in San Francisco, the bastion of perversity? Wouldn't want the truth to get out that there are actually tens of thousands of pro-life/pro-family folks in the area. But not in the city. Families have been fleeing for years making San Francisco a virtual child-free zone. At the same time domestic violence is way up. Sounds like a city without much of a future.

Make No Mistake: Feinstein Wants an Outright Ban

Her bill this week is just a bump on the road on the way to gun confiscation.

Highlights from the March for Life

You didn't see this on the mainstream media's biased stations. They were too busy making plans for the anti-gun crowds coming the next day. Pass this video on so the whole world can see what the Culture of Life looks like. We are the "voice of the voiceless," as Rick Santorum said. "And one day, we will be [on the mall] in triumph because love always triumphs." Amen!

By the way, if you want to see incredible bias read The Washington Post's Sunday article. They showed a close up of the crowd to make sure people wouldn't get a visual image of the tremendous crowd and ran a photo with similar numbers of the meager pro-abort presence (about 100 compared to 500-600 THOUSAND). They also stressed the buses coming from Catholic schools to make it a "Catholic issue," the continuation of Margaret Sanger's anti-Catholic policy. I've been to most of the marches over the years and stopped paying attention to the media years ago because what The Post did is TYPICAL. They don't care about the truth or reporting the news. Every article is slanted toward their ideological bias.

Pray for the speedy demise of The Washington Post which is losing readers at a rapid clip. Let all their "reporters" who practice advocacy journalism be forced to get real jobs!

Meditation: Praise God on Sunday

Morning Prayer today was filled with psalms of praise, and so I offer this hymn of praise For the Beauty of the Earth to remind us of God's wondrous glory. Despite living in a culture of death, the beauty of God's earth surrounds us. Praise Him for it today and every day. It will strengthen your resolve to fight for the Culture of Life. (I've never heard this version of the hymn before, but it is lovely sung by the angelic voices of the boys' choir.)

And one more for good measure to remind you of a world that is truly "bright and beautiful."

Devotion to the Seven Sorrows of Mary

One of my New Year's resolutions is to increase my devotion to the seven sorrows of Mary. All of us have sorrows in our lives. We mothers, especially, suffer for our children. We suffer from their little troubles when they are little children and from their big troubles when they are adults. A mom's sufferings will never end until the day she dies. So what a wonderful devotion for us to unite our sufferings for our children with the sufferings of Mary. Not did her soul "magnify the Lord" in his wonder and glory, but she magnified the Lord in His sufferings and death. What greater friend can a suffering soul have than the suffering Mother of God. And what a consolation to have her wonderful promises. Please spread this devotion among your family and friends that more souls might benefit from Mary's promises.

Margaret Sanger vs. The Catholic Church

Those familiar with the abortion movement know that an early strategy was to create an enemy. Bernard Nathanson, abortionist turned pro-life champion, tells how he and Lawrence Lader, founder of NARAL, made up "facts" about millions of illegal abortions and deliberately targeted the Catholic Church as the enemy of women. It was effective.

But Nathanson and Lader were simply following the lead of an earlier anti-life liar, Margaret Sanger. Sanger was a brilliant strategist and used lies to further her evil purposes. Early on she decided to target the Church, the greatest bulwark standing against her message of promiscuity and free sex.

The New Civil War: States Rights in the Feds' Crosshairs

Well, it's beginning to look like the next civil war will be over the second amendment. Already, state legislatures are either lining up with the Feds to increase gun control and even ban and confiscate guns or they are drawing a line in the sand telling the Feds to butt out. It's a timely fight in view of the draconian gun bill introduced this week by Diane Feinstein.

Here are a few states defending the right to bear arms.

On March for Life Day -- For All the Babies Lost to Abortion

Fox Features The Following -- Serial Killers and Excessive Violence

TV insanity continues. It's not enough that we have real life mass killings, we need a show about serial killers that gives us all the violent, gory details. Two thumbs down to Fox for giving this monstrosity life. Putting these violent images in the imagination gives the devil fuel for his poisonous temptations. How can anyone claim that this has no impact and yet companies spend billions on advertising? This is advertising for serial killers even if the good guys win. And how many people, young people particularly, will be influenced by it?

Contact Fox and politely urge them to ditch this program. It is an insult to the victims of mass killers. When you look at their real-life backgrounds, you often find violent video games and movies. See here and here. The Sandy Hook killer lived in a violent virtual world. So did the Columbine killers. And we still hear liberals claiming they have no impact? Get real!

Parents, keep your kids away from this show and prudent adults would be wise not to watch as well. Think about it. What would happen if Hollywood made a movie or TV series and nobody came?

Send a polite letter to Fox asking them to ditch this horrible program!

Male Chauvinist Pig Celebrates Roe v. Wade...

....the biggest cop-out for an irresponsible man that every came down the pike. "Hey, my sweet little sex object, you can ALWAYS get an abortion." This is the slickest of the sickies! Many women testify they felt "violated" by the ad. As well they should. As for Mehcad Brooks, he's a misogynist who wants women in their place -- the abortion mill. And all those babies he's addressing? Their tiny bloody bodies are in the sewers and landfills.

Obama Policies are Fascist....

...but nobody is allowed to say it!

Is Obamacare Socialist or Fascist?

John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, got the jackboot treatment from the liberal media for daring to call a spade a spade. Yup, fascism controls everything. And isn't that what the Obama administration is trying to do? Too bad Mackey didn't hold his ground with the liberal propaganda merchants. As for the "honest man," Diogenes is still looking for one who combines honesty with guts.

Will Bill Bolling be a Spoiler in Virginia's Governor Race?

Bill Bolling Still Looking at Independent Run for Governor

Will Bolling embrace the role of spoiler? I hope not, but the only thing bigger than a politician's ego, is his capacity for revenge. If Bolling runs, he will probably siphon off votes from Cuccinelli and damage his chances while giving Clinton acolyte Terry McAuliffe a better chance to win. But that is so typical of these establishment Republicans. They would rather damage a conservative's chances of winning than let the Republicans of Virginia select their candidate. Who do the hoi polloi think they are anyway?

Bolling, is nothing but a sore loser who got angry when Cuccinelli threw a wrench into his backroom deal with Bob McDonnell to be the next governor. Every other potential candidate was supposed to "get in line" behind him. Frankly, I want a real conservative and Bill Bolling doesn't fill the bill. Expediency is his philosophy which he presented when he talked about "respecting" the opinions of "pro-choice" Republicans. How does a pro-lifer respect the opinion of someone who supports killing babies in the womb? Where's our "common ground" pray tell? Just kill (fill in the blank) babies?

Politicians like Bolling want the social issues to go away so they can just run on economics. That was Romney's LOSING strategy. The social, moral issues are the ones that matter. And as our society sinks more and more into moral depravity, people will begin to wake up and see that as a fact.

Sebelius Wants to Test Anthrax Vaccine on Kids

Hmm...anthrax for kids!
Why not?
Kathleen Sebelius, who was an enthusiastic supporter of late-term abortionist George Tiller has carried her anti-child philosophy to a new level. She wants to test anthrax vaccines on kids -- for their own good, of course even though there isn't a single medical benefit for the children (an ethical requirement for experiments). But, hey, gotta collect data on the proper vaccine dosage just in case of an anthrax attack. Hmm...one big problem...maybe parents won't go along with it. Ah...here's an idea...pay a premium and get all the inner-city poor minority families to sell/volunteer their kids. Since abortion hasn't killed enough of them off, this offers a new opportunity to get rid of people Margaret Sanger considered "human weeds." No doubt they could partner with Planned Parenthood who always has a hand out for the federal bucks.

Is anybody surprised that the Obama administration wants to use children as the new lab rats? After all, chimpanzees and other animals are much more valuable than children in the liberal mindset. According to the New York Times, NIH is retiring its chimp research program and sending all the precious little critters to sanctuaries, so obviously a new experimental subject is necessary.  Why not kids? After all there are too many people on the planet and if a few of the experiments result in death, all the better for the health of Mother Earth.

The only time children have value to liberals is when they can be used to advance gun control or serve as cute little stage props. It's not a new technique. Have you ever noticed the fundraising appeals from hospitals that do abortions? They often use their neo-natal units in the materials with adorable little preemies whose lives are celebrated. They never include the pictures of the "unwanted" babies down the hall who were killed by abortion. Fairfax Hospital was notorious for that approach. Haven't seen their materials in awhile, but I suspect they are still at it. Whatever works, eh?

Oh Goody -- Women Required to Register for the Draft Next?

Panetta Lifts Ban on Women in Combat

Groupon Discriminates against Second Amendment Businesses

The deal-maker Groupon has taken the anti-gun side of the gun debate by canceling the deal offered by a Texas gun dealer for a reduced cost gun class. According to an AOL report, Groupon has suspended all gun-related deals. Ironically, this took place after a Groupon rep called the gun dealer to increase the number of deals from 600 to 1500 because of demand. You can let Groupon know just what you think about their discrimination against the second amendment by contacting them here (support group) or here (investor relations).

On a related subject, The Wanderer has a great front page article in the January 17th issue titled, "Obama's America Turns Meek Me into a Gun Owner" by my friend Dexter Duggan who lives in the Phoenix area where violence related to illegal immigration is rampant. Dexter speaks for many of us

"He Provided a Service" - Gosnell's Little Shop of Horrors

This was a "safe, legal" abortion mill targeting the poor. Nobody bothered about these women. Nobody cared about their safety. Gosnell made millions preying on these women. He was a back alley butcher on main street.  Where were the feminists who claim to care about women? Women are expendable to them as long as the sacrament of abortion is maintained. Abortion is the #1 killer of black people killing more than all other causes combined. The next time a pro-abortion person accuses you of being a racist for being pro-life, tell him that dirty little fact about abortion. It targets the poor, minorities, and the desperate.

Listen Up, Pro-Lifers: We Must Run and Not Grow Weary

After 40 years of unrelenting child murder, it's not surprising if you are feeling discouraged. But Eric Scheidler gives us ten big accomplishments to fire us up for the continued fight. Read them, thank God, and rededicated yourself to prayer and work. Abortion WILL END. God will never abandon His babies.

They're Coming: Obama Brings on the Community Organizers

Read more here.

Moral corruption is coming bigtime! Alinsky organizing is based on Machiavellian principles. The primary goal is "success" and any means to achieve it is justified. Now the Obamas are launching a new community organizing group and you can bet it will use all the immoral Alinsky strategies that have worked so effectively for them in the past. The first lady is pushing it and you better believe she has no problem with an obese federal government consuming the middle class and the Constitution.

Community organizing is about one thing: POWER! And it isn't power to the people, despite the pretense. It's power to the organizers using the people as their ramrod. (Remember history. Tyrants ALWAYS use the mob. Just look at the French Revolution, the Communist Revolution, the Nazis rise to power, not to mention the Arab Spring.

Stephanie Block has a blockbuster three-part book on Alinsky organizing published at Speroforum.com. You need to know what the enemy is doing to destroy America. Stephanie peels back the layers to show the corrupt heart of Obama's machine. If you love America, study her book and fight the modern day "Prince" in the White House who rules with "Cleopatra" (Michelle's new look ) by his side.

A Good Point About Guns and Gun Control

Bring Back the Communion Rails! Amen.

A deacon calls for a return to reverent reception of the Eucharist. I couldn't agree more. But don't wait. If you are receiving in the hand consider a return to Communion on the tongue. It is a graphic reminder of our dependence on God. Who gets fed in our culture? Babies, the sick, and the elderly and one other group - lovers feed one another. Remember the cake at the wedding reception? It is a sign of intimacy between lovers. We stand before God completely dependent on him for everything, for the next breath we take. He loves us personally and knows us inside out. I guarantee if you begin receiving on the tongue, you will be blessed by it. God is never outdone in generosity and making yourself humble before Him will not go unnoticed. We can't bring back the Communion rails as individuals, but we can increase the reverence we have toward the Eucharist.

One other thing - reception on the tongue is the way the Church prefers you to receive. Did you know that? Be little before the God who comes to you in the Eucharist. Imitate His humility by letting yourself be fed.

This Video Will be Shown Along the March Route...

Don't You Love a Lazy Sunday with Friends?

Young Chesterton 1898
What a delightful day. I've been browsing the internet looking for information on G.K. Chesterton and Myles Connolly for a little presentation I'm doing next month at the get-together of the Northern Virginia Chesterton Society. We're looking at Chesterton's Manalive and Connolly's Mr. Blue, two absolutely delightful, light-hearted books with bigger-than-life protagonists filled with the joy of life and living it to the full.

We've discussed both books individually, although, sad to say, I missed the meeting on Mr. Blue which occupies a prominent place on my "best of all times" books. Now we'll see them side by side. That statement, "side by side," makes me laugh. Chesterton and Connolly were both physically large men, about 6'3". Chesterton weighed about 300 pounds and Connolly wasn't far behind at 270. What fun it would have been to see them together in a discussion -- a meeting of the Titans. Connolly was twenty years younger than Chesterton, but, even in those early days when he was fresh out of college, I suspect he was well aware of the bigger-than-life journalist across the pond.

Wlhoa...Obama Increases Federal Agencies Tracking Guns from Three to Nine

Well, if you can outright confiscate them, the next best thing is to put as many agencies as possible in the role of meddling. Wonder how much it will cost when all these agencies are tracking legal gun ownership.

Obama gun order triples Cabinet agencies required to track guns

Take America Back

Songs can be a powerful way to spread a message. Pass this one along.

And if you like that video, try this one. Interestingly, I came across it right after I read that the naked body scanners machines are being removed from airports. Did the ridicule of the TSA help bring about that outcome?  As for the grope There's no way I will EVER let anybody do that to me even if I never fly again.

10 Books that Screwed Up the World

I've just begun reading an interesting book called 10 Books that Screwed Up the World: and 5 Others That Didn't Help by Benjamin Wiker. I've only just begun, but I know I'm going to like it from the Introduction which is titled "Ideas Have Consequences." Indeed they do! People of faith know that ideas have consequences. Sinful thoughts often lead to sinful behavior, but, even when they don't, they can be sinful in themselves. Adultery isn't the only sin against the 6th commandment. Looking in lust at others (a sin of the mind) is also gravely wrong. One may not steal, but coveting, an act conceived in the mind and chosen with the will, is also sinful. (N.B. Coveting is the sin underlying class envy, certainly a common sin in our age.)

Wiker says ideas released in print, "can be, and have been, as dangerous and harmful as deadly diseases...[and] If we take a good, hard, sober look at the awful effects of such deadly ideas we can come to only one conclusion: there are books that really have screwed up the world." To emphasize his point he quotes Thomas Carlyle, the Scottish essayist:

It's Contraception, Stupid! It's Fatal to the Faith!

Yup, a root cause of our crumbling society is contraception. Mike Voris pegs it. All the sexual deviancies have their foundation in the rejection of the truth that sexual union and procreation are inextricably connected and cannot be separated without creating a spiritual explosion equivalent to splitting the atom.

Are you unsure about contraception? Read both Humanae Vitae and Fr.John Hardon's article Contraception: Fatal to the Faith. If you are practicing contraception you are in danger of hell. If you are promoting contraception to others, you are in danger of hell. Medical professionals who prescribe and dispense contraceptives are in danger of hell. That is the hard truth. We will be marching on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, but Roe was an aftershock of the real earthquake, Griswold v. Connecticut. I remember a statement from one of my Natural Family Planning (NFP) students. "I was on the way to hell, and NFP saved my life." God made us in a way that allows the spacing of children. The Church teaches that couples may use NFP for serious reasons. When I had cancer and was on chemotherapy at age 39, NFP allowed my husband and me to comfort each other in sexual intimacy without fearing we would endanger a child's life. NFP and the Church's teaching on marriage and sexuality are not punishments; they are part of the good news. Embrace Church teaching on this issue that is so central to who we are as body/spirit persons. Like my young friend realized, the freedom you experience is life and soul-saving!

Did You Hear about the Double Suicide of the Belgian Twins?

Marc and Eddy Verbessem were deaf and going blind, so they decided to end it all. It's a sad affair, especially when you consider the likelihood of a very hot destination that awaits an unrepentant suicide who is in his right mind. In a splendid article, James Thunder addressed the situation comparing their decision with the life of another deaf and blind person, Helen Keller.
Helen Keller, Anne Sullivan, and Assisted Suicide

For a video about the case go here. Belgium and Holland are the two countries that have legalized assisted suicide. In Holland the elderly are afraid to go to the hospital. After all, when some lives are considered not worth living and doctors are killers is any sick person safe? A friend of mine with a terminal illness had a blockage several months ago and a doctor in Winchester basically wrote her off telling her, "Well you've fought a good fight." He made the decision surgery was useless, but she didn't feel that way and fortunately has another doctor who agreed. Is she afraid to die? Not this lady! She is cheerful and smiling and keeps aggressively fighting her disease, not out of fear, but from all appearances to continue her vocation of prayer. Despite her illness she is at morning Mass most days and still keeps her 2-3 a.m. hour of adoration along with her faithful, non-Catholic husband who drives her over the mountain to church. It is obvious to all who know her that her love of God and union with Christ's suffering gives her the will to live every moment as a precious opportunity to know, love, and serve God. When you recognize that your life belongs to God, killing yourself is not an option and you may even have the courage to welcome your suffering. We are not our own masters! We do not own ourselves. Our creator is the one with the right over life and death -- not us! These men had a purpose and a future. It's sad that no one helped them to see it.

Another Homosexual Priest...

Msgr. Kevin Wallin got busted in Bridgeport for selling meth. Read more here

Pray that every homosexual priest in the country is exposed. (No pun intended.) You cannot live a double life pretending to be a heterosexual who has given up wife and family in service to the Lord when you haven't. Homosexuals give up nothing when they enter the priesthood and they place themselves in a serious occasion of sin.

What Do You Think?

I'm not much for conspiracy theories, but if half the information in this video is true, it sure is strange. Is it true that the parents of the victims weren't allowed to view the bodies which the video claims? I find that hard to believe. Watch for youself. It's a head-shaker, especially the information about facebook pages being set up to collect money before the incident took place. Is the video maker lying? And where were the emergency vehicles? Again - very strange. Lots of inconsistencies. What do you think?

Bob Pappas' commentary is a pretty chilling scenario of what might have gone through the mind of Adam Lanza before he went on his killing rampage. It is also consistent with what's known about his background as details emerge. My brother, a retired policeman, says he believes our culture creates this kind of monster and that people would be surprised if they knew how many serial killers are on the loose out there. He believes many "missing persons" are the victims. Let's face it, the culture of death creates monsters who kill both literally and figuratively. One of them has developed a video game where players can be Adam Lanza and recreate his actions. Unbelievable, eh? But here is is. Meanwhile, creators of violent video games continue to insist that violent games don't influence anybody. Oh yeah? Think of these games as advertising or virtual training. Does anyone really believe a steady diet of this garbage has no impact on a person, but thirty second ads on the Super Bowl do?

Sin is first conceived in the mind. Studies show that porn users often move on to real life imitation of the rapes and perversions they see on screen. Adam Lanza made evil choices in his mind that influenced his evil actions. That's why the Church teaches us to have "custody of the eyes." Because what we see can definitely influence the choices we make. Pray for our poor, disintegrating country.

Great NRA Ad Points out (Again) Elitist Hypocrisy

Many of the liberal elite have armed guards at their homes and their workplace. But they insist that advertising to would-be assassins that schools are unprotected is enough to guarantee the safety of our kids. It's time to expose these hypocrites. Obama is ensuring that former presidents get lifetime protection from armed Secret Service agents. Shouldn't ordinary citizens, who don't have the privileges of the elite, have the right to protect themselves? Let's make this ad go viral. Please pass it on, post it on your FB page and let the world know that you support our Constitutional rights. The Founders weren't primarily thinking of hunters when they passed the 2nd Amendment. They knew about tyranny and wanted citizens to have the ability to fight it.

Walter Williams Asks...Are Guns the Problem?

His answer is a big NO! It's the breakdown of moral values, parental authority, and traditions. Here's a snippet from his column:
During the '50s and '60s, the education establishment launched its agenda to undermine lessons children learned from their parents and the church with fads such as "values clarification." So-called sex education classes are simply indoctrination that sought to undermine family and church strictures against premarital sex. Lessons of abstinence were ridiculed and considered passé and replaced with lessons about condoms, birth control pills and abortions. Further undermining of parental authority came with legal and extralegal measures to assist teenage abortions with neither parental knowledge nor consent.
Customs, traditions, moral values and rules of etiquette, not laws and government regulations,

New Year's Resolution: Pray Liturgy of the Hours

I'm happy to say that I kept my new year's resolution in 2012 not to buy any new clothes. I even kept out of the thrift stores and didn't buy any used clothes either. Yesterday at Costco was the first time I've purchased an item of clothing. After a year, I'll leave you to guess what I bought. I also found some sparkly pink slippers on sale at Kohl's for 80% off. Why should the little ones get all the glittery fun?

This year's resolution is a work in progress. I'm going to follow in the steps of St. Catherine of Sienna and pursue joining the Third Order Dominicans, something I've thought about for years. (Yes, St. Catherine was a third order LAY member of the Dominicans, not a nun as many think.) I met with the novice master and went to my first community gathering last week. One of the commitments is to pray Morning and Evening prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours. I had the book already because I've tried (unsuccessfully) to do it in the past. My discipline was lacking as well as the confusion of the one-volume book. But the internet is a big help. I check where I think I'm supposed to be with the schedule online and if I'm in the wrong place, get myself back to the right one. After the Eucharist, the most importance practice in the Church is Liturgy of the Hours. (Although, I think the practice a person follows through on is the most important in practical terms.)

But there is something particularly exciting about praying through the day with the Church knowing millions of others are in union with you. That union is one of the signs of the Church, or maybe two. We are one and we are Catholic (universal). I am happy to be with the one true Church that surrounds the entire globe praying in union with my spiritual brothers and sisters. Kind of exciting, don't you think? Of course we do that every day at Mass as well and daily Mass is the most important spiritual work anyone can do.

You don't have to be a member of a religious or lay order to pray Liturgy of the Hours. Just buy a copy of it and refer to the help sites on the internet. Actually, you don't even need to buy the book. You can pray it on-line and even download it to your I-pad or I-phone. If I'm not mistaken there's an app if you have technology to support one.

Our Biggest Problem? The Country is Run by Idiots!

This post is going viral around the internet and it's no wonder. It's absolutely on target. And more idiocy pops up every day. Unfortunately, some of it is supported by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Which leads me to once again quote Pope Pius V who said, "All the evil in the world is due to lukewarm Catholics." Sadly, some of those "lukewarm Catholics" wear Roman collars. And when the shepherds are lukewarm, you get a flock of sick sheep or, even worse, wolves! Yes, the country is run by idiots at every level of government, but who is filling out the ballots that elect them?
You know you live in a country run by idiots...

tobacco is treated like a criminal offense.

Supreme Court Holding Conference on Obama ID Forgery Case

Here's the press release:
Law offices of Orly Taitz
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States John Roberts scheduled a case by attorney Orly Taitz dealing with Barack Hussein Obama’s use of forged IDs to be heard in conference before the full Supreme Court. The case titled Noonan, Judd, MacLeran, Taitz v Bowen provides a mountain of evidence of Barack Obama using a last name not legally his, forged Selective Service application, forged long form and short form birth certificate and a Connecticut Social Security number 042-68-4425 which was never assigned to him according to E-Verify and SSNVS. Additionally, this case provides evidence of around one and a half million invalid voter registrations in the state of California alone.
Please, keep in mind, Richard Nixon was reelected and sworn in, but later was forced to resign as a result of Watergate. over 30 high ranking officials of Nixon administration including Attorney General of the United States and White HouseCcounsel were indicted, convicted and went to prison. ObamaForgery gate is a hundred times bigger then Watergate. More corrupt high ranking officials, US Attorneys, AGs and judges were complicit, committed high treason by allowing a citizen of Indonesia and possibly still a citizen of Kenya Barack Hussein Obama, aka Barack (Barry) Soebarkah, aka Barack (Barry) Soetoro to usurp the U.S. Presidency by use of forged IDs and a stolen Social security number.
This doesn't mean the case will actually be heard. If you read the procedures of the court, the justices conference to decide which cases to hear. For the case to be added to the docket, four justices must vote to hear it. Start praying that at least four members of the Supreme Court care enough about the Constitution to vote to hear the case. Without the grace of the Holy Spirit I think this effort is doomed. Stay tuned.

A Million March in Paris to Affirm the Natural Family

...and oppose same-sex "marriage." And here is my message to the people of France:

Ultrasound has Changed the Landscape on Abortion

Would a mother kill her two year old if he fell and injured his brain so badly he would never develop normally? Of course not! Parents deal with life. The idea of killing a baby in the womb because the baby is sick or not developing normally is no different. The only reason parents can kill their children in the womb is they are invisible to them. But ultrasound has changed that as this bittersweet story shows:

Mother Rejects Abortion After Seeing Baby’s Smile in Ultrasound:
Katyia Rowe was told her baby would never be able to walk or talk, but a real-time ultrasound scan showed him blowing bubbles and waving his arms, so she decided to go through with the birth. he died just 9 hours later, but she is very glad she chose life instead of abortion.

We Will Remember: How Being Chained to an Abortion Table Saved a Life

This month marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Once again on January 22nd, tens of thousands will march on Washington to commemorate the little ones whose blood drenches our poor country. We will march and pray for an end to the American holocaust - and we will remember. We must remember because memory is the gift future generations give to the martyred victims of the past.

In his 1986 Nobel Peace Prize lecture, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel emphasized the importance of remembering even when memories are so painful one longs to forget. He reminded his listeners of a Jewish historian, Shimon Dubnov who exhorted his companions in the Riga ghetto, most of whom were killed under the Third Reich's policy of racial genocide, to "write it all down." Wiesel tells us:
Overnight, countless victims became chroniclers and historians in the ghettos, even in the death camps. Even members of the Sonderkommandos, those inmates forced to burn their fellow inmates' corpses before being burned in turn, left behind extraordinary documents. To testify became an obsession. They left us poems and letters, diaries and fragments of novels, some known throughout the world, others still unpublished.
The response to great atrocities, whether the Holocaust during World War II, the Rwandan massacres, or our own American Abortion Holocaust must be to remember. As Wiesel said, "We must remember the suffering...[and] struggle to invent a thousand and one reasons to hope." The stories, especially those of hope,  not only respect the victims of the past, they give courage to new generations fighting to overcome the darkness of the present.

And so,  I have a story to tell, a story of hope, a thirty-five year old story from the early days of the abortion holocaust when a handful of activists were trying to wake up the country, but primarily trying to save babies, one at a time, from the extermination camps on American soil.

My story begins on a hot July morning in 1977, a decade before the large protests of Operation Rescue in the late '80s and early '90s. Small groups of pro-lifers were "sitting in" at abortion mills around the country trying to save the babies in danger of imminent death. I was part of that early movement because, as a young mother of tiny children, my heart was wrenched by the murder of babies I considered siblings to my own. And so our little band went to the abortion mill of a man instrumental in overturning Washington, D.C.'s law against abortion, a man who set the stage and helped bring about Roe v. Wade.

Milan Vuitch was a Serbian immigrant, a member of the back alley butchers society who performed illegal abortions in his basement for years before legalization. While feminists portrayed illegal abortion with coat hangars, in reality many abortionists were doctors moonlighting on the side. Vuitch openly bragged about his actions and was arrested numerous times in D.C. without ever serving a  day in jail. After abortion was legalized, he simply moved his shingle from the back alley to an office building on I Street and named his mill the Laurel Clinic. But Vuitch continued to provide unsafe "back alley" services. After Roe guaranteed "safe legal abortions," Vuitch killed two women, 17-year-old Wilma Harris in 1974 and 32-year-old Georgianna English in 1980 and he maimed many others. Vuitch, in fact, continued to be a controversial figure. In 1984, WDVM-TV won a Peabody Award for an expose by reporter Mark Feldstein showing numerous medical violations at the Laurel Clinic including filthy instruments, using questionable anesthesia drugs, and other dangerous practices. On one occasion Vuitch even sent a 17-year-old home with an incomplete abortion telling her to return with $400 before he would finish the procedure. He also instructed her not to go to the hospital, but she collapsed and was taken to the emergency room where she delivered a six-month-old premature baby who later died.

Vuitch always postured as a man holding the moral high ground claiming he only aborted for "medical reasons," but it wasn't true. He would abort for no reason or any reason. During the WDVM investigation, Feldstein had a female associate go for a pregnancy test using his urine. Vuitch staff told her she was, indeed, pregnant. It was all about the money!

Even before all this information came to light, Vuitch was notorious enough for our group to choose his facility for the sit-in. The plan that day included delaying our removal as long as possible giving pro-life counselors time to offer help and information to the mothers. How? By not only blocking the abortion rooms, but chaining ourselves to the tables.

We met at nearby St. Matthew's Cathedral for Mass and prayed the mothers would choose life for their babies. Then we moved on to the "clinic" with chains and padlocks. Three women, myself included, were chained to operating tables in the abortion rooms. When asked later by media why we chained ourselves, I said the chains not only made it harder to remove us, but symbolized what abortion does to women, making them recyclable sex objects chained to the Playboy mentality.

During the sit-in one young woman left the clinic in tears. Her name was Linda and she met my friend Brigid among those picketing outside. Linda didn't really want an abortion. Like many women, she felt forced by her circumstances. She told Brigid she knew the clinic staff were lying to her when they said the baby was "just a clump of cells." Our presence and encouragement was all she needed to change her mind. Linda not only chose life for her baby that day, she later asked Brigid to be her little girl's godmother. And Baby Tee received a special gift from God. She was born on the fifth anniversary of Roe v. Wade, January 22, 1978, a confirmation of life on an anniversary of death.

So on January 22nd, 2013, the 40th anniversary of one of the blackest days in American history, a blaze of birthday candles will light up a cake. Tee will be 35 years old. Her birth was the end of a chapter on the impact of the early sit-ins, but only the beginning of a chapter on life and hope. Baby Tee made visible the reason we risked arrest and went to jail. Her life was more than worth it. But that isn't quite the end of the story. I had the privilege of babysitting for Tee one day and snapped a photo of her sitting on my son Neil's lap,  two little children beloved by God and their mothers.

A quote from the Talmud reads, "Whoever destroys a soul, it is considered as if he destroyed an entire world. And whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world." The American abortion tragedy can be summed up in that quote. There are millions of stories of abortion, one for every baby killed and every baby who survives, one for every mother who chooses life and every mother who chooses death. There are stories for the abortionists and clinic workers who repent and there are stories for the pro-lifers who picket and counsel, who staff crisis pregnancy centers, and preach the truth to the culture of death.

We need to write those stories down and remember. As Elie Wiesel said,  "I remember the killers, I remember the victims.... There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." And that's why the pro-life movement will win in the end. Because those who stand for life will remember. We will never give up or give in. We will never forget and we will never allow society to forget either, because to save one child is to save the whole world!

No Matter How Short Their Lives, They Had Meaning

If these babies had been born in the U.S., efforts might have been made to save them, especially the baby who weighed 450 grams (almost a pound). In one recent year (2010) ten babies weighing less than a pound were born in the U.S. and survived. USA Today carried a story in December 2011 about preemie survival that included this information:
The smallest surviving baby born weighing 9.2 ounces is now a healthy 7-year-old and another who weighed 9.9 ounces at birth is an honors college student studying psychology. Their progress was detailed in a study published this week in the journal Pediatrics by doctors at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois where the girls were born.
In the U.K. preemies less than 22 weeks are not treated which resulted in a bizarre situation at one hospital where a baby born two days earlier in gestation than the "approved" date was left to die over the mother's pleas for medical assistance. Had the birth been delayed only 48 hours the baby would have been treated. One wonders if the situations in both the U.K. and Canada are based on their socialized medicine policies. These little ones just aren't worth treating.

I fear this outcome is coming in the U.S. as Obamacare is fully implemented. There will not only be death panels for the elderly, but probably death panels for the young as well. A baby doesn't weigh enough? Into the trash bin. So sad. Artificial wombs are on the horizon, but I wonder if they will primarily be used for technological atrocities like altering the cells of men so homosexual couples can have biological children who are then "nurtured" in a machine. It's not science fiction any more and the possibilities are horrifying!

Is the March for Life on Your Calendar?

If not, why not? Will you spiritually march if you can't physically march? The murder of the innocent is the compelling issue of our age. We kill babies in the womb; we destroy embryonic children in the laboratory; we starve and dehydrate the sick and elderly. The culture of death shakes its fist at the God of Life! How will you respond?

Because of the inauguration, this year's March takes place on Friday, January 25th, three days after the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Join physically if you can, spiritually if you are too far away or too incapacitated to march. Prayer and action are the two beams that make up the cross. March for the little ones who can't march for themselves. Speak for the babies who have no voice but yours. Pray and work every day of the year for an end to abortion.

And if you voted for Obama and come to the March without repenting and confessing, you are a liar and hypocrite and had just as well stay home. A house divided against itself cannot stand. You cannot serve both God and Mammon.

The "Gay" Attack on the Scouts and the Church

I love the Boy Scouts. All the people who hate them are the same ones who demonize pro-lifers and people of faith. When your enemies are those who advocate murdering babies and engaging in perversion, you can be proud of yourself for standing for truth. But the assault on the Boy Scouts just goes on and on. The latest media blitz involves a "gay" scout who is over 18 but is demanding to be named an Eagle Scout retroactively.
John Fenoglio, Scout executive for the Mount Diablo-Silverado Boy Scout Council, said the Eagle rank application from Ryan Andresen of Moraga, California, wasn't approved because of "membership standards," specifically "duty to God, avowed homosexuality, and the fact that he is now over 18 years of age."..."The Eagle application was forwarded, by a volunteer, to the local council but it was not approved because this young man proactively stated that he does not agree to Scouting's principle of 'Duty to God' and does not meet Scouting's membership requirements," Smith said. "Therefore, he is not eligible to receive the rank of Eagle."
The Scouts refused to award Eagle Scout and being attacked for their "bigotry and intolerance." A related issue to the battle over the Scouts determining their own policies and standards is the attack on religious freedom. An open letter recently released by Catholic priests in the U.K. says, gay marriage is biggest threat to religious freedoms since the reformation. Amen! Catholics are being denied the right to make a living unless they bend to "gay marriage." (Thomas More could tell us a few things about being persecuted for refusing to bless an immoral "marriage.") B&B operators, caterers, photographers, vineyard owners all  must bow to the demand that their facilities and services cooperate with intrinsic evils or face lawsuits. The choice?   Cooperate or close down. And we are the intolerant ones? Some days I feel like I live in an X-rated Wonderland.

Judge Andrew Napolitano on the Right to Bear Arms

Judge Andrew Napolitano, in an article in the Washington Post, gave a history lesson on the right to bear arms. It's not about hunting, it's about the right of citizens to defend themselves against tyrants. Can anyone doubt that our government has crossed the line into tyranny? When a sitting president gives himself the right to assassinate American citizens without trial or even judicial review, accountable to no one if he says the citizen is a "terrorist," what is left? (Even the New York Times took umbrage in an editorial.) As a pro-life activist, I might very well be on the government's list of "domestic terrorists" even though my biggest "crime" was being chained to an operating table in an abortion mill. So I am concerned about giving the right to any president to decide that some citizen he doesn't like is a terrorist deserving assassination. I am particularly concerned because liberals tend to think of, and often call, those who disagree with them terrorists and other names too vile to mention.

I recommend Judge Napolitano's entire article, but here's a taste:
The historical reality of the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms is not that it protects the right to shoot deer. It protects the right to shoot tyrants, and it protects the right to shoot at them effectively, with the same instruments they would use upon us. If the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto had had the firepower and ammunition that the Nazis had, some of Poland might have stayed free and more persons would have survived the Holocaust.
Most people in government reject natural rights and personal sovereignty. Most people in government believe that the exercise of everyone’s rights is subject to the will of those in the government. Most people in government believe that they can write any law and regulate any behavior, not subject to the natural law, not subject to the sovereignty of individuals, not cognizant of history’s tyrants, but subject only to what they can get away with.

Peter Kreeft's Conversion Story

What better way to explore the Catholic faith than to listen to conversion stories? Peter Kreeft is a favorite writer of mine, a philosophy professor at Boston College. I never knew he was a convert. Today I listened to his conversion story. If you want to be able to defend the reason for the hope that is within you, listen to Peter Kreeft's story. He came to the faith through exercising his intellect and trying to overcome what he considered temptations to his Protestant faith.

The Catholic faith is reasonable. Those who want to portray Catholicism as anti-intellectual don't understand the Catholic faith. Of course, there are mysteries; we cannot understand everything. If we could, then God would not be God. But our faith is reasonable. It is also beautiful as Kreeft indicates when he talks about the beauty of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Catholicity of Shakespeare's plays, and the angelic quality of Palestrina's music.

Rejoice at being a Catholic. And if you aren't one, don't wait another minute to begin exploring the wonder that is the Catholic Church. Don't deny yourself the true presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharistic or your presence with us in fellowship. We're waiting for you!

Talk Show Host Calls for Mass Killing of "Birthers"

Remember when Rush Limbaugh got the liberal gauntlet treatment for daring to say that Sandra Fluke was a "slut" for wanting her sex life subsidized by the taxpayers? Obama called the poor little girl up to encourage her and then put her on the podium at the Democratic convention. I agreed that Rush's language was over the top and an apology was appropriate, but how come being liberal means never having to say you're sorry?

Have you heard anybody demanding an apology from liberal talk show host Mike Malloy for attacking Craige McMillan over his World Net Daily column saying Obama is ineligible to be president? Disagreeing with McMillan's position is one thing, but Malloy made disgusting slurs about McMillan. He also used God's name in vain saying "god**** birthers" should get in a circle with rifles and all shoot on his command. Somehow advocating mass killing of those with whom you disagree is perfectly legit for liberal talk show hosts. Where are the libs demanding "civility" and calling for apologies?

Anybody Want to Play?

Now really, this is just too mean. If I had put together this photo, I would have used more sensitive language: "Pin the Brain on the Mentally Challenged." And, of course, we all know that gun control policies are not being developed by "morons," but by anti-American tyrants. I think my new year's resolution will be to take a gun safety course and CPR. Then, if I have to shoot and disarm a home invader, I can give him first aid.

Be Afraid; Be Very Afraid

Not of this:

But of this:

Remember Ruby Ridge? Government agents entrapped Randy Weaver and later sent an FBI team to his home in the hills where they shot his 12-year-old son in the back and killed him and then shot his wife standing in the door holding their infant. Randy was also shot in the back. Later Randy was acquitted for killing an agent.  No one in the administration went to trial for their murders.

Samuel and Vicki Weaver with were murdered by federal agents under altered "rules of engagement."
Remember Waco? Seventy-six men, women, and children killed by the BATF and their buddies. No trial, no jury. They killed the kids to save the kids! No one in the Clinton administration was punished. The local sheriff who occasionally shot at the compound's shooting range, said he could have gone up to the door, knocked and talked to David Koresh.

Remember Benghazi: four Americans dead because of the federal government's failure to protect and defend. Read about the scandal here

I definitely think assault weapons should be banned for the federal government. No American is safe while the feds have these instruments of murder and death.

And speaking of murder and death, realize that Obama has said that he can order the assassination of any American he believes is a terrorist on his own authority. Read more here.

Landmark Ruling: Unborn Child is a Person!

Alabama Supreme Court Recognizes Unborn as Persons in Landmark Ruling

For the Child at Heart, A Delightful Movie

A few days ago I saw the Dreamworks' animated movie, Rise of the Guardians. I also happen to be doing a side-by-side read of Manalive by G.K. Chesterton and Mr. Blue by Miles Connolly. What a combination and a celebration of child-likeness. And the fact is that it was just happenstance that led my husband and me to choose the film. We wanted to take my stroke-incapacitated brother out to a movie and dinner. All the other films were too long and too late, so we shrugged and went for the kid flick. I'm so glad we did!

The theme of the movie is the battle between good and evil, in this case for the hearts and minds of the children. Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and the Sandman are lined up defending the children's faith in their existence against the evil anti-here "Pitch" (for Pitch dark) who wants to turn all their faith and hope to fear and fill their dreams with nightmares. The good guys face a tough situation and need help and the Man in the Moon has chosen Jack Frost, a flighty, fun-loving Peter Pan type, as the new guardian to bolster the group.

The guardians are anything but conventional. Santa is no ho-ho jolly elf, but a gruff Russian who reminds me of Peter's grandfather, oboe tones and all. I could imagine him appearing to a child saying, "Do not fear, little Mary. I bring you good tidings of great joy." The Easter Bunny is no honey bun either, but a  large jackrabbit with an Australian accent and a no-nonsense style. He has no time for Jack Frost's antics. The tooth fairy is sweet and her little helpers are like busy bees collecting and storing teeth in her castle "hive" to preserve all the children's memories of childhood which are preserved within. Sandman, whose power against the evil Pitch is significant, is a mute golden star who fills the heavens with twinkling ropes of golden sand like sparklers shimmering and glowing in the night sky. Jack Frost, around whom the plot revolves, wants to know who he is and longs to know his real purpose in life. Basically, he has an identity crisis. In joining the guardians, he begins to explore what he's really made of and why the Man in the Moon has chosen him.

Pitch reminded me of the androgynous demon in The Passion of the Christ. He is the bogieman of childhood and his minions are fierce black stallions that look like the ringwraiths in Lord of the Rings. He is eager to temp Jack to join him and "become somebody" creating a frozen nightmare world where every loses all hope and succumbs to fear.

The director has borrowed ideas from all over the place and put them together in such a novel way he has created something entirely new. Santa carries a snow globe that allows him to go from the North Pole at warp speed anywhere on the planet like the spaceships in Star Wars. Among Santa's elves are furry monsters (yetis) that could be related to wookies. Jack takes the children on some exciting sleigh rides dodging cars and trucks like adventure movie chase scenes and some of his creations remind me of the winter scenes in Fantasia. The entire movie is a continuous changing palette of dancing color.

I think Chesterton and Connolly would have been charmed by this movie that is so filled with the joy of life. We all came out smiling. My sister called the next day to ask what we did with my brother; he was cheerful and chatty and upbeat after a difficult Christmas season. All I can say is, "Heck if I know, but we sure had a good time as well." Take your kids and grandkids to Rise of the Guardians before it leaves theaters. I'm going again, that's for sure!

The Dishonest Media Twist Statistics for their Agenda

Interesting take on the crime statistics and the dishonest media's hand-wringing hysteria promoting gun control.

Prayer for Protection from the Flu

One of my followers sent this prayer for good health since a serious flu season is upon us. I saw a lady in Rockville, MD yesterday wearing a surgical mask, but I suspect the prayer below is better protection. And may I suggest Vitamin D3. It's a big immune booster!

Prayer for Health and Endurance

Holy Trinity, giver of life and health, protect man from diseases, plagues and un-natural death. Bless our bodies. Make them strong to endure and withstand the attacks of germs, viruses and chemicals. Free us from the effects of poisons and potions. Keep our bodies and minds pure, physically and spiritually, so that we may be worthy temples of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Using "Civility" to Silence Debate

It is, in fact, a liberal policy to accuse anyone who disagrees with a liberal position of "incivility" and intolerance. That done, the liberal follows up by calling names and demanding punishment for the perpetrator of the "incivility." Fr. William Miscamble, a professor at Notre Dame, pegged the falseness of the incivility gambit in an article in the Irish Rover last October. As an example, he used the response of some Notre Dame professors who attacked Bishop  Daniel Jenky of Peoria and demanded his ouster from the Notre Dame board of trustees after he wrote about the Obama administrations's assault on religious freedom. Here's that particular section from Fr. Miscamble's article, but I recommend you read the rest:

Another Reason I Love Chesterton...

...He always hit the bulls eye.
“It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged.”
(from his 1921 American tour to the Cleveland Press)
A related quote applies to our "unhanged" politicians  (No, I didn't say unhinged, but that is probably true as well.) who, if truth be known, are our own aristocracy.
“The real argument against aristocracy is that it always means the rule of the ignorant. For the most dangerous of all forms of ignorance is the ignorance of work.”
So now we know why Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer, and other career politicians are such ditzes! They've never worked a day in their lives (unlike mothers who are as industrious as honey bees working their hives).

Read Chesterton. He really is the Apostle of Common Sense.

Anglican Nuns Enter Catholic Church...

...and hardly anybody notices. (Hat tip to Terry Nelson at Abbey Roads.)

Anglican nuns praised for joining Catholic Church

Bill Donohue had an amusing take on the media blackout:
So why isn’t this “historic event” being publicized? Imagine the media reaction if on New Year’s Day 12 renegade Anglican nuns had held a press conference in their street clothes announcing their intent to join a dissident Catholic order so they can press for gay marriage and women priests! It would have been front-page news. And had they rented an oversized luxury bus to haul them around town, that would have been world news. But because these are humble orthodox nuns, who eschew media gimmicks, there is a news blackout.
- Catholic League
I love the Anglican use. When we were last in Houston we attended an Anglican use parish where a big home schooling community meets. The Mass was lovely and reverent and the chant beautiful. May many more of our Anglican brothers and sisters come home to Rome!

Are You Praying? It's Patriotic!

I got this email from a friend and thought it was important to spread it around. So I hope you'll do the same and join in the bishops' prayer project. Remember Lepanto!
Bishops Seek Our Help as Laity
The Catholic Church in the United States currently is facing three major cultural issues — disrespect for life from conception to natural death; succeeding attempts to change the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman; and continuing efforts to restrict religious freedom.

The bishops in America are addressing these issues through the courts, legislation and other societal means. They also are calling on the laity to join with them in a program of prayer, penance and sacrifice.

A USCCB committee headed by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone recommended a program to run concurrently with the Year of Faith, from the Feast of the Holy Family (December 30, 2012) through the Feast of Christ the King (November 24, 2013). It was approved at the last meeting of the USCCB.

Specifically, the bishops are asking all Catholics to:
1. Daily: Say the rosary for a renewal of our nation’s culture
2. Weekly: Fast and abstain from meat every Friday
3. Monthly: Attend a Eucharistic Holy Hour
4. Annually: Participate in a Fortnight of Freedom in July-August

No Wonder They Voted for Obama...

I'm a big fan of Walter Williams and this article is just one reason why.  I wonder whether there are any studies on the link between missing dads in the home and the disastrous educational outcome for students, especially minority students. Anyone know? Michelle Obama would do a lot more good if she cared more about what education kids get in the classroom rather than what they eat in the lunchroom. Most parents can't afford elite schools like Sidwell Friends.

Walter Williams: Dishonest educators
Nearly two years ago, U.S. News & World Report came out with a story titled "Educators Implicated in Atlanta Cheating Scandal." It reported that "for 10 years, hundreds of Atlanta public school teachers and principals changed answers on state tests in one of the largest cheating scandals in U.S. history." More than three-quarters of the 56 Atlanta schools investigated had cheated on the National Assessment of Educational Progress test, sometimes called the national report card. Cheating orders came from school administrators and included brazen acts such as teachers reading answers aloud during the test and erasing incorrect answers. One teacher told a colleague, "I had to give your kids, or your students, the answers because they're dumb as hell."   Read the complete article here.
