Good and Evil Face Off in Woodstock

A small portion of the Patriots in Woodstock
rallying for Charlie Kirk.
Larry and I returned today from a two day stay in Staunton. It was not a planned vacation. We had tickets for a conference on regenerative farming being hosted by the Brownstone Institute. When they sent an email saying they had a long waiting list for the event, we decided younger folks would benefit more than we would. So we gave up our tickets. But I had booked a hotel reservation already paid for that couldn't be canceled. So instead of the conference we decided to take a mini vacation in Staunton. We planned a late lunch in Salem on Thursday with our five grandkids who attend Virginia Tech followed by two nights in Staunton doing a little exploring of the area.

At the hotel, we watched a lot of the coverage on Charlie Kirk and marveled at the statement from his wife, Erika. What a testimony of faith and love! No hate, no unbridled anger, just determination to carry on Charlie's goal of "making heaven crowded."

This morning we headed home. As we exited at Woodstock we saw a large pride flag flying over the interstate and a small group of folks with resist signs and a big Epstein banner attacking Trump. A woman had a "Welcome the stranger." sign. I opened the window and asked if she welcomed the babies in the womb. I couldn't hear her answer.

But the lefties weren't the only ones there with their signs. About 50 feet farther on was a much larger crowd calling for justice for Charlie Kirk. No pride flags there, just huge American flags, young people, and families with children -- in other words, the future of the country. These were patriots celebrating the life of a man whose main message was love for spouse and family, but first of all for Jesus Christ. I opened the window again and thanked them. In my younger days I would have stopped to join them, but Larry and I were both tired and headed home.

My experience this morning emphasized the reality of life in the U.S.A. today. We live with two world views. One celebrates sodomy, the mutilation of children, assisted suicide, and abortion...and they hate God and His laws! (Remember when the Democrats at their 2012 presidential convention booed God being added to the platform?) The Left is well described as the culture of death. When they get riled up they riot, burn, loot, injure police officers and others, and even murder and assassinate. The other world view responds to crises with peaceful prayer vigils and rallies. It's the culture of faith and life. The difference between those two world views could not be more stark and more clear.

Charlie Kirk showed the way we should engage -- with the truth spoken in love. He's been accused by many brainwashed lefties of all the things they are guilty of: hatred, racism, misogyny, white privilege, fascism, you name it. Not all liberals are radical lefties, but many of them are silent in the face of evil, and silence implies consent. Silence and toleration of evil is a significant source of the crisis in the United States today.

Last April, NCRI [Network Contagion Research Institute] of Rutgers University reported on Assassination Culture: How Burning Teslas and Killing Billionaires Became a Meme Aesthetic for Political Violence. The study points out how assassination culture is an increasing threat in our society coming from the "extreme left." In brief, the study reported:

A broader “assassination culture” appears to be emerging within segments of the U.S. public on the extreme left. NCRI empirically assessed this shift with original survey data and open source intelligence analysis to assess how normalized and justified violence against the administration has become in public discourse....

The survey revealed several troubling trends. Over half of those who self-identified as left of center (56%) reported that if someone murdered Donald Trump, they would be at least somewhat justified (see Figure 1; similar proportions supported murdering Musk and destroying Tesla dealerships). Thisincludes 14.1% who said this murder would be “Completely Justified.” Similarly, half (50.2%) of those who self-identified as left of center said the murder of Elon Musk would be somewhat justified (or greater), with about 10.7% saying this is “Completely Justified” (see Figure 3). Over ⅓ of all respondents believe it is at least somewhat acceptable to destroy Tesla dealerships to protest Elon Musk’s involvement in the Presidential administration....

This report points to disturbingly high levels of support for political violence, particularly targeting President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Across survey responses, nearly one-third of respondents—and a significantly higher share of left-leaning respondents—expressed some degree of justification for acts of lethal violence.

We are increasingly seeing the war that began when the angels, led by Lucifer, said, "We will not serve." It is fundamentally a war against God with increasing attacks on churches. Think of all the politicians and media figures who ridiculed prayer after the school shooting in Minnesota that claimed the lives of two students and seriously injured many others. Former White House spokesman and MSNBC host, Jen Psaki, wrote this on X.

Conversatio

Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers does not end school shootings. prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers.
And of course, what happened next? Renewed calls for gun control. The left are seasoned Alinskyites who never let a crisis go to waste. They use children, whether those murdered in Minnesota or innocent little ones going to the library for story hour, to advance their evil agenda. They must be stopped, but not by us imitating their violence. Turning to God is our best response and prayer and fasting are our best weapons. I truly believe Charlie Kirk's assassination may be a real "turning point" in our time. Let's pray that a resurgence of faith and family sweeps across this great country.
May Jesus Christ be praised!

  2. This comment was written by someone else.......very true.

"Ugh…the constant, intense stream of psychological manipulation by news outlets seems to be ‘breaking the brains’ of even the most politically agnostic!
I am not sure what the truth is about Charlie Kirk, but it looks like the media divide-and-conquer strategy is continuing to work well, creating further splintering of social cohesion so that even traditionally minded people are turning on one another in the wake of this story. Fear, anger and hate are rising to the point where those who say they are are proudly pro-liberty and freedom of speech are actually on social media calling for gun-banning and rounding up the “Libs”! We are cracking under the strain of “news” fatigue!

And no one seems to want to hear that maybe after processing news like this, be it true or false, we should make a well thought out response, then turn to our everyday life and quit obsessing on it. Charlie Kirk was a media figure who had no real impact on 99.9% of the American people; the same percentage had never even met him. But I am told that remark is considered “unsympathetic”. I don’t believe it is."

  3. .....What a testimony of faith and love! No hate, no unbridled anger, just determination to carry on Charlie's goal of "making heaven crowded."

A Catholic who knows his faith, must marvel ...... is it possible for a Protestant make heaven crowded?
Here is just one example of St. Augustine on this point:
“In many things they are with me, in a few things not with me; but in those few things in which they are not with me the many things in which they are will not profit them’ (S. Augustinus in Psal. liv., n. 19).”

    1. There are likely no Protestants in heaven, because God gives all a chance to embrace the true faith at death. So those people of good will who die Protestant, recognize and throw off the rebellion and put on the garment of Catholicism before they enter the wedding feast. Having said that, many Protestants give a better example to the people around them than Catholics, so I have no doubt that their example can help to make heaven more crowded. God bless Charlie Kirk and may he rest in the arms of Jesus.

    2. ‘False love of neighbor’, and ‘false ecumenism’ is the reason (especially after the Second Vatican Council), for the massive exodus from the Church of Jesus Christ to every Protestant ‘sect’…….True love of neighbor is not based on sentiments, or flattery, nor based on our foolish opinion of ‘who is good’, true love of neighbor unites us only in ‘truth……saves souls’ Till today many ‘nice’ Catholics (from the top down) lead many astray ……Ave Maria!

Leo XIII makes it plain that separated members cannot belong to the same body: “So long as the member was on the body, it lived; separated, it lost its life. Thus, the man, so long as he lives on the body of the [Catholic] Church, he is a Christian; separated from her, he becomes a heretic” (Encyclical Satis cognitum of June 29, 1896).

Pius XII stated unequivocally: “To be Christian one must be Roman. One must recognize the oneness of Christ’s Church that is governed by one successor of the Prince of the Apostles who is the Bishop of Rome, Christ’s Vicar on earth” (Allocution to the Irish pilgrims of October 8, 1957).

Pope Pius IX stated: “He who abandons the Chair of Peter on which the Church is founded, is falsely persuaded that he is in the Church of Christ” (Quartus supra of January 6 1873, n. 8).

How is it possible to be clearer than this about those who can be called Christian?

The only true union possible for Catholics with Protestants is by their return to the one true Church of Christ, the Catholic Church. Only with such a return can they rightfully call themselves Christians.

.......... because God gives all a chance to embrace the true faith at death.........O really! Many die instantly, with no chance to repent, such death is breath no more......Ave Maria!
Ecclus. 5:9....."Delay not to be converted to the Lord and defer it not from day to day: for his wrath shall come on a sudden, and in the time of vengeance he will destroy thee."

  4. The Epstein Trump connection does deserve to be addressed. Abortion serves both sex trafficking and ivf, things Trump now supports.

His big beautiful birthday letter to Epstein is shameful, and Trump opposes release of the Epstein files, something Kirk wanted to have exposed even as recently as last Monday. Trump has threatened Congress GOP not to be "hostile" to his desire to keep Epstein files locked down, though pro-life Thomas Massie has been very courageous against Trump. The whole Epstein debacle is fortunately for Trump eclipsed by the notice paid to the assassination.

But the best way for Trump to honor Kirk would be to release the Epstein files.

    1. I agree. We need more transparency. It's hard to know these days whether we're getting the truth from anyone.

  5. Have you seen this: Brian Kilmeade is a Catholic. He works for Fox and is ardent Trump supporter. He is not being fired. He has apologized.

    https://x.com/ahouse4all/status/1966549930845368802

The topic led “Fox & Friends” co-host Laurence Jones to say that billions of dollars have been spent on programs to care for the homeless and mentally ill but many of those afflicted resist help.

“A lot of them don’t want to take the programs,” Jones said. “A lot of them don’t want to get the help that is necessary. You can’t give them the choice. Either you take the resources that we’re going to give you, or you decide that you’ve got to be locked up in jail.”

Kilmeade added: “Or involuntary lethal injection or something — just kill ‘em.”

A clip of Kilmeade’s remarks started to circulate widely on X on Saturday.

“I apologize for that extremely callous remark,” Kilmeade said during Sunday’s edition of the morning program. “I am obviously aware that not all mentally ill, homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion.”
