Nabi Sayeth: Absurdity of Absurdities, All is Absurdity!

Absurdity of absurdities: Does wreckovating churches and reducing  the number of pews increase the flock filling them?

Nabi loveth the Book of Ecclesiastes, especially the oft repeated line: “Vanities of Vanities…” The Hebrew word behind the English “Vanities” is “Hebel” or “vapor…. a puff of wind.”

Nabi Sayeth: A Soul is a Terrible Thing to Waste!

Nabi Sayeth: Many years ago the American Negro College Fund publicized the fund’s motto widely: “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” How true! But Nabi sayeth that this motto while important falls short of what could easily be the motto of Catholic schools: “A soul would be a terrible thing to waste.”

This leads to a most important question:

Topsy and Tuptim Discuss Stuff Off the Cuff (Chapter 7 of Amoris Laetitia)

The pope, thinking Topsy and Tuptim are eco-fascists
Topsy and Tuptim meet at the playground with their grandchildren for a play date. They sit on a bench drinking coffee and watching the youngsters climb the ladders of the “castle” and slide down the chutes while they discuss the study session on Chapter Seven.

Topsy: Aren’t the children sweet. We're so blessed in our grandchildren. (Calling to a child at the top of the slide)...Be careful, Max! Wait for Bianca to get off.

Tuptim: We sure are. When I’m tempted to give up on the world I make a play date with the kids. (Laughing)...There’s nothing like getting down and dirty with a three-year-old to give you a fresh perspective.

Religious of the Sacred Heart of Florence

A friend of mine has a daughter who joined an Italian religious order called the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Florence. They were founded by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat in 1800 as contemplative cloistered order consecrated to the Heart of Jesus and dedicated to the education of youth. Today they are educating Italian youth and offer a real hope for the future. Here's a wonderful summary of what's happening there:

Saving Souls in Italy: With Help the Italians are Returning to Catholicism
A new appreciation for children is awakening in Italy. For the past several decades the Italian birth rate has been one of the lowest in Europe and well below the replacement rate. But the pendulum may be swinging back.
News comes to us from the Institute of the Sacred Heart of Florence, operated by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Florence, that their school enrollment is once again on the upswing. In fact the increase has been so dramatic that they are in need of help.

Pope Francis and the Jesuits

Will Pope Francis rein in the Jesuits?

Interesting question considering he's one of them. And he's a little hard for them to go after because of his simple and humble lifestyle. But wouldn't it be great to see the new pope go after the horrible scandals at Jesuit schools: performances of the V-Monologues, sponsoring pro-abortion internships, queer film fests, etc. ad nauseum. So...will Pope Francis be able to reform his order and challenge them to renew Catholic education? It would be a tall order, but one for which we can pray.

Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us!
