Some Are More Equal Than Others: Obama's buddies get waivers from health care regs!

You really, really thought Obama wanted a massive health plan to provide for all the poor little guys without insurance? The joke's on you. His plan is sooooooo great that lots of people want waivers from its regulations and if you happen to be an Obama buddy you just might get one. As of now about 733 special folks are exempt including Obama's old supporters at the SEIU. You know, the union thugs who turned up at numerous town hall meetings to keep the hoi poloi in line. Check it out here. Obama is paying them back now.



But if Obamacare is so great (as the Democrats keep telling us), why would anyone want a waiver? Could it be the 2000 page bill really is as bad as its critics say? And if it's so great maybe, just maybe Congress should prohibit exemptions from its regulations. After all, if Obamacare is good enough for the great unwashed - that's us (Harry Reid's stinky American tourists), it should be good enough for Obama's buddies.

Wonk Believes Constitution is Confusing. Has He Read the Health Care Bill?

The video below is making the rounds among conservatives who are getting a good laugh from it. The discussion is about the intent by the upcoming new Congress to read the Constitution on the floor of the House when they convene this week. The silly commentator from the Washington Post (surprise!) just made me laugh. The Constitution is confusing? It is clear as glass compared to legislation that came out of the 111th Congress especially the 2000 pages of the Health Care Monstrosity. The Constitution, in comparison, is about a dozen pages. Now here's Article 1, section 1 (in toto) of this "confusing" document. "All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives." Are you confused yet?

Now let's take a look at the health care bill. I took a random paragraph from page 909.

IN GENERAL.—Effective on January 1, 2011, subject to paragraph (2), the provisions of this section shall preempt any law or regulation of a State or of a political subdivision of a State that requires an applicable manufacturer and applicable distributor (as such terms are defined in subsection (f)) to disclose or report, in any format, the type of information (described in subsection (a)) regarding a payment or other transfer of value provided by the manufacturer to a covered recipient (as so defined).

Uh...that's clear, right? As mud? But read the two documents for yourself. I'd start with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights myself. It may take you a few hours if you ponder over the "confusing" passages. Then you can spend the rest of 2011 reading the health care bill and scratching your head. If you're interested in reading the part about taxing those who don't get health insurance (which is the item being fought as unconstitutional by a number of states including Virginia) go to page 296.

The Devil's in the Details of the Health Care Bill

Now that Obama, Nancy, Harry, et al got the socialized medicine bill through, more facts about its costs are coming out. CBO Director Doug Elmendorf says:

In CBO’s judgment, the health legislation enacted earlier this year does not substantially diminish that pressure [on health costs]. In fact, CBO estimated that the health legislation will increase the federal budgetary commitment to health care (which CBO defines as the sum of net federal outlays for health programs and tax preferences for health care) by nearly $400 billion during the 2010-2019 period. But what's a few hundred billion among friends and a cool $1.5 trillion anticipated over the next 20 years. After all, it's coming out of Obama's stash right?

One problem for the administration -- 60% of the American people oppose the health care bill and want it repealed. Keep praying for a big change in November that unseats Nancy (even if her San Francisco socialist district sends her back) and brings a lot of fresh-faced small government patriots to Washington. How about Mass, the rosary, and a Friday sacrifice each week for that intention! Our salvation is not in politics, but the Lord uses leaders to chastise and we've sure been getting a lot of that lately. Pray for a Cyrus to help rebuild the nation.
