How Do You Like Living the Chinese Curse in the Church?

The Chinese curse wishes you to live in "interesting times." Well, we certainly can see that these days in the Catholic Church, interesting in a horrifying way like a Stephen King novel. The pope is getting ready to excommunicate the SSPX and the latest rumor is that all the priests of the Society and the laity will be excommunicated as well. Wow! Can that be true?

About 40 years ago a bishop in Hawaii excommunicated several lay members over the TLM and they appealed to Rome and won. How times have changed, eh? They probably would get the cricket treatment today and the excommunication would be allowed to stand. They likely would be accused of "breaking the unity of the Church." Really, folks, do you want to be in unity with a lot of what goes on in the conciliar, synodal church these days? I sure don't!

If the rumor materializes it will illustrate the Vatican's increasingly draconian treatment of traditional Catholics who simply love the Church and pray for her leaders' return to sanity. You can recognize a tyranny by the chaos of its rule and we certainly see that everywhere in the poor, battered bride of Christ:

  • Sodomy, a sin that cries to heaven for vengeance, is celebrated.
  • An admitted sex abuser missionary, Msgr. Alejandro Labaka, is named Venerable, the first step to canonization.
  • Catholic doctrine on capitol punishment is deep-sixed.
  • The Chinese government is permitted to select bishops while the faithful, underground bishops are betrayed.
  • Climate change and other woke issues that correspond to Agenda 30 are championed at the Vatican.
  • A pornographer runs the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.
  • Almighty God is displaced by the reign of mankind in the latest encyclical on AI.
  • All religions lead to God including paganism, except for Catholicism practiced by the SSPX and others who adhere to 2000 years of apostolic tradition.
  • The synodal project is becoming more and more heretical, especially in Germany, not to mention irrelevant. The synodal participants rearrange the chairs on the Titanic while it's sinking.
Sadly, I could go on and on and on, but you get the picture.

Consider this. All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and serve according to His purpose. Believing that, we do God an injustice if we stress out and wring our hands over all this. Somehow, it is serving His purpose and He will bring good out of it. How much more awake are you about the situation? Have you increased your prayer and sacrifice for the pope, the magisterium, and your local parish priest? Jesus Christ will never abandon His Church. He is the head and those who betray their duties will be held accountable.

Reading the Catechism of the Council of Trent this morning, I reflected on the seventh commandment about those who "neglect, or but indifferently perform their duties." The quote did not specifically address clerics, but what is the worst possible theft? Isn't it robbing souls of the means of salvation? Not only are those guilty of theft and negligence accountable, but also those who consent to the theft or remain silent about it.

So what is my duty about the situation in the Church? What is yours? In this month of the Sacred Heart let us reflect and meditate on our responsibilities to Jesus Christ? What are we called to do? Pray and sacrifice always come first, but do we have any other responsibilities as well? Are there people in our lives, those we love and who know we love them, who need our warning? Let us not be hasty or imprudent in anything, but let us seek the Lord and His will.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.
