January 6 Revisited to Respond to a Rant from a Troll

I don't normally post attacks I get from trolls. They usually go straight into the trash bin. The woman who wrote the one I'm going to discuss in this post has stalked my blog for years. Like a moth to a flame, she can't seem to stay away. I can't think of one time she has had anything charitable to say. I certainly didn't get any comment from her after discussing my husband's stroke. Maybe she didn't read that one. Her hate is almost palpable. She used to post on a blog of her own which is pretty much defunct. In fact, she used that platform to attack me by name. Her message is boringly repetitive:
  • I'm not Catholic.
  • I'm going to hell.
  • I'm a liar and a hypocrite.
And other charitable judgments like those. I tried to engage with her in the beginning but it was pointless. Now I generally just say a prayer for her and press delete.

However, I decided to post her latest comment with my own commentary, and I hope you will join me in praying for her. But I wanted to answer some of the statements here in case others are confused about what really happened on January 6th. How many have swallowed whole the media's biased story that an out-of-control riot was an insurrection. It wasn't. It never was. Most of those in the crowd did nothing illegal. They are patriots who love the country and got swept up in a group that turned into a mob. I know some of those who were there that day. Families were there with children. Do you really think those people intended to put their kids in harms way? Many in the crowd tried to stop those engaging in acts of vandalism. I've watched countless videos and heard them calling on rabble rousers to stop.

But let's get on with it. The troll's comments are in red.
You lied in your prior post about Gold when you said she had a permit to enter the Capitol, and now not only do you not retract your lies, you double down.

I never said Gold had a permit to "enter the Capitol." The organizers had a permit for presentations on the East side with an outside stage and sound system set up. When the speakers arrived they were not allowed to exercise the permit.

Gold broke the law, as did hundreds of others.

Yes, some of the protestors broke the law. Gold did not and my troll gives no evidence that she did, just her statement. I have been into the Capitol dozens of times. The door was opened. Who opened it? Gold says she was swept inside by the volume of the crowd. The video of the rotunda shows people milling about peacefully. (You can see it in the video of the interview with Jordan Peterson that I posted this morning.) Gold walked around the rotunda and then decided to give the speech that was meant to be on the stage outside. She repeated it several times. When she was asked to leave by Capitol police, she did. So what exactly did she do that was illegal? Nothing! And then the FBI came beating down her door. That's what Democrat controlled thugs do.

Hundreds of police were injured with some injured so badly they had to retire, there were several deaths, the Capitol was vandalized including the spreading of feces, politicians' offices were trashed, they put up a gallows and threatened to hang the vice president, and they came close to a complete insurrection.

Some of this is nonsense. Yes there was an out-of-control protest on the West side of the Capitol. Anyone who's ever been to the Capitol knows you can't see the West side from the East side. Watching the videos of the people on the East side shows the same kind of crowd inside the Capitol most days acting like sightseers. And what my friendly troll fails to tell is that the crowd was infiltrated by almost 300 federal agents in plain clothes. What were they doing? The facts are in dispute. Were they in the crowd before the breach or after? The FBI claims they were not instigating anything. Can they be trusted? Remember it was the FBI that investigated traditional Catholics as violent extremists. Do you trust their version of events?

The media coverage of January 6 by the biased media has been extremely one-sided. Compare it to that of the riots all over the country after George Floyd's death which were treated sympathetically. On the other hand, reviewing the coverage of January 6 shows a media intent on demonizing everyone involved.

Yes, there were acts of vandalism at the Capitol on January 6th and many in the crowd deplored them and tried to stop it. But the only deaths on January 6 were Trump supporters. Unarmed vet, Ashli Babbit was murdered by a Capitol police officer, Michael Byrd. Internal documents indicate there was no good reason to shoot the unarmed woman and the family later received an almost $5 million dollar settlement for her wrongful death. [Source] The other woman who died that day was Rosanne Boyland who was in the tunnel and was beaten to death with a baton by officer Lila Morris after she collapsed and was unconscious. The video of the event is shocking. And, like the officer who killed Babbit, there were no consequences and in fact the officers were praised despite using excessive force.

With regard to the Capitol police officer, Brian Sicknick, who died the next day, the media rushed to judgment advancing a lie that he was struck by a protestor with a fire extinguisher. Sicknick actually died of natural causes, a stroke. Several officers died later from suicide and the media attributed that to January 6. It's a logical fallacy to say that something that came after another event was caused by it. We'll never know why those men killed themselves. My brother was a Baltimore County police officer for thirty years. Law enforcement is extremely stressful and who knows what other stressers were affecting those officers: financial problems, marital discord, etc. To attribute it to January 6 is a stretch.

Keep in mind that Trump wanted to call out the national guard that day. Four days earlier, the Pentagon offered the troops. The Democrats refused. [Source] D.C. mayor, Marian Bowser, and House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, bear a large responsibility for what happened on January 6th because they had the obligation to request the guard and did not. And frankly I believe they wanted a riot. It served their Trump Derangement agenda. We will probably never get a true picture of the event because the reporting was biased from start to finish. Add to that the disgraceful and biased Congressional hearings.

Sadly many Americans, like my troll, swallow whatever they are fed by the biased media and call anyone who disagrees or thinks more critically a liar. There are plenty of liars out there and many of them are Democrats and reporters for the liberal press.

And here's the troll's final gotcha.

And you yet defend them and whine about how mistreated they were. Your entire blog is a lie starting with the title. Any truth posted here is tainted and poisoned with lies, and it is a blatant anti-Catholic blog, not even close to a "Catholic point of view". Is this really the legacy you want to leave behind?

Well, readers, I leave it to you. No one has to read my blog who thinks I'm a liar. I wouldn't read a blog of someone I considered a liar. I can certainly make mistakes, but I try to research what I write and present my opinions with well-founded reasons for them. You can always disagree and I happily post comments from anyone who argues in the classical sense. I especially enjoy those who follow the Socratic method. Society benefits when people learn to be critical thinkers and argue with respect. Unfortunately my troll isn't one of those. Please pray for her as I do. And please pray for me.
