My son and his family don't want to visit us these days because they worry about giving us the coronavirus. So even though they live only an hour away, we've only seen them once since Christmas and not at all since the pandemic of panic set in. 

Hide Under the Bed; It's a National Emergency!

Are you sufficiently hysterical about the swine flu? Running around wringing your hands and hyperventilating? No! Well, why not? Didn't you hear someone coughing in church this morning? Swine flu! Didn't you hear anyone sneeze, blow his nose, snort, clear his throat?....swine flu!

Really, it's epidemic...No, make that pandemic....I mean titanic...and also very serious. The president said so. He declared a national emergency.

The question is what does that mean? In a "national emergency" what new powers are given to what groups? At present it seems to mean little more than allowing hospitals to facilitate removing patients to alternate facilities and lifting some of the privacy restrictions under HIPAA rules. But we all know how creative this President is at finding unenumerated powers in the executive branch. Maybe there will be a swine flu czar.

Is there, in fact, a swine flu pandemic? Who knows? Few doctors are testing. That doesn't keep these "scientists" from making a firm diagnosis though. I have run into more folks lately who went to the doctor and were told they have the "swine flu." Were they tested? NO! So what got them designated as carriers of the plague? They had a fever over 101 degrees, had aches and chills, a cough, and perhaps nausea. Hmmm...sounds like every viral infection I've had in the past ten years. So were they all swine flu? Or were none of them swine flu? Who knows? But it sure helps build up the numbers to claim a national emergency if you designate every viral illness from the common cold to the worst achy fever crud as swine flu.

And even though doctors aren't testing for it and are presuming everyone who gets sick has it, they still want you to get the vaccine for it because what you had probably wasn't the swine flu after all. Does this sound a little nutty? It does to me, but it sure makes for drama. Now is it tragedy or comedy?

According to medical critics, the swine flu vaccines being prepared by the millions of doses are poorly tested, contain dangerous ingredients, and are likely to be ineffective. Add to that the fact that that the flu strain so far has proven milder than the normal variety, which leads one to ask -- Why? Why all the scare-mongering and hype over the swine flu when it's less severe and shorter?

I don't think I want to be a guinea pig for the CDC and the drug companies. You can boost your immune system by improving your diet, getting plenty of sunshine and exercise, and taking vitamin D. Before you take the shot, do the research and make an informed decision.

Read these two articles for some eye-opening data about the swine flu vaccine. The two pharmaceutical firms fast-tracking the vaccines have some serious background problems particularly Baxter. Here's what Dr. Blaylock says about one of the ingredients (particularly squalene) in the vaccine. "What is terrifying is that these pandemic vaccines contain ingredients, called immune adjuvants that a number of studies have shown cause devastating autoimmune disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and lupus." I'm not big on taking flu shots, but if I were, I sure would want to have a moral alternative. Many vaccines today are made from stem lines of aborted babies. Ask your doctor the next time you get a vaccine, "What's its origin?" If it comes from aborted babies is there another option?

My friend Debi Vinnedge just sent out this press release about a moral alternative available for the swine flu. I'm not recommending getting it, just alerting folks that there is at least one option on the market that isn't made by cannibalizing little babies.

New Swine Flu Vaccine Produced in Moral Cell Culture

(Murfreesboro, TN) Children of God for Life announced today that a new swine flu vaccine produced by Swiss-based pharmaceutical giant, Novartis, is made using ethical cell lines. The vaccine, which was hailed last week by the Associated Press as the first to be produced in cell culture rather than the traditional chick embryo method, uses MDCK (Madin-Darby Canine Kidney) cells.

Novartis said that over 30 countries have requested their vaccine supply, including the US Department of HHS who placed a $289 million dollar order with the company last month.

“This is great news for families worldwide,” stated Debi Vinnedge, Children of God for Life’s Executive Director. “Other companies such as Sanofi Pasteur and Medimmune are using aborted fetal cell line PER C6 as their cell culture. Concerned families who may not have otherwise used the swine flu vaccine will now have a moral choice!”

While chick embryo is still an option for manufacturing, cell culture is more desirable since it would speed production time for the vaccines considerably. The news release by Novartis last week came only days after the World Health Organization had declared a swine flu pandemic.

Vinnedge noted that there are other companies not far behind Novartis that are also using moral sources for their cell cultures. Novavax is using insect cell lines, Baxter is using Vero cell lines and Protein Science is using caterpillar cell lines.

“There is simply no reason to use aborted fetal cell lines,” Vinnedge noted. “We are deeply grateful that Novartis technology is the frontrunner!”

“And it’s high time that some of these other pharmaceutical companies start listening to the public demand,” she added.

Headlines on the Flu and Flu Vaccines

Are you afraid of the swine flu? Keep it in perspective. Three thousand people die every day from malaria. Three hundred thousand die every year from run of the mill flu viruses, mostly the elderly and those with chronic respiratory illnesses and compromised immune systems. Keep your head, follow good hygiene practices, and stay home when you have cold and flu symptoms so you don't pass around whatever ails you. But don't get into a panic. Most of the people who died during the 1918 influenza pandemic did not die from the flu but from strep infections which could not be effectively treated because antibiotics had not been developed.

So don't panic. Be informed and live every day as if it's your last. You have more chance of dying driving within ten miles of your own house than dying from the swine flu.
