Eric Sammons Gives a Balanced View of What We're Seeing in Ukraine! "Be Willing to Question the Dominant Narrative!"

Note his commentary that if you say anything against the "dominant narrative" you get attacked with vicious rhetoric. It happened with COVID and it's happening now with the war in the Ukraine. If you dare to challenge "any point of the narrative" you "must be on the other side." you must be in Putin's pocket. You can be 100% against the invasion, it doesn't matter. If you dare to deviate 1% from the dominant narrative, you're evil.

Sammons makes a salient point that the dominant narrative is what the ruling class uses to gain power! Absolutely! The virtue signaling and hatred against Russia right now is not Christian and not virtuous. And it's coming from people in many cases who couldn't care less about the people in either country. The sanctification of Zelensky and demonization of Putin is not helpful. Putin is not Russia. Many of the Russian people are against the war. And yet Russia is being collectively condemned. Russia is evil. Let's nuke 'em! The hawks in Congress are playing with fire that may light the fuse for nuclear war.

Escalating the war is insane. The same people who claimed being opposed to the lockdowns means you wanted to kill people are saying the same thing about those who refuse to embrace the mainstream media and liberal politicians' position on Ukraine. We want to kill the innocent people of Ukraine.

"You don't care if people die!" I got that from silly young adults in my own parish about masking. I tried to hold a civil dialogue with them, but they were clearly on Fauci's team. Some things never change. I'm getting it again now about my position on the war. We need to stay out of it!

Demonizing the other side accomplishes nothing, but brings us closer to the brink of World War III. People who hate each other do not negotiate! And negotiation is the way to end the war!

Sammons is a voice of reason. Unfortunately many people have put their reason on stop while they vent their emotions. "Omigosh, we've got to DO something to stop that devil Putin. Initiate a no-fly zone and shoot down Russian planes! Bomb Moscow! Anything. Just do it!" Gosh that makes them feel good and oh-so-virtuous. Just treat anyone with whom you disagree as evil. The liberals on The View want to send us to the Gulag for treason if we deviate from their narrative.

Our government should be de-escalating this situation, not pouring gasoline on the fire! Under just war theory we have no obligation to fight this war. Help the suffering Ukrainians; but stay out of it except to encourage negotiations for peace.

"The ultimate goal is to avoid World War III ....Have cooler heads prevail." If we make it a hot war through our military involvement it can very quickly go nuclear. Is that what all the hate-Putin (and every Russian on the planet) people want? I hope not. As Sammons ends he gives a piece of advice we all should follow, "Pray and fast for peace."

  1. Many truths here. I do think one part of the problem *is* that there was never a Nuremberg trial for communism in 1989. Russias communist errors did indeed continue to spread because they were not identified and nipped in the bud, so now we have the Russia China axis with its silk road belt and road trailers dropping round the whole world spreading communism. And Vlad was kgb without any apparent apology and is now a best friend with Klaus Schwab... Therefore his words can't really be trusted however pro family they may seem (they could simply be kgb or Schwab sculpted hot air)

Similarly zelensky is also a Schwab protege, bff with Trudeau btw. He is not a friend of the family judging by his lewd videos. I sympathize greatly with the Ukrainians. They have been genocidally starved by the Soviet holodomor ( to the point of cannibalism), occupied and brutalized by the Nazis, psyopped by one Schwab follower, then bombed by another in apparent Kabuki theater. While made to host a bio weapons lab by USA across the world. Not an enviable history.

However, as sammons says, this is not a just war for us participation. I would say chiefly because a just war must have reasonable chance of success and our unfortunate lot is to have a demented president who none can bear to admit was probably not elected by the will of the people (but which thesis was not handled well by the former president). But basically, and Afghanistan proved this, Biden is not capable of leading a raid on a bees nest, let alone Russia Ukraine.

We must admit it our own country has been operating on remote control, which is no time to enter war. The election system must be fixed and I'm afraid djt ("it will be wild!") ("Warp speed") must be jettisoned along with the current puppet, bringing a stronger possibility of national reunification.

  2. For the record I never really had a problem with Putin, and Zelensky is by far no saint. However we have a new victim in all this. Archbishop Vigano as he dared to take the side of Putin in the conflict. This reminds me of he passion where on palm Sunday the crowd is laying a trail of palm branches in font of Christ as he enters the city. Only a week later its probably the same crowd screaming crucify him. So is the fate with Vigano. In a blog called the "Catholic thing" is an editiorial by a guy named George Weigel of the Denver Catholic. He says, "By allowing lies, calumnies, and Kremlin propaganda to be issued in his name, Archbishop Carlo-Maria ViganĂ³ has written the obituary for what remained of his once-considerable religious and moral authority." Gag me with a spoon George! To me that article is a great example of a lynch mob and illustrates exactly I think what your piece is trying to say. You can have an opinion as long as it does not disagree with the narrative. They did it with covid and they are doing it with this.

  3. George Weigel is a neocon warmonger. During the 2016 campaign he attacked Trump as only an elitist, arrogant, snob can do calling him a vulgar oaf and other nasty epithets. I was shocked to see Robert George join him in the pile on. These academics with their noses in the air often look down on the "ignorant masses" who are sooooo far below them in worth. I'd rather go to lunch with the nice young clerk who helped me find something in Walmart last night than spend one minute in the company of George Weigel. and other snobs of his ilk.

  4. Shades of Billy Krystal and his attacks on Trump. I think he even wound up supporting Biden didn't he. You have pointed out the definite problem here. The ivory tower intellectuals have no concept of the average person and what he goes thru. It was like Krystal's attacks on Trump. Trump got the job done but it was not up to the puerile standards of Krystal's perfect conservatism. You can do me a favor Mary. I just redid my rss news feeds page. I am striving to only have feeds for real traditional Catholicism and meat and potatoes conservatism. I think after the cesspool coming out of Weigle's mouth I will weed out "The Catholic Thing". Please look thru and let me know what you would suggest I give the ax to as well. https://tridentinecatholic.com/wp/ On having lunch with Weigel. I might go if he picked up the tab, but people like him usually develop short arms when the check arrives.
