Maike Hickson Resigns from LifeSite News: Who's Next?

I've known Maike Hickson for years. She's been a huge grace to LifeSite News with her interviews and her excellent articles. That she has chosen to resign in solidarity with John-Henry Westen is a significant blow to the organization in my opinion. Her action also highlights the loss of credibility surrounding the announcement and the subsequent spin by Jalsevac about the reasons.

Really, friends, it had nothing to do with readership and donations. In fact, LifeSite appears to be hemorrhaging donors now, so much so that they are in damage control mode. Here's the letter they're sending out to cancelling donors:

Pray for those in Catholic media. Sad to say, being a Catholic doesn't guarantee integrity or honesty. Just like being the high priest of Israel didn't guarantee integrity or honesty. There are plenty of whited sepulchers in the pew wearing their faith on their sleeves while they undermine the truth and bolster the work of the enemy. Many Catholic politicians illustrate that in spades!

Keep the faith and pray for the Church.

  1. Precost running a coup on lifesitenews. How's that for immediate universal jurisdiction! A pope who knows how to wield the tyrannical power of the papacy against Catholic institutions! Brings a tear to my eye. Its like the 1t00s are back.

  2. Absolutely disgraceful what they did, and how they handleded it, the weekend before his son’s wedding to boot.

  3. LifeSite would provide a meaningful lesson in humility if they admitted a mea culpa publicly, apologized to John Henry, Stephen Kokx and the supporters and readers, and asked them to please come back. This was poorly done, but its never too late to show real humilty and try to repair this. If they wait, it might cement hard feelings and be irreparable. It may already be, i dont know, but this whole thing is a debacle. What a mistake.
