Do we listen to Our Lady and take her warnings seriously?

[Note: at about the 6 minute mark, Fr. makes a verbal slip when he misquotes Our Lady's words saying "more souls go to heaven for sins of the flesh than any other reason." Of course, he meant go to hell.]

None of us should be surprised at the crisis we face both in the state and the Church. We have brought it on ourselves by our sinfulness, laziness, and tepidity. I think of myself and all the time I waste on frivolous things, how little time I spend in prayer and sacrifice. What's wrong with the world? I am.

I have mixed feelings about Fr. Ripperger, but in this video he mostly repeats the words and warnings of the Blessed mother: at Quito, at Fatima, at Akita, at La Salette. We all need to listen to her. How many Catholics take seriously her prescription for peace given at Fatima? How many Catholics pray the rosary every day? How many do any penance, even small acts like giving up some preferred food for something less preferred? Or even delaying a meal 30 minutes when we're hungry?

Mary's message at Quito addressed the situation in Ecuador, but it applies to us as well. She warned that innocence in children would almost disappear. Don't we see that today? Scandalizing children is epidemic in our schools and libraries with diversity bookbags for Kindergartners and Heather has two daddies in the school library along with pornographic books for older children.

At Akita Mary said, "The Church will be full of those who accept compromise." Doesn't the fight over "Trad Inc." that I talked about the other day illustrate that? Hasn't love of money bought the silence of our Catholic bishops so they can continue the Fed's gravy train? Don't many Catholic talking heads avoid confrontation with the bishops and avoid warning about false teaching from Rome because they want a seat at the table?

Our Lady of LaSalette

At LaSalette Mary said, "The Church will witness a frightful crisis." Aren't we there?

And yet, we have to avoid fear and discouragement. When Jesus seems to be sleeping in the boat, we need to confirm our confidence in Him and realize that God brings good out of every situation. Not just good situations but the bad as well. I memorized a short section in Book IV of the Imitation of Christ which contains this passage:

Lord, I offer You all my sins and offenses, committed before You and our holy Angels, from the day I was first able to sin until now. Placing them upon Your altar of reconciliation, I implore You to burn and consume them in the fire of your love.

Wipe clean from the slate of my conscience every stain of sin and every fault; and restore to me Your grace, which I have lost through sin, granting me full pardon of all, and in Your mercy receiving me with the kiss of peace.

Those who have committed many serious sins and have repented and been forgiven those sins are likely to love to the degree they have been forgiven. Jesus Himself told us that when He spoke of Mary Magdalene and told the parable of the forgiven debtors. What a reminder and encouragement to never fall into discouragement and depression.

Father concludes, reminding his listeners that, "This is an unprecedented time to become holy.... If you're completely faithful to grace your odds of becoming a saint are there, they're real....Don't be unfaithful to grace." Amen to that. Let us pray every day for the grace to persevere in prayer and seek a closer and closer union to Jesus.

May Jesus Christ be praised, now and forever!

Mary, Mother of the Saviour, pray for us.

  2. Well put. Your blog is going to grow more important as catholics blogs and pundits leave catholicism for Synodal Church.
