OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR ABIGAIL SPANBERGER
Dear Governor Spanberger,
Congratulations on winning the election making you our state's governor for the next four years. What a privilege that is, but even more a grave responsibility. You are the chief authority now in Virginia, and have a moral duty to exercise that authority well.
All authority comes from God and those He allows to govern are subject to Him. You have been given your authority to bless the people of our state and to advance the common good. What a tremendous opportunity if you choose to advance good rather than evil. If you fail to do that, your time in office will not be a blessing for us. Even less will it be a blessing for you.
In fact, if you follow the liberal agenda you've outlined so far, especially promoting the murder of babies in the womb up until birth and abandoning our girls to harassment and victimization by men who pretend to be women, you will call down the curse upon yourself, your administration, and our state.
See, I am placing before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I am commanding you today; 28 and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, [w] by following other gods. [Deuteronomy 11:26-28]
God is not mocked. He chastised the chosen people over and over again when they rebelled. Do you think you and those who support these monstrous evils will be spared? No and the innocent always suffer with the guilty. All of the residents of Virginia will suffer because of your actions. Is it just a coincidence that we face a severe winter storm only a week after your inauguration?
The text of the Virginia Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment is so broad it will allow the murder of babies the very day of birth for any reason or no reason. Your support for that bill makes you the spiritual twin of the Pharaoh in Egypt who told the midwives to murder every little jewish boy born to the Israelites. It also aligns you with Herod who ordered the murder of the holy innocents to protect his power. But the numbers being murdered in Virginia dwarf the killing of those evil tyrants. Virginia had the largest jump in abortion in 2024 of any state in the country, almost 39,000 reported, but likely more because of loose reporting requirements. Virginia is becoming an abortion capitol drawing many from out of state. We are dripping in the blood of the innocents.
I have fought for the right to life of little ones in the womb my entire adult life. My husband and I provided a shelter home for a dozen women over the years and I worked at pregnancy support centers that offered alternatives to abortion and practical help for years after a child's birth. I kept in contact for years with several clients and actually attended the wedding of little muslim baby's older sister when she was five years old.
Times have certainly changed since liberals swore they wanted abortion to be "safe, legal, and rare." Now they promote abortion through the entire pregnancy and bills are being introduced around the country to allow infanticide. As pro-lifers predicted 40 years ago after Roe v. Wade, the value of life would continue to deteriorate putting not only the unborn at risk, but the sick, incapacitated and elderly. Abortion "clinics" have been joined by "death clinics" where not only those choosing death die, but those who have death chosen for them.
The abortion procedure has also changed. It's no longer a "decision between a woman and her doctor." In many cases no doctor is involved at all. The abortion pill has become the modern bloody coat hanger where women deliver alone in the bathroom unsupervised and sometimes bleed to death or die later of sepsis due to incomplete abortions. The FDA reports that the complications from the abortion pill are climbing. One in ten women experience a serious adverse event after taking the pills. Abortion may be legal but it is anything but safe.
As for being rare, millions of American babies die from abortion every year and their mothers are scarred for life. Many mothers, although initially relieved, experience regret and trauma that affects them for years and even decades. Those who turn to Christ for forgiveness find healing. Many others turn to drugs and alcohol to smother their guilt and regret, and the rate of suicide or attempted suicide in aborted women is 2 to 6 times within the year compared to women who carry to term.
Governor Spanberger, you are a mother. Your lovely daughter held your grandmother's bible as you took the oath of office. You were only there on that podium because your grandmother carried a child who was allowed to be born who became your parent. You too were allowed to be born and then carried your own children to term. Can you look at your daughter and say, "I had the right to kill you before you were born?" Do you really think your mother had the right to kill you before birth? If your daughter becomes pregnant before marriage will you urge her to kill your grandchild? And what kind of hypocrisy is it to swear on the bible that includes the commandment, "Thou shalt not kill?"
I will be praying for you every day during the next four years, praying that you have a change of heart and recognize the value of every human life from conception until natural death. That, Madame Governor, is your responsibility. If you fail in that, all the bills relating to medical care, education, finances, housing, etc. mean nothing. A person can't benefit from any of them if he is murdered in the womb.
Please choose life for all the people of Virginia including the littlest ones who are so special to Jesus Christ who said:
"Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs;” [Matthew 19:14] and "Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."
Please defend the littlest ones among us. You were once one of them.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Kreitzer
Woodstock, VA
