State by State Breakdown of Coronavirus -- As of March 13

Explain to me again why everyone is in panic mode? Wash your hands, avoid mass transit, stay home if you are sick and if you are in the vulnerable category limit outings. Is there really any reason to spin around like a whirling dervish? Since October the CDC reports that the flu may have killed as many as 30,000 in the U.S. Put the coronavirus in perspective. Globally, from a population of over 7 billion, these are the statistics as of today:

Coronavirus Cases:

155,792

Deaths:

5,814

Recovered:

  1. Maryanne,
You cannot compare this to the Flu.
Drs and scientists are saying this is the most contagious disease they have ever seen.
Italy has no more free beds and no more respirators. The hospital system is collapsing here.
Italy has more beds and more healthcare employees per capita than the USA. They are failing and having to choose between patients to treat. Younger people and those with no comorbidity get preference.
I feel horrible to think my 66 yr old nephew with multiple myeloma in a Clinical study might be rejected into a hospital and have no respirator if he gets Covid19.
