Remember Dorothy at the end of the Wizard of Oz:
We don't need to go far from home to find incredible beauty with ample reason to praise God. If you can't find God in your home, your yard, and your neighborhood, you probably won't find Him anywhere.
I like to imagine going off on adventures. Viking and American cruise lines frequently send me ads. They're the small ship cruise lines and the thought of cruising with 100-200 passengers appeals to me where the 5,000 person cruise ships do not. American has an abundance of river cruises here in the U.S. and the thought of going on one is pleasant. But the reality is that I'm more of home body than a traveler. We used to camp in the fall and go off for a planned month or six weeks, but we always cut our trip short because home was calling. As Dorothy says, "There's no place like home!
I walked around the yard this morning rejoicing in the beauty all around me. That was after I inspected our beehives through my spotting scope and watched all the girls flying out to be busy gathering nectar and pollen. What a glorious sight!
My prescription for joy is to walk outside every day and find something beautiful to enjoy. Maybe it's the tiniest flowers on the chickweed or a field of dandelions or snowdrops. How can we not rejoice seeing all the evidence of God's love for us? I can't! What a thrill to see the glorious flowers and a nest filled with chickadee eggs. This is what brought joy to my heart today and one photo for humor.
There's no place like home!
