Building the Faith in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia

Our SSPX community in Linden, VA recently started a website that is now online. I invite and encourage you to visit virtually and then join us for Sunday Mass if you live in the area or are visiting. If you've never been to a Traditional Latin Mass it will no doubt seem a little uncomfortable at first. What's going on? Why is the priest doing that? Where am I in the book?

Even for myself, who grew up with the Latin Mass, returning after fifty years, it took some getting reaclimated to be fully confident that I knew what I was doing. But you know what? It didn't really matter. Can a pre-schooler understand that God is coming down on the altar, that Jesus is really present? When the altar boy rings the bells and the priest raises the host and the chalice for us to worship don't the children know what's happening? Of course they do! We are all invited to be like little children responding to Jesus who says, "Let the little ones come to me and don't hinder them. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them."

And the beautiful thing is that, even when you don't fully understand, you breathe in the atmosphere of holy reverence. It doesn't matter if you feel lost. Just being there and resting in the hollow of God's hand is a blessing.

We are in the midst of fundraising to build a permanent chapel. We have the property and are clearing the land. Our current location is inadequate and, in fact, close to a busy road and dangerous for the children. The sooner we can move into our permanent home the better.

In twenty-nine years of publishing the Les Femmes print newsletter I almost never asked for donations, except on a few occasions when we were helping persecuted priests. But now I beg you to consider in your charity contributing to our building fund. If my blog has blessed you at all, you can say thank you by making a donation. And then, I hope you will come visit. We are a welcoming little congregation, growing in the Lord. And here at Camp Kreitzer we welcome visitors with glad hearts. You can sample my home made bread with honey from our bees.

The picture above is a rendering of the future chapel. Won't you help us bring it into being? My husband and I are old. It will take a few years to bring this dream to reality. We would like to live long enough to see it and worship there. If you help, you will have our gratitude and prayers.

Visit the donation page here. You can make a donation in honor of a loved one. Wouldn't that be a great Mother's or Father's Day gift?

May God bless and keep you and Mary encourage you in all your challenges.

And on this feast of St. Joseph the Worker, may all your work be a blessing! We pray for St. Joseph's intercession for our building project with this prayer of St. Francis de Sales. Please join your prayers to ours:

St. Francis De Sales' Prayer to St. Joseph:
Glorious St. Joseph, Spouse of Mary, grant us thy paternal protection, we beseech thee by the Heart of Jesus Christ. O Thou, whose power extends to all our necessities and can render possible to us the most impossible things, open thy fatherly eyes to the needs of thy children. In trouble and distress that afflicts us, we confidently have recourse to thee. Make its happy outcome be for God’s glory and for the good of His devoted servants. Amen.
