Looking for Brave Bishops who Speak the Truth in Love!

DANGER! Road out ahead.
Supposing you meet a friend who tells you he is driving to the mountains on a road you know well.
There is a section of the road around a blind curve that runs along a cliff. You know that the road was washed out in a recent storm. Several people have driven up the cliff road only to end their days plunging off the edge and onto the rocks below. The police have put warnings along the road, but someone keeps taking them down and puts up signs about the wonderful views from the top of the mountain. They obviously have a macabre sense of humor because the last sign before the curve is "Welcome to heaven."

Tell me, would it be an act of charity to say to your friend, "That really is a lovely mountain and the views are stupendous. Have a great time!" Everything you said is the truth, but you left out an important piece of information. Would you console yourself later after your friend takes the plunge by saying, "Well...everything I said was true?

Ann Landers Can’t Compete with Fr. Rutler

I’m a big fan of Fr. George Rutler, so when I came across an article titled, “Dear Father Rutler,”...well...how could I resist. I’m glad I didn’t try. I’ll just give you his first piece of advice to tempt you. You can find more at the Catholic Herald (UK):
Dear Father Rutler,

Nabi Sayeth: Celebrate Our Lady on her Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Nabi sayeth: We celebrate on December 8 the wonderful Catholic feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. And what a beautiful and powerful feast it is. Though widely misunderstand by Catholics in the pew, the feast commemorates the conception of the Virgin Mary, not the conception of our Lord Jesus as the Gospel reading for the Feast leads many to believe. The feast is meant to celebrate the uniqueness and incredible holiness of Our Mother Mary. That Mary is “Blessed among women” is a Catholic belief which will make little sense to many in our egalitarian-obsessed culture.

But the Catholic Church by celebrating this feast insists that Our Blessed Mother IS INDEED unique, special, most holy among all women, and men as well. She was chosen to be Our Lord’s Mother because she was conceived without sin and was, therefore, the most perfect “Vessel” to bear the Savior of the world.

An Anniversary from Hell

St. Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California
Today is the 50th anniversary of the Land O' Lakes Conference.  Isn't Land O' Lakes a kind of butter? Not that Land O' Lakes although that's what I thought of when I first heard about the infamous event years ago.

No, the Land O' Lakes conference was organized by Holy Cross Father Theodore Hesburgh who was the president of Notre Dame University. It's purpose? To revamp the idea of a Catholic University and bring it into the "modern world."

Actually it was more about being accepted by the world and getting a hand in Uncle Sam's generous pockets. The way to do that was to separate the idea of Catholic education from Catholic authority which their statement did.

Corruption at the Vatican: Drain the Swamp!

“Lower than the Rome of the Borgias”

High-ranking priest caught in cocaine-fueled gay orgy in Vatican apartment

Why report bad news? Because ignorance is not bliss! Corruption among high level churchmen is NOTHING NEW. Even Judas, one of Christ's nearest and dearest, committed treason against Our Lord. Who knows whether greed was his only deadly sin?

So never let things like this scandal damage your faith. Let it, instead, fuel your desire to pray and sacrifice for Holy Mother Church, especially for the clergy who are under multiple assaults from the demons.

We all have guardian angels. We also, no doubt, have at least one devil assigned to tempt us. (Read The Screwtape Letters.) The cartoon with the devil whispering in one ear and an angel whispering in the other is truer than you imagine.

Catholics, Are You Still Thinking of Voting for Hillary? Don't Do It!

From Fr. George Rutler and Holy Mother Church:
While one may pragmatically vote for a flawed candidate, one may not vote for anyone who advocates and enables unmitigatedly evil acts, and that includes abortion. “In the case of an intrinsically unjust law, such as a law permitting abortion or euthanasia, it is therefore never licit to obey it, or to ‘take part in a propaganda campaign in favor of such a law, or vote for it'” (Evangelium Vitae, 73).

Unlike Pope Francis, Here's a Priest Who Understands Islam.

Tolerating Terror

Fr. Rutler understand the "logic of the Quran" that shows a god named Allah in the image of the Father of Lies, i.e., Satan. Islam is satanic pure and simple, a religion with a false god who hates his own creation. Fr. Rutler obviously doesn't buy the premise that Islam is a religion of peace. This excerpt is just a taste of an article worth reading and re-reading. Let's pray the pope reads it and takes it to heart:

Plenty of "Gongs Clanging and Cymbals Clashing" in the Pope's Exhortation

Fr. George Rutler has a way with words and his insights are always worth reading or listening to. Here's an excerpt from a recent article on Amoris Laetitia:
there are a lot of gongs clanging and cymbals clashing in the contradictions and redundancies of much of the exhortation’s diction. Parts like the affirmation of Humanae Vitae settle the text in the sacred tradition, but there is also the muddled treatment of moral culpability that almost nods to the neuralgic interpretation of the “fundamental option” theory rejected by St. John Paul II (Veritatis Splendor, nn.65, 67)....

Wisdom from Fr. Rutler

Fr. George Rutler writes a weekly column for his parish website. The one below sends a trumpet blast warning that the faithful Catholic Church will became a remnant. Let us make sure we are in that little band of brothers and sisters. Take a virtual trip to the Church of Our Savior in Manhattan at the end. It is worth a field trip to Manhattan to see its beauty up close and personal!

FROM THE PASTOR
November 18, 2012
by Fr. George W. Rutler

In the wake of the recent hurricane, a sibilant television commentator said, “I’m so glad we had that storm.” Apologies aside, his words betrayed a view: people are expendable for the sake of promoting a political program. In this instance the program was a form of socialism that has brought so much sorrow to other nations.

When free people vote against their own freedoms, they knock down the columns of a free society on themselves, the way Samson brought down the temple on his own head. The first column to collapse will be the First Amendment right to freedom of religion. Naïfs who thought this could not happen will be startled when the Church has to close charities, hospitals and schools, and even parish churches if they are subject to tax intimidation. This will be far more disastrous to our civilization than the looming fiscal chaos and international instability. Although certain areas on November 6 reported massive voter fraud, the election results cannot be blamed just on corruption. Voters deliberately rejected warnings clearly made by moral and political leaders.

At least we have a beacon of honesty shining on the Catholic Church in the United States. The 70 million or so Catholics were a Potemkin village, and the numbers of faithfully practicing Catholics are a small portion of that. Long before he became pope, Benedict was a prophet who said, “The church will become small and will have to start afresh more or less from the beginning.” As the state’s lions begin to roar, the nominal Catholics will skip out of the arena.

For a long while Roman Catholicism became for many a nervously self-conscious kind of Cute Catholicism, with leprechauns, mariachi bands and Santa Claus instead of confession, prayer and fidelity to doctrine. But behind each leprechaun St. Patrick stares, and behind every mariachi band Our Lady of Guadalupe weeps, and behind every Santa Claus, Christ Himself judges.

Catholics could have saved the best in America, and they can only blame themselves for what has fallen down: marriage breakdown, contempt for chastity, a record low birth rate, and destruction of infants. Looking at his own decadent empire, Cicero wrote:

“Do not blame Caesar; blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and given him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the ‘new, wonderful, good society’ which shall now be Rome’s, interpreted to mean: more money, more ease, more security, more living fatly at the expense of the industrious.”

We can feast with Caesar, but he will soon feast on us, and we can laugh with him, but he will soon laugh at us. “Risus abundat in ore stultorum.” There is much laughter in the mouth of the foolish.
