Great News about SSPX and the Year of Mercy

POPE FRANCIS FOR YEAR OF MERCY GRANTS THAT SSPX PRIESTS CAN VALIDLY ABSOLVE!

Omigosh, what will Church Militant TV do with this? The SSPX perhaps aren't as demonic as formerly thought. Read the entire post and the comments at Fr. Z's blog and take to heart his admonition to go to Confession.

Let's pray in the Year of Mercy that we see the complete reconciliation of the SSPX. We need their fidelity and zeal to help renew the face of the earth!

Laugh of the Day from Fr. Z's Comment Section: Turn Down that Air Conditioner!

Fr. Z has a post on the encyclical and, as I was reading the comments, I had my first laugh of the day. Thanks to "Anj" for the laugh and to Fr. Z for his insightful and entertaining blog.

I now have ammunitation to persuade my wife to turn up the temperature control on the air-conditioning. She has it stubbornly set at 72 degrees F. Every time I sneek it up to 74, somehow she knows. Now, I can say: Stay! The pope has declared in his Encyclical that use of the air conditioner is a act of violence against our sister/mother the earth. Don’t you think we should nudge that thermostat up to 75? Maybe even 78? Otherwise, the next confession is going to have to add irresponsible air conditioning use to the list.

Have babies! Got this off Fr. Z's blog and I absolutely love it! Baby is happy and so is Mom. And this, friends, is early home schooling!

Preserve Us, Lord, from an Unprovided Death

If you were caught in a terrorist situation tomorrow and, God forbid, were killed, would you be ready?

The very worst thing for any of us is, not to lose his life, but to lose eternal salvation. And that means, we need to be ready. Pray to St. Joseph that you will be ready at the moment of your death -- whether it is expected as the final end of a serious illness or is a shocking surprise from an accident or an act of violence. 

Fr. Z did a great post on being ready. As he said, "A sudden death can be a blessing. A sudden and unprovided death is a horrifying prospect." I'm working on my relationship with St. Joseph, the patron of a happy death.

PRAYER FOR A HAPPY DEATH

O Glorious St. Joseph, behold I choose thee today for my special patron in life and at the hour of my death. Preserve and increase in me the spirit of prayer and fervor in the service of God. Remove far from me every kind of sin; obtain for me that my death may not come upon me unawares, but that I may have time to confess my sins sacramentally and to bewail them with a most perfect understanding and a most sincere and
perfect contrition, in order that I may breathe forth my soul into the hands of Jesus and Mary. Amen

The Dissent Fest in Detroit - Priest Thumbs Nose at Bishop

When priests are ordained they put their hands between the bishop's and promise obedience. Of course, there are some situations where priests can legitimately disobey. Obviously a young priest would not owe obedience to a homosexual bishop who ordered him to engage in sodomy with him. Not only does a subordinate have the right to refuse obedience in such a situation, he has a moral obligation to disobey. An order to sin is immoral and must NEVER be obeyed.

But we aren't talking about that. Archbishop Allen Vigneron of Detroit was acting totally within his authority when he ordered the priests of his diocese NOT to be involved with the Mass at the American Catholic Council event held in Detroit last weekend. Fr. Bob Wurm (well named) a retired 78-year-old priest, did it anyway and made it clear that he doesn't think the bishop will do a thing about it.  Essentially he thumbed his nose at his bishop and dared him to do anything about it. According to the organizers, dozens of local priests and deacons attended the Mass, but they would say that. Liberal liars are as common as bedbugs in New York.

Whatever the truth of other clergy attending, Fr. Wurm participated for sure and I hope the Archbishop follows through on his threats and removes his faculties. We need faithful servants of God in the vineyard; not those who imitate Lucifer's non serviam.

I'd love to see photos from the Call to Holiness conference held the same weekend. My bet is it attracted a much broader spectrum of the Church. What is it with these heretical old geezers? Isn't age supposed to bring wisdom? They just appear ridiculous. See Fr. Z's post for some of the other silliness. I hate to say it, but the saying immediately jumped into my head, "There's no fool like an old fool." Pray for these folks to retrieve their sanity.
