Lent is about identifying our disorders and choosing penances that attack them.

This guide will help us make really valuable choices during Lent that bring us closer to Christ by the time we reach Easter. I've listened to several times and it's already helped me identify a disordered thing in my life that needs attention. Father discusses penance, mortification, and making concrete resolutions "to clean things up in the future." Those are the luggage we need to take on our Lenten journey.

"What we're after during Lent is to remove obstacles to God's grace -- to remove those obstacles from our souls and our lives."

Want the journey to Easter to be fruitful? This is a good starting point? May God pour out His grace on us that we may reach our goal and be able to say, "That was a really fruitful Lent. Thank you, Lord. Help me continue to grow closer to You during the Easter season of celebration."

What's Wrong with the World?

What's wrong with the world?

G. K. Chesterton famously responded to that question with two words.

I AM!

Sunday Meditation: Let us accept all our sufferings as a mortification for our eternal salvation.

Many of the meditations in the Benedictus Latin Mass prayer book share writings of Prosper Louis Pascal Guéranger (1805-1875).  A French priest and Benedictine monk, Dom Guéranger was Abbot of the monastery of Solesmes for almost 40 years. He also established the French Benedictine Congregation after the French Revolution. The architects of the Revolution. with their "cult of reason," did everything possible to destroy the Catholic Church in France.

When you feel discouraged, read the saints!

I'm reading the Autobiography of  St. Anthony Mary Claret. What an incredible priest!

Who needs the "new evangelization" when we had great saints like this giving us a sound prescription for an effective evangelization based on tried and true methods!

We need to get back to the "old" evangelization!

St. Anthony was born about two hundred years ago. Nabi's posts make me think of him because of his call for virtue in the clergy! That, without doubt,  is the beginning of an effective evangelization.

Here's what St. Anthony said about the sinful culture of his own day:
The sole reason why society is perishing is because it has refused to hear the word of the Church, which is the word of life, the word of God. All plans for salvation will be sterile if the great word of the Catholic Church is not restored in all its fullness.
