Update on TLM Ban in Charlotte, The Steel Boot Descends!

October has arrived and the TLM has been deep-sixed except for one small chapel that cannot accommodate the 1000+ weekly attendees. For many, the Sunday Mass requires two-hour travel time to participate at the Mass of the Ages.

The pretense that he is promoting "unity" in his diocese shows exactly how dishonest Bishop Michael Martin is. The four parishes that offered the TLM had no problem with unity among the TLM and Novus Ordo communities as the four pastors testified. So what's going on? Obviously many people will not be able to travel the enormous distance to attend the Latin Mass. Even more egregious, the church now available, as I wrote above, can accommodate fewer than 1/3 of those previously going to the four parishes.

I'm praying to St. Michael the archangel today for Bishop Martin. Martin hasn't hidden his disdain for the TLM. He obviously hates the reverence accorded to the Blessed Sacrament as well as the Mass itself. In a letter to his priests (draft) written last May, the bishop came down hard on everything remotely traditional including the use of Latin and the ad orientem position where the priest faces liturgical East and leads the people to God. He banned candles and flowers from the altar and altar rails or a prei dieu for those who wish to kneel for Communion. He's perfectly fine, however, with projectors and screens in the church and banning veils for any women serving a liturgical function.

What about all this fosters unity? This is one more tyrant bishop illustrating clericalism at its worst. We are getting to the point where home churches like those in Communist countries need to be established because we have so many commies in clerics these days. Like Pope Benedict said, the TLM could not be abrogated. Priests have a right to say it; the faithful have a right to attend it and also to receive ALL THE SACRAMENTS in the traditional form. There is nothing unifying about what Bishop Martin and his like-minded brethren are doing. The attack on tradition is an attack on Christ Himself.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Our Lady, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us.
