Good for Michael Matt, Chris Jackson, and Others: The "Best revenge" of the SSPX!

Today my focus is on the recent meeting between Fr. Davide Pagliarani and Cardinal Victor Fernandez, head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), about the upcoming SSPX consecration of new bishops scheduled for July 1st. Many of us recognize the ploy for what it is, a last ditch effort to gain control over the Society. They (the modernists at the Vatican) want to control the Society because the SSPX is the main roadblock to what they want, complete annihilation of Sacred Tradition: not only the Traditional Latin Mass, but all the sacraments, the rites (e.g., exorcism), etc. All that reeks of that old fashioned Church. must be purged to make way for the new, ever-evolving Church. Watch the movie, The Catholics, with Martin Sheen to see the end game. The book and film were truly prophetic.

So the meeting was held and ended with Fr. Pagliarani saying he would send a response after consultation. And what a response! The letter from the SSPX is available in a number of places including Vatican correspondent, Diane Montagna's, substack. It's a tour de force, a charitable response to the clerics in hobnailed boots and mailed fists with their threats. The rock of the Catholic Society is facing off against the wet noodle of modernist porn-peddling Fernandez representing Rome.

Chris Jackson at Hiraeth in Exile offers a spot on analysis of the letter. His observations are always astute. I recommend subscribing to his substack. Michael Matt has surprised me recently with his vigorous defense of the SSPX. I applaud his clear explanation of the dispute and the grave necessity undergirding the Society's actions.

Maybe the voices of "Catholic Inc." who love Sacred Tradition are beginning to see the writing on the wall. They've been waiting for Leo to be a good guy and they lap up every ounce of the milk of human kindness he pours in the bowl. But the milk is sour and the bowl is likely to be empty soon. Why? Because the Vatican is determined to wipe out what Trad Inc. values as much as the SSPX does. If Rome kills the Society, the Ecclesia Dei (ED) groups will likely be next: the FSSP, Canons of the New Jerusalem, Institute of Christ the King, etc. Crush them all seems to be the agenda in Rome. And these communities are now under the rule of Fernandez, since the ED papal commission was suppressed by Pope Francis in 2019 and transferred to the CDF.

I like to do the cryptogram in the Epoch Times every week. They often carry quotes from ancient philosophers. Marcus Aurelius pops up regularly. He was a Roman emperor of the 2nd century and a stoic philosopher. Why do I bring up a man who is anything but a current commentator on the situation with the SSPX? Because his quote is exactly what we see in the current "dialogue" between Cardinal Victor Fernandez and Fr. Davide Pagliarani:
“The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Archbishop Lefebvre was nothing like Pope Francis and his like-minded cardinals. My son had a mean cat. If you walked by a chair where the mean cat sat, he would thrust out a paw and scratch you. That was Francis. Pope Leo is more like the cat that rubs up against your ankles and purrs pleasantly, but the claws are there ripping and shredding the faith. The pride of lions gathers in the SSPX and among the Ecclesia Dei orders and among the NO priests who recognize the crisis and continue to do the best they can to defend the faith and bring souls to Christ. Many of them never experienced the TLM. But the young seminarians in the NO reflect a zeal and concern for souls often lacking in their superiors. We need to pray for them.

In the meantime, until sanity returns to Rome, we must keep the faith which is supported by three pillars: Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the Magisterium. Sad to say one of those pillars, the magisterium, shows evidence of termites eating away at it and threatening the whole. The pillar of Sacred Tradition is also termite attacked. That's why we desperately need the Society. Sacred Tradition must be preserved not gutted to the point the pillar collapses. And we need to equally pray and fast for holy Cardinals and bishops. The rot in the magisterium is well advanced. God help the Judases on Judgment Day!

Let us all embrace Fr. Pagliarani's urgent request to pray. Pray for the Society. Pray for the pope and the bishops. Pray for ourselves and our families. The salvation of souls is what's at stake in this crisis. May we never forget that.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Mary, Co-Redemptrix and Mediatrix of all Graces, pray for us.

St. Joseph, Pillar of Families, pray for us.

St. Pius X, pray for us.

  1. I found the SSPX during COVID, I believe like you Mary Ann. They are just traditional Catholics, nothing more or less. They bear fruit as Fr. Isaac Mary Relyea points out, and by their fruit you shall know them. And the fruit coming from the Vatican and the ‘New Synodal Church’ is not good and getting worse the past 60 years.
