An Open Letter to Ted Cruz: Stop Your Calumny Against Catholics!

I follow a writer on Substack, Radical Fidelity, whose posts are always informative and interesting. Recently Ted Cruz promoted a vicious anti-Catholic diatribe by a woman who calls herself Insurrection Barbie. I imagine she channels this babe:

I started to read her screed and decided it wasn't worth the time. Her accusations completely miss the target for the most part. It's like she's aiming her bow at the moon in the middle of the night calling it the sun. But hey, what can you expect from somebody who takes a brainless bimbo for her moniker?
At any rate, Radical Fidelity's post gives you enough of Bimbo Barbie's article to get the drift.
Bad News for Catholophobe Inc: Christ is King and Aspirations for Catholic States are NOT a Conspiracy
After reading it, I decided to write to Ted Cruz and publish my short message as an open letter. I suggest you write to him as well and call out his bigotry. Be sure to choose a subject so you can ask for a response. [https://www.cruz.senate.gov/contact/write-ted]

The assault on Catholics is going into superdrive. Did you read the recommendation of Pete Hegseth's minister that Catholic processions should be legally banned? So much for religious tolerance. I think they would rather see Muslims praying on the streets of NYC than have Jesus Christ carried in procession through the streets.

The photo above is interesting because of the visual in the background. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was Jesus in the Eucharist with the Muslims worshiping a strange god in the other direction. Don't let anyone tell you that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. If you study Mohammad's visions, it's pretty clear he was talking to a demon. But how many politicians are attacking Islam. Has Ted Cruz condemned Muslim street events popping up around the country or the call to prayer being broadcast throughout New York City? Not likely since that could get him targeted for a terrorist attack. Catholics are a safe target for an unscrupulous bigot.

As for the Protestants, the revolt never goes out of style and many are more interested in attacking Catholics than in worshiping Jesus Christ. I've pretty much abandoned trying to evangelize bad-faith Protestants who only want to attack the Blessed Mother and tell us we're going to hell. I fear the three fingers pointing back at them when they point at us are the real indication of who's in danger. How can they oppose public worship of our God and King?

At any rate, I will close with my letter to Cruz and hope you will write to him as well. If you do, don't forget to choose a subject (I chose Social Issues) and ask for a reply. It's time to hold these anti-Catholic bigots accountable!

OPEN LETTER TO TED CRUZ

I was shocked to read of your anti-Catholic bigotry. Traditional Catholics have never been anti-semitic or anti-anybody since we are all God's creation. That you would promote such a message, especially to the voting block that is most likely to support those who advance a pro-life message is shocking in the extreme. My husband and I have children in Texas and adult grandchildren who vote. I will be advising them to avoid supporting any candidate who shows such ignorant bigotry against Catholics.

You owe Catholics an apology and I hope you will have the grace to offer one. I'll be praying for you and for those in the administration like Pete Hegseth who have shown the same intolerance and willingness to persecute the Catholic Church like Hegseth's minister suggested. Jesus founded the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church affirmed the books of the Bible in the 4th century. We continue to be the only Church that fulfills the mandate Jesus called for in John 6. Do you think it is pleasing to God to persecute His Church?

  1. Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you.....John 15:20

Let us remember His enemy is the same yesterday, today and till the end of time. We, Catholics must preach, and defend His truth, like there was no tomorrow, and with nothing less than a 'fides intrepida' - 'a fearless faith! So, help us God!

    1. Agreed! May we have the courage and perseverance to be faithful to the end.

  2. Thinking about it, we, Catholics should see the persecution, as a sign from heaven, it means that Catholics are carrying the ‘torch of truth,’ courageously…… not hidden under a bushel basket. Cruz, and company knows it, see it, and fear it.
We were not baptized and confirmed for nothing, Truth must be preached in season and out of season…… for the glory of God, for the triumph of His Church, for the good of saving souls, especially, our own.
    Viva Cristo Rey!

    1. Well said. One thing the modern world sorely needs is courage to speak the truth in charity.
