Reading the headlines these days is enough to send your blood pressure through the roof. The war in Iran is showing signs, not of de-escalation, but a strategy of horizontal escalation that gives a weaker power the ability to respond to a stronger power. [See Why Escalation Favors Iran.] Reading about it definitely gives one pause about the wisdom of starting the fight. Did we learn anything from Vietnam? And now Hezbollah has joined Iran with coordinated, simultaneous missile attacks.
Are we on the verge of World War III? Think about it. Both Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II said the fruit of abortion was nuclear war. Have we repented? Have we seen conversion?
Time to be on our knees praying the rosary and getting our moral houses in order to be ready at any moment to meet our Maker. All things that happen are in the hands of God. He wills all things either absolutely or permissively. The thing that makes Him so good and so great is that He brings good out of evil. What the devil means for our despair, God uses for our conversion. Read the Old Testament. God never punishes without purpose. He uses chastisement to encourage us to conversion. It all starts with each one of us.
So let's not spend too much time worrying about the state of the world. Let's not wring our hands over the fear of what's coming tomorrow. Let's do everything we can today to walk in the footsteps of Jesus and all the saints. That's how we transform the world!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
St. Joseph, Pillar of Families, pray for us.
