In this Jubilee year of St. Francis, Let Us Pray for All Those Trying to Save Our Crumbling Church

I've said it before. God has a sense of humor. While the porn-writing head of the DDF apparently expected hordes of SSPX priests to head for the exit door, the opposite is happening. Priests are heading for the open door to the SSPX and affiliating with the Society. LifeSiteNews has this:

Leo XIV’s excommunication backfires:   SSPX lists multiple priests who just joined them

We have only begun to see the fallout from the Vatican's draconian response to the consecrations and the continued attack on the Traditional Latin Mass. Pewsitters who simply want to worship God in reverence and truth are waking up to the crisis in the Church. Many see the SSPX as a lifeboat. Isn't it one?

The situation in the Church today is much worse than it was in 1988 when Archbishop Lefebvre consecrated the first four bishops. Since then the synods have shone a spotlight on the efforts to Protestantize the Church and undermine her doctrine. The Synod on the Family gave us Amoris Laetitia with its move to allow those in invalid marriages to receive the sacraments without repentance and amendment. The Amazonian Synod attacked missionary activity and gave us Pachamama in the Vatican garden and on the altar of St. Peters. The Synod on Synodality is giving us committee reports that threaten the very essence of the faith. And we haven't seen the worst of it yet since it won't be complete until 2028.

The SSPX is not building a new Church. The Society is acting like St. Francis to rebuild a Church that's crumbling. It seems particularly appropriate that all this is happening during the jubilee year to St. Francis that will continue until January 10, 2027. Let us pray for his intercession as we continue to navigate the muddy waters of the crisis. Love Jesus, love the truth, strive for holiness, and keep the faith. All will be well if we remember those things and refuse to let the prince of this world rob us of our peace.

May Jesus Christ be praised!
