Will the Real Catholics Please Stand Up!

Our millstone award goes to the Catholic
Press Association and the fishwrap!
Anyone reading this blog for awhile knows that we consider Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services, and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development unworthy of any support from Catholics in the pews. If you want your money  to support abortion, contraception, and Marxist community organizing just toss it in the basket for those bogus Catholic collections. (Better to burn it!) But they aren't the only groups masquerading as Catholic while undermining the faith! There are plenty of others.

Cardinal Kasper's Disingenuous Theology of Discontinuity and Distortion

Cardinal Kasper: "Thou Dost Protest Too Much."

Reading this article brought to mind the quote from Hamlet, "that one may smile and smile and be a villain." Kasper, like Claudius, is a poisoner -- poisoning Christ's teaching and attempting to seduce his bride, the Church. That, of course, is impossible, but he can certainly poison the faithful with his false and evil "hermeneutic of discontinuity."

Here's a bit from the article. I've highlighted some particularly cogent parts in red. My comments are in blue:
The false arguments presented to defend this doctrinal change [to allow those in invalid marriages who remarry after divorce without annulment] are camouflaged with the usual tactic of speculating about the ramifications of the practice of the ancient Church (the Jesuits’ Karl Rahner was an expert at this strategy). These modern theologians love to speculate. But despite their insatiable taste for speculation, most of Catholic theology is not speculative. The realm of genuine speculative theology is very small and limited.

Why Is She Teaching at a Catholic College?

And moral theology no less. Oh...we forgot...Santa Clara is a Jebbie school. That explains it!

Lisa Fullam, prolific dissenter: you name it, she dissents from it. Just do your own thing!

And some thoughts from canon lawyer Ed Peters.

Is it any wonder young adults lose their faith at Catholic schools? I remember a heretic teaching my own moral theology class in 1966. It contributed to my wandering from the Church for awhile, fortunately a short while. But when will bishops rein in these renegade schools in their dioceses?

Ah...at least one bishop is on it. Two thumbs up to Bishop Michael Barber of Oakland and Pope Francis' first appointment to the U.S. episcopate. May we receive many more like him. Just goes to show there are a few good Jesuits. Fr. John Hardon, S.J., please intercede for your brother.

Sister Acts: From the Dissenters' Stage

How truly pitiful it is to see women who should be dedicated to the Lord performing their own personal  farce. Here are two nuns who need a good ecclessial smack-down for undermining the faith and scandalizing the faithful:

The cast of dissenters:
  • Catholic Sister Elaine Hirschenberger from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is Executive Director of a secular organization called Woman's Space (sic) in Rockford IL. If you go to the Womanspace website it's filled with somewhat innocuous events and ambiguous statements. They are, of course, "empowering" women and changing the world "one woman at a time." But are they transforming the world to be more Catholic? Hardly! According to the Rockford, IL Pro Life Corner "Christians began to realize something was deeply wrong with a place in Rockford called Woman’s Space (sic) when it was learned one of the founders and now Executive Director Sister Elaine Hirschenberger, presided at the funeral service for Kate Trainer, a longtime abortion advocate and employee of the notorious Rockford abortion mill."  But there's more. Woman's Space likes to stage events featuring new age paganism. They regularly feature Wiccan high priestess Selena Fox as a speaker. They also feature

Most Holy Redeemer: At It Again

See the latest scandal from Most Holy Redeemer (MHR)

If I made a list of the most gay parishes in the U.S., Most Holy Redeemer in San Francisco's Castro District would have to be near the top of the list. The scandal there goes on and on. After being directed by the bishop to abstain from participation in the annual gay pride march a few years ago, MHR is back in full sodomy-promotion mode. The faith has disappeared in that parish and many others around the country where priests bless mortal sin. Remember the Bible passage that says a time would come when men call good evil and evil good? MHR illustrates it in spades! Their pastor is a false shepherd leading the sheep down the primrose path to the dropoff into hell. And the bishop who allows this to continue will have to answer for his spineless failure to govern. How long, O Lord? How long? Pray for Fr. Steve Meriwether that he will experience conversion of heart. When priests are mediocre their parishioners are bad. When the priest is actually evil, what will the people be?
