St. Bernard of Clairvaux vs. the Anti-Pope

St. Bernard of Clairvaux choking a demon!

Today is the feast of St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153), surely a saint for our time. He opposed anti-pope Anacletus II who remained on the papal throne until his death. Anacletus's anti-pope successor, Victor III, repented and resigned after two days and acknowledged the true pope, Innocent II. We are not the only ones living in confusing times.

VIRGINIA VICTORY! Don't Be Like the Nine Ungrateful Lepers; Say Thank You to Your Mother!

The Diocese of Arlington began a Novena to Our Lady for the election on October 25th. During that time I attended Mass at several different parishes and each consistently said the Memorare for the election after Sunday and daily Masses. Praise be to God!

The Bus, The Bollard, and The Blessed Mother

We returned last week from our Pilgrimage to Italy with a small group from our parish, including our pastor, Fr. Dennis Kleinmann.  Three things in particular that we witnessed will forever stand out as the most remarkable memories of the trip.

The first involves our tour bus, which was a normal European touring coach, our excellent driver, and our wonderful tour guide, Marco.

Can't Sleep? Pray the Memorare...

I've been saying a lot of Memorares at night since I'm not sleeping well. I love the prayer and the image of Mary as our faithful helper and intercessor.

"Remember...." Isn't our memory of Mary and her faithfulness a great place to start a prayer?

Remember "that NEVER was it known." Think about it -- never is it known for the Blessed Mother to ignore the prayers of "anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession." None of those supplicants are "left unaided."

Hey, she is there for you, your mother, and you can ALWAYS count on her aid.

That prayer almost makes me look forward to being awake at night praying for family and friends. "In your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen"

She will you know.
