What Happens When You Take the Freedom Out of Liberalism

Occasionally I read a book that is rich enough in content to linger in my head long after I’ve turned the last page.  Others, while interesting, are less captivating and they fade from thought as fast as the smell of your neighbor’s steak on the grill last night.  When the message stays with you even weeks after you’ve put it down and you find yourself quoting from it, or referring it to friends, you know you have stumbled on a gem.

One such book that I read this summer is The Demon in Democracy, Totalitarian Temptations in Free Societies by Ryszard Legutko.  According to the back cover, the author is “a professor of philosophy at Jagellonian University in Krakow, Poland, specializing in ancient philosophy and political theory.”  In other words, Ryszard is no fly weight when it comes to having a point of view worthy of respect.

...as he puts heretical Catholic, Piers Morgan, to shame.

An atheist can be a truth seeker and this man obviously is one. He respects the internal consistency of Catholic orthodoxy. His logic is impeccable. If we believe that the Holy Spirit speaks through the Church, then Catholics (Take note, Piers!) MUST accept what is defined as doctrine. To do otherwise is, as Jillette points out, the position of Martin Luther. So be consistent, Piers. Either stop dissenting and be a real Catholic or go join a Protestant sect. ECUSA (Episcopal Church USA) would fit you nicely and it's strongly linked to the Brits' collapsing Anglican Church.

Blame Obama and Piers Morgan

Another deranged killer is on the rampage and he's a huge Obama and Piers Morgan fan. Well, by the left's logic we should blame them, right?  I have a long memory and I remember how the left blamed all pro-lifers for George Killer's murder despite the fact that the killer had NO connections to the pro-life community.

So, Obama and Morgan, you get full responsibility for inciting this guy to go on his killing spree. It's you kind of rhetoric that incites these guys to violence.
