Feeling Dizzy: Is it Motion Sickness, Diabolical Disorientation, or Both?

My husband and I should be in Florida. We left on Wednesday looking forward to five days at the Air B&B of friends who generously offered it for a get-away. (Thank you, dear friends.) The chickens were in good hands, the water was turned off. St. Joseph and St. Michael were on the security detail. We pulled out of the driveway with eager anticipation and began a rosary for our safe travels.

Sometimes the best laid plans go awry.

Bishops Seek Our Help as Laity
The Catholic Church in the United States currently is facing three major cultural issues — disrespect for life from conception to natural death; succeeding attempts to change the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman; and continuing efforts to restrict religious freedom.

The bishops in America are addressing these issues through the courts,legislation and other societal means. They also are calling on the laity to join with them in a program of prayer, penance and sacrifice.

A USCCB committee headed by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone recommended a program to run concurrently with the Year of Faith, from the Feast of the Holy Family (December 30, 2012) through the Feast of Christ the King (November 24, 2013). It was approved at the last meeting of the USCCB.

Specifically, the bishops are asking all Catholics to:

1. Daily: Say the rosary for a renewal of our nation’s culture
2. Weekly: Fast and abstain from meat every Friday
3. Monthly: Attend a Eucharistic Holy Hour
4. Annually: Participate in a Fortnight of Freedom in July-August

Pray for All Those Who Gave the Last Full Measure of Devotion

As we gathered for dinner this evening we offered a prayer for all deceased member of the military who gave their lives in service to our country. May God forgive them their transgressions and welcome them into eternity because they were willing to lay down their lives for others. Don't go to bed tonight without offering a prayer for all of them, especially those who have no one to remember them.
