From the Creepy Trivia Files...

Lots of people have been proposing that Obama may be the anti-Christ. Well...I take such prognostications with a grain of salt although the messiah stuff, media worship, world obamamania, obama kids singing to their leader, etc. is pretty creepy.

But now a new bit of trivia enters the picture that must certainly clinch it. On November 5th, election day, the pick three lottery in Obama's state of Illinois was.....guess what....666. Really! You can check it out for yourself. Think the winner will give his lottery windfall to "the one" for redistribution to the masses?

Author Michael O'Brien addresses the question of anti-Christ as well in a letter to his readers.
"What are we to make of a man who has appeared out of semi-obscurity and become, nearly overnight, so very much an idol of the popular imagination? That he intends to become the most effective advocate of murder of the unborn ever seen in America should give us pause. Murder and lies are as old as the lands east of Eden, of course, but when they are charmingly packaged, proposed as reasonable and just policies (with a smile, a resonant voice, and an appealing flash of the eyes), one begins to wonder just what is afoot in the modern age. It brings to mind a passage from the first Act of Shakespeare's Hamlet:

"'That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain...'

"The line is from a scene where prince Hamlet has just encountered the ghost of his father, who informs his son that he was poisoned by his own brother Claudius (the 'smiling, damned villain'), who after murdering him, seized the king's crown and his queen.

"Barack Obama is an image-maker, creating his own myth as he goes along... Our hero. Our visionary. Our Great Friend and spokesman in the forum of the world?"

If you want to read an interesting book about the anti-Christ read Msgr. Robert Hugh Benson's Lord of the World or Michael O'Brien's Fr. Elijah. As for Obama, pray for him and work against all the evil he has planned to advance the murder of the unborn and the expansion of sexual perversion.

FIGHT FOCA!

One of the worst results of the election is the virtual guarantee that we will get the Freedom of Choice Act which will result in expansion of the murder of children and the abandonment of their mothers, especially minors, who will experience devastating exploitation as all state protections are destroyed.

This bill is not about freedom of choice but the power to coerce.

FOCA is a centerpiece of the new administration. Obama promised it, the Democrats love it, and Planned Parenthood will demand it.

Despite all that, we must continue to fight to prevent it through prayer and action. Join the Fight Foca movement by signing the petition of Americans United for Life. That is just the beginning; we must never weary in doing good. Don't waste time mourning the outcome on election day. Renew your dedication to defend the tiniest ones, God's precious children!

Picking Pockets in the Pew: the CCHD Scandal

Fleecing the flock!
On November 23rd in Catholic churches around the country ushers will pass collection baskets for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). Millions of trusting Catholics will contribute “to help the poor.” What many don’t know is that their hard-earned dollars will pour into the coffers of liberal organizations promoting causes they oppose and which often hurt the poor.

In 1969, the U.S. bishops established CCHD “to fund low-income controlled empowerment projects and to educate Catholics about the root causes of poverty.1 Since then the campaign has spent $300 million funding community and parish organizing. According to the grant application criteria on the CCHD website, groups offering direct services, e.g., soup kitchens, day care centers, homeless shelters, etc. are ineligible. So scrap the Missionaries of Charity, your local free clinic, or crisis pregnancy center; they are banned by definition. Not a single one appears on the 2007 summary of CCHD grantees.2 To be eligible, groups must organize the poor “to enact institutional change.” That means working for modification of existing laws and/or policies; and establishment of participatory and just social structures and/or redistribution of decision-making powers so that people living in poverty can be involved in policy-making that affects their lives.”3 (There is also an "economic development" category of funding for businesses run by and creating jobs for low-income people, but it's a small percentage of the pie – useful, however, for CCHD PR.)

The bottom line is CCHD primarily funds community organizers who go into neighborhoods and agitate for change using local people led by trained organizers, the real decision-makers. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing depending on the change and the tactics used, but CCHD has a shaky history of funding groups that promote radical left socialism rather than Catholicism. CCHD policy is modeled more on the failed strategies of secular poverty programs than on Catholic social justice philosophy. (Continued...)

A prophecy -- pray it does not come to pass

Prophets in the Old Testament warned the Israelites about future catastrophes if they did not repent and turn back to God. The warnings were always conditional.

"If my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my presence and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and revive their land." (2 Chronicles 14)

In mid October James Dobson wrote a prophetic letter, Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America. It is a sobering document. I urge you to run it off, read it, and save it in a safe place. Is Dobson's vision of what's coming for our country true? Will we lose free speech? Will doctors and nurses be forced to participate in abortions or lose their jobs? Will churches be forced to hire homosexuals and allow same-sex weddings? Will teachers be fired if they refuse to teach that homosexuality is good? Will homeschooling be restricted or even banned? Will elderly Americans be denied healthcare under a nationalized system? Will Christian books be removed from libraries and book stores as hate speech? Will the U.S. become a nation tried by a world court of the U.N.? Will her sovereignty disappear? Will guns be, not only regulated, but confiscated?

Dobson's letter raises many questions. Will his scenario of lost freedoms come to pass? I have no idea. But I will print out his letter and watch and see what happens. All those who wanted change may get it. Whether it will be a change for the better or a nightmare repetition from the past remains to be seen. Prophetic warnings are conditional. Embrace the message of Fatima because that promise is filled with hope. If we pray the rosary daily Mary promises that in the end her Immaculate Heart will triumph. That is a promise and a prophecy we can count on.

Clean up the Knights of Columbus before it self-destructs

As I've said before, just because the mouse is in the cookie jar doesn't make him a cookie.

A number of members of the Catholic men's organization, the Knights of Columbus, started a website, Knights for Obama after Supreme Knight Carl Anderson came out with an open letter taking fellow knight Joe Biden to task for his ignorant pontificating about abortion. Biden deserved the upbraiding and, in fact, should be ousted from the Knights which require their members to be upstanding Catholics. A Catholic who is publicly pro-abortion is a scandal who should be denied Communion under Canon Law 915 and stripped of any Catholic honors. Such action is for the good of Senator Biden's soul. Life is not a video game where those who score the most worldly points get into heaven. No, it is a struggle between good and evil with our salvation dependent on whether we serve God or Satan, who is a liar and murderer from the beginning. The abortion juggarnaut is built of lies and death.

Every man who joins Knights for Obama should be expelled from the Knights of Columbus. Just as Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz expelled members of Call to Action because their membership in the dissent group is inconsistent with Catholicism, so is the endorsement and support of a man who advocates, not only abortion, but infanticide and has made its support a litmus test for his administration. You cannot be Catholic and pro-abortion.

The Knights of Columbus have been pussyfooting around this scandalous situation for years. It's high time they took action to expel those who give public witness that it is okay to be pro-abortion and Catholic. They should start with all the pro-abortion politicians who use their membership in the Knights for political gain and move from there to those who have signed up for Knights for Obama. Catholics can't be Masons. Neither can they support child-killing. Their public scandal is mortally sinful and endangers their souls. It's high time someone had the courage to call their behavior exactly what it is.

It's not all bad news. Keep smiling!

A few good things happened on election day that aren't getting much press. Measures defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman passed including the particularly significant proposition 8 in California. The success of all the marriage propositions indicates that had McCain focused on Obama's extreme positions on abortion and marriage, he might have pulled off a win. How many people were taken in by the resurrected Clinton deceit of making abortion safe, legal, and rare? Obama claimed he would reduce the number of abortions while promising Planned Parenthood that he would pass the most radical pro-abortion legislation in history, the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). The media let him get away with all his lies, never challenging him on anything. They were too busy focusing on Sarah Palin's wardrobe. Did any reporter ever ask how much Obama spends on his suits and ties or how much Michelle's hideous election night red and black dress cost?

Mark Crutcher, president of Life Dynamics has an interesting article on the Obama victory called Obamanistas storm the winter palace. It's worth reading for a calm perspective from the pro-life point of view. As he says, "God is still in control. He is not holed-up in some obscure section of heaven pacing back and forth and wringing His hands, desperately trying to figure out what His next move should be. We're the only ones doing that." So if the shoe fits, get a new pair. By all means pace up and down, but do it at an abortion mill with a rosary in one hand and a sign in the other.

This election repudiated more than anything else the positions of the empire-building neocons. People did not reject conservative principles: smaller government, fewer legal intrustions, free speech, etc. They rejected the out-of-control Republicans who have ignored their platform and alienated their base. The election should be a wake-up call. But the country club republicans will never take the blame so watch for the trashing of a real republican, Sarah Palin. The Obamanistas weren't the only villains in this election.

Get out from under the bed and go to church!

Well, folks, America got what she deserves. After 53 million legal murders of the most innocent in our land, the Lord is going to allow us to be punished big time through our leaders. If Obama has his way we are going to see the following:

A big increase in the number of abortions: You can't reduce a thing by expanding it and FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act) does exactly that. It eliminates laws restricting public funding, eliminates conscience clause protections to health workers, will force hospitals and pharmacies to offer abortifacient drugs, eliminates parental consent and notification laws that protect minors, etc. Does this sound like limiting abortion?

Increased taxes both direct and indirect: Do corporations pay taxes? NO! They pass them on to their consumers. You will see increased prices on everything when the capital gains tax is increased and when companies are punished for success. That will also mean loss of jobs as companies cut back and delay expansion.

And whose going to pay for the "civilian security force" that Obama promised will be as well-funded as the military? This man has never managed anything larger than his Senate staff, for crying out loud. He is talking about the biggest expansion of government programs ever. By the way, will there be a civilian draft forcing participation?

Expect more draconian gun legislation. In Illinois Obama favored criminalizing citizens who used guns to defend their own families and homes. Look for a move toward more gun registration and classification of even low-level arms as assault weapons. If you use a gun to protect yourself expect to be prosecuted unless you're a liberal with lots of well-placed cronies.

Watch the bench. We will get even more insane legal rulings as the democrats stuff the courts at every level with liberal lawyers who love abortion, sodomy, and hate God. The Constitution is a big loser in this election. Obama sees it as a "living document" which means it says whatever he says it means. Be prepared to be the widow nagging the unjust judge; there won't be many just ones in a few years.

Payday is coming. For the average citizen that means higher taxes, more government intrustion, and less justice. For the unborn and their mothers it means more dismemberment, more heartache, and less practical assistance. We don't know yet what will happen to the crisis pregnancy centers. For Planned Parenthood it means higher profits and more government funding to expand the killing.

America has reaped the wind, batten down the hatches for the whirlwind. But don't despair. Remember that all politics is local. Get active working at the local level for godly candidates who respect life and constitutional government. And when bad things happen, pick up your cross and follow in the Lord's bloody footsteps. Suffering is good for the soul and we are likely to get more than enough to go around in the next few years. Don't forget to pray for President-elect Obama. His politics endanger his soul so he needs them.

"All things work together for good for those who love the Lord."

Have you voted for life today, considering the will of the Lord of Life? Then be at peace no matter the outcome. "All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and serve according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

It is the feast day of St. Charles Borromeo, one of the leading reformers of the Catholic Church. That, seems to me, to be a sign of hope that no matter what happens today we are to continue to fight for a culture of life and for our holy faith. St. Charles was born during the Protestant Revolution and became a cardinal at a time of serious abuses in the Church (sound familiar?). He assisted in the final deliberations of the Council of Trent and contibuted to the writing of the catechism of the Council. His catechetical efforts were so effective in his diocese (Milan, Ialy) that the protestants were unsuccessful in attempts to evangelize there.

St. Charles saw that many of the problems in the Church were due to the ignorance of the clergy, so he started seminaries and colleges to ensure the proper training of men aspiring to the priesthood. During times of famine and plague, he was a minister of charity, never sparing himself and liberally applying the wealth of the Church, even going into heavy debt.

But natural disasters were not his only challenge. His efforts at reform were resisted. One religious order, the Humiliati (Brothers of Humility), conspired to kill him. Gunshots were fired in his archiepiscopal chapel, but he escaped harm which many considered miraculous.

Having poured himself out as a libation for his people, St. Charles died November 3, 1584 at the age of only 46. To the end he was a model of his Lord, the Good Shepherd. Let us ask St. Charles to intercede for our Church and our country, and especially to pray for the hierarchy in the United States that they might put the common good of their people first. St. Charles Borromeo, pray for us.
