The Pro-Life Movement is Winning the Battle

It's interesting to have a three-decade history in the pro-life movement. I remember when the pro-aborts predicted that the battle was over after Roe v. Wade. They were convinced they could dust their hands off and get on with their grisly business of ripping babies apart with no unpleasant controversy. Those doing the devil's work never recognize the tenacity of the Church Militant. Soldiers of Christ filled with the Holy Spirit don't leave the field until the victory.

And so today, the pro-life movement is winning the battle for the hearts and minds of America as they continue their life-saving work -- in front of abortion mills and on college campuses. The baby in the womb is no longer invisible, but recognizable as a little person. And the survivor generation recognizes that they only live because they managed to run the gauntlet of nine months before birth.

With the anniversary of the birth of our little unborn Lord only days away, let us give thanks for the greatest gift --LIFE. We only celebrate with gifts under the tree because we were born. Praise God!

  1. I am not sure what "winning" means in this case. Making abortion illegal? I think the focus has turned too sharply to that, as opposed with focusing on ending situations where women feel that is even an option. Making abortion illegal will not stop it from happening, as I'm sure you are very aware. And pro-life means so much more than just abortion. Where are all the people picketing to end the death penalty, which is completely unnecessary? Where is the objection to the manufacture and sale of weapons used only for the purpose of killing human beings? Sure, you can say that people kill people, not guns, but I bet it would become a lot less common without them. And I don't think that one can be truly pro-life if you support any of those causes, which means we have no pro-life politicians. I think we have a long, long way to go before we can say that the pro-life movement is winning.

  2. Are you saying that murdering unborn children is equivalent to all those other issues? Are the lives of people (often women) who use a gun in self-defense worth anything?

And in line with your question...why aren't all the liberals who oppose the death penalty not picketing abortion mills? Funny, I've rarely met a liberal working to save the babies or helping their moms. In eight years of volunteering at a crisis pregnancy center I never met a single volunteer who was a liberal. I guess they are too busy working to save snail darters and kangaroo rats to care about moms in crisis pregancies and their babies.

And, yes, the pro-life movement is winning hearts -- and that's what counts.

  3. The whole seamless garment thing is nonsense. There are crimes for which capital punishment is the only just punishment. Weapons don't kill people by themselves. They are necessary because there is evil in the world and you have to be prepared to defend yourself, your community, and your nation against the marauders. Anonymous is just spouting the usual nonsense that seeks to minimize the murder of innocents by clouding the issue.

Without guns held legally crime increases. The statistics on that are quite clear. Unarmed nations, weak nations, are fodder for invasion. Ask Poland about their history. Nonsense never changes.

  4. Anonymous, using your logic, perhaps we should do away with laws against rapes, robberies, murder, drunken driving, etc. Wasn't it Martin Luther King who said, "I know the law can't make my white brother love me, but it can keep him from lynching me."

Death penalty - I don't know precise numbers, but I think less than 10 people are executed every year. Contrast that with the 1.5 million babies slaughtered each year. You're talking of a ratio greater than 150,000 babies to 1 criminal. I'd like to see the concern for the babies be at least as commensurate as that for the criminal. By the way - working for the protection of the innocent baby will likely reduce death penalty incidents, as the resulting culture of life will reduce the number of capital crimes committed.

  5. Two women were beaten to death late in the night in the city next to me in California a few years ago. The mother had a night job and the daughter was walking her there when some man attacked them both, and somehow killed them without a gun. I do not own a gun, nor do I even know how to shoot one, but I could not help wondering had these two women been trained and allowed to use a weapon for protection whether they would be still alive and not have gone through such a horrible deaths. And please do not tell me that the attacker would have gotten the gun away from them. No one knows whether or not that would have happened if they had proper training, even from a relative who knew what he or she was doing. Many of the women in the South carry a weapon in a compartment in their purses, and they know how to use it and are left alone. Many female state or U.S. legislators carry a weapon in their purses from what I am told besides having body guards. Guns have always been plentiful in the United States, but never before were teens and college students killing others on campus. Could it be the lack of respect for life since abortion has been legalized? I think it has a lot to do with it. My adult cousin did take me out and show me how to shoot a rifle when I was very young, but it was only one time. He was in the navy and knew what he was doing, and I wish I had at least gotten some training from him even if I did not carry one.
